@sharkz-wang
@max00xam hi, you need r (read) permission to list (ls) a directory
You have x (exec) permission, which is required to enter a directory, but no r permission
That's why you could cd' into this dir but was not able to list its contents

Hi everyone, I'm creating a linux based operating system. and I'm looking for software developer friends who can help me. A very fun adventure awaits us with this operating system I have created on science :)
Sebastian Fricke
@initBasti
Hey everyone, I really love this project and I believe it is one of the best ways for us as a community to keep a up-to-date book about how some of the internals work, besides to the real specific documentation of the kernel itself. I hope that we can further maintain this book and make it up-to-date. I'm currently working on the interrupts chapter. I would really appreciate any reviews of the pull request I created.

Hi people ! I'm interested in network-subsystem. Tomorrow i'll start studying it. Thanks for the group !
@MusaSakizci I'm interested in network-subsystem. So we can collaborate for that topic as an academic research. Thanks for your contribution.

@initBasti
Hi @hwpplayer1 , Welcome to the linux-insides community!
Mert Gör
@hwpplayer1
@initBasti thanks hope i can contribute to linux-insides community soon. First i can translate some text to Turkish maybe
Sebastian Fricke
@initBasti
@hwpplayer1 I guess you have already spotted this, but there was some attempt started 3 years ago https://github.com/ayyucedemirbas/linux-insides_Turkish . Maybe you can use that.
Mert Gör
@hwpplayer1
@initBasti no i learn that now. So i'll use it asap ... Yes i forked it
Mert Gör
@hwpplayer1
@initBasti and also i invited @ayyucedemirbas to the project
Mert Gör
@hwpplayer1
@initBasti i'll send pr to @ayyucedemirbas's repository that will be better Thanks all !

@tylkosimon
hello, is anybody in here?
Sebastian Fricke
@initBasti
@hwpplayer1 So you send PR's to his repository and he will batch PRs to the original, right?
@tylkosimon Hey, yeah a few people are here. Welcome to linux-insides!

I don't know if it's correct place to ask, but: Im thinking about building an android phone and wondering what will it take. Will I need modify kernel to put in drivers for different modules like screen, speakers, wifi, gsm modules?
Sebastian Fricke
@initBasti
@tylkosimon Hey, I'm no android expert and this book is mainly about how Linux works on a very low level. Sorry, if I cannot help you with that point.
Mert Gör
@hwpplayer1
@initBasti yes exactly i'm trying to translate linux-bootstrap-4 and 5 md files
Sebastian Fricke
@initBasti
Ok cool @hwpplayer1 , if you find problems where the content is deprecated please open an issue on the 0xax repository, so that I can fix issuesl

NIKHIL SAMDARSHI
@Nsamdarshi_twitter
Why does screen freeze in kernel? How to fix can anyone help please?
Sebastian Fricke
@initBasti
Hi @Nsamdarshi_twitter, we will need a little bit more information, like Is this happening in userspace (for example: are you running a browser and in freezes during execution), if it is happening in userspace does it happen for different applications? Which distribution do you run? Which kernel version? What kind of hardware? Did you take a look at sudo dmesg? Or at sudo journalctl? Is your laptop (if it is a laptop) hot at the point of the freeze? When did the freezing start, think about any specific actions, that happend before. If these started very recently you can observe your actions with the history command (which can show the date of the action after appending HISTTIMEFORMAT="%d/%m/%y %T " to your ~/.bashrc file and executing source ~/.bashrc afterwards.
Sebastian Fricke
@initBasti
As you can see there are plenty of reasons why this could happen and nobody here has magic abilities or is a fortune teller. Please always provide as much information as you possibly can when asking for technical advice. Otherwise, people can get the idea that you have no respect for their time.

@hwpplayer1
@initBasti i'm reading coreboot part linux-bootstrap-1 page, i'm back to work... Thanks

@initBasti
@hwpplayer1 Good to hear, thanks for any help. I don't have to much time currently as I currently work on http://web.archive.org/web/20190419223312/https://www.ops-class.org/asst/1/

Hey guys, I'm trying to compile the kernel from source but I got a fatal error:
./drivers/md/bcache/request.c:675: part_round_stats(cpu, &s->d->disk->part0);
as you see, in the file request.c, only two parameters are passed to the function part_round_stats, but this function is declared that three parameters are necessary.
./include/linux/genhd.h:408:extern void part_round_stats(struct request_queue q, int cpu, struct hd_struct part);
My system is CentOS 7 and I got the source code from here: wget "http://vault.centos.org/7.6.1810/os/Source/SPackages/kernel-3.10.0-957.el7.src.rpm"
I kind of can't believe that there is such a fatal error in the source of kernel. Does anyone know why I got this issue?
