Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
then point to the same url that serves malware
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
well the windows nsis installer on github contains an ads, but you can ignore it
I think he was referring to that
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
which nobody does. especially nontechy users
click click click
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
well it was marked as no by default for me
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
ah ok
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
the builds from updates.mfd.com
are more problematic
If you check the download links on the website, only the linux refer to github
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
so the infested macos builds are created somewhere else?
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
its my guess
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
😣
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
since I downloaded the builds from github and they are fine
as you can see the build name doesnt match whats on github
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
maybe research for some more legitimate financing options and increased collaboration will be an option for the project?
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
Would be yes
In my opinion at some point its best to have some kind of organisation taking over
Donations are nice, but you need to list your donors and thank them
and you need to list and thanks the collaborators
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
yes and there need to be alternative persons with merging rights
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
yes and more communication
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
other topic - when launching with an active VPN, MFD just does not connect. anyone experienced that?
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
I remember an issue reporting that problem
its strange since if the VPN is configured at the network stack level it should go smoothly
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
yes
Nathan Graule
@SolarLiner
@sidneys this is Ubuntu GNOME with arc-theme and the Dash to Dock extension
background is Komebori
I've left Unity some time ago, but surely there should be a dock similar to the one I have
sidneys.github.io
@sidneys
I'm also using gnome, unity was to buggy
or am I? I think I did a rollback a while ago
nope I'm on unity. fuck
but there's also arc theme available
Alexandru Rosianu
@aluxian
hey everyone, i'm sorry for my inactivity, i'd like to clarify the situation and answer all the questions
whatsie/wfd is dead because of WhatsApp's cease & desist
the builds on github are all clean except the nsis
i still own the github repo, pipeline, updates server
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
Hey :)
Alexandru Rosianu
@aluxian
if you want to create an alternative domain that's fine with me (although i saw the .org is up already)
i saw some comments about rebuilding the pipeline — don't, it's a lot of work and pain
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
I agree!
Alexandru Rosianu
@aluxian
as i said, the builds on github are and have always been clean (with that nsis exception, which i can remove from GitHub)
Émile Fugulin
@Sytten
the builds output from circle ci and cie, where are they going after?
Alexandru Rosianu
@aluxian
the pipeline is broken right now though, pushing only triggers CircleCI and not appveyor/travis. i have no idea why, i looked on it last week, will fix it this weekend
after this, pushing to develop/staging/deploy should work again
the pipeline goes like this:
push to github develop/staging/deploy -> triggers all CIs -> they build the app and upload it to bintray/github
from there the updates server (https://github.com/Aluxian/squirrel-updates-server) picks it up (actually it just requests the releases from GitHub api every time with a cache period of 2h)
the updates server has /update and /download endpoints used for updates and (clean) downloads
