Hey @danishjamal104, No man, I haven't contributed to any of ASSOIE projects, I was hoping to contribute because ASSOIE has some really interesting projects but I couldn't manage the time, so I think without any knowledge of the project I shouldn't waste my and community's time😊.
So which organization you are sending the proposal to.
Dear students who did not receive a GSoC slot this time,
This year we had a record number of 57 applications, and Google gave us 11 slots. As we received much more than 11 excellent proposals, we had to make some hard choices and many excellent candidates. This is especially sad for us in some cases where the candidates clearly showed a lot of motivation and commitment, even contributing extensively to our projects.
If you were not accepted, please do not feel discouraged. Keep in mind that GSoC is open to students of all levels, from first-year students to students completing their PhDs, with various levels of previous programming experience! So, keep acquiring more experience, and keep trying in the next years. One day you will be the candidate with more experience. And if you apply with us again in the future, we will remember any contributions done this year.
Remember that, if you never fail, you are probably not trying ambitiously enough. AOSSIE mentors have gone through failures too, and we know that every application process can feel like a waste of time. We encourage students to focus on contributions through merge requests, and we give feedback on their contributions. In this way, you acquire experience in programming, git, and collaborative software development and you improve open-source projects that benefit society. We hope that you had a positive experience applying with us and that this experience will enrich you.
Thanks and kind regards
Congratulations to those who got selected
As I start my journey in this open source community, I want to contribute to the organization, learn new things, solve the upcoming challenges, and gain a hands-on experience under the guidance of the mentors.
Feels really great to be a part of this community! 😁
