@htmelton can you send me an invite to the figma project? mackenziehung@gmail.com
Hailey Melton
@htmelton
@poppingdragon Sure, I just sent it. There isn't a lot there right now though.
Let me know if you don't get the invite
poppingdragon
@poppingdragon
@htmelton didnt get the invite yet. what are some of the ui/ux goals atm?
okay i think it worked now
Hailey Melton
@htmelton
@poppingdragon One of the big things I haven't thought about yet is the design of the onboarding process. Ideas for the project website arbo.re are also welcome. I've mostly been reworking existing things in the app and running usability tests on them, though I've been a bit busy preparing for a big job interview lately. You're welcome to give feedback on the current design of the app as well!
poppingdragon
@poppingdragon
that sounds good
im actually having problems getting onto the program
i keep getting ipfs daemon error
if you know how to fix that that would be great
Also, I could spec out a concept landing page for arbo.re
Hailey Melton
@htmelton
@poppingdragon did you run npm install?
poppingdragon
@poppingdragon
and i did get a chance to partially see the onboarding process. There's definitely alot of stuff that we could do
not sure how to run npm install LOL
Hailey Melton
@htmelton
@poppingdragon did you download the app from github or the website?
poppingdragon
@poppingdragon
website
Hailey Melton
@htmelton
Hmm, I’m not sure why it happened then. You should ask Michael about it.
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
@poppingdragon run the app again
hmmm
i may have some trouble handling the daemon ...
@poppingdragon you can probably solve that by rebooting
hopefully
it's so annnoying when it's other people's code that break :(
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
or delete the C:\Users\youraccount\AppData\Roaming\Arbore folder
poppingdragon
@poppingdragon
i just reset my computer and that seemed to do the trick
been going through the program and making some notes on the ui and ux

just made some mockups for the login screen. Two pointers that I wanted to include were:
1) The introduction of a "forgot my password" feature. Would be useful for users to have a way to get their passwords especially if there are important files on their account
2) A "how it works" section - To make the onboarding process more smooth, it would be useful to let users know how the program works immediately. Still debating if there should be a button that opens up the "how it works" section or if it should login screen should be split into two sections.

Also, I envisioned the "files" text to rotate between other words (i.e. videos, music, etc.) while the other text stays constant.

something like that.

@poppingdragon
let me know what you think!
Hailey Melton
@htmelton
I like the idea of a "how it works" section. That might be the easiest and fastest way to get some sort of onboarding ready, but I think it might be better visually to have a button that lets the user see it instead of splitting the screen. It kind of looks like a lot going on with two separate sections on the screen, in my opinion.
I also like a forgot password feature. It's definitely good to have if we are including passwords in the app.
Not sure about the gradient on the front screen, though. The app follows a Material Design aesthetic and I haven't really seen gradients used with that.
Good work!
poppingdragon
@poppingdragon
^ yes, I was thinking of the "how it works" being in another screen initially. In terms of the aesthetics, I am still not too familiar with what theme we wanted to go with so its very flexible!!

@MichaelMure
huuuu, i can't open figma files anymore on linux ...
Hailey Melton
@htmelton
That’s weird. It says it should be available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
@htmelton it worked a few days ago, now they are complaining about webgl not supported which doesn't make sense
Hailey Melton
@htmelton
I am getting IPFS stopped again when trying to run the app on Mac. Restarting the computer didn't help either. I can run it on Windows though.

@micahaza
Any idea how to install?
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
@micahaza it works for me on linux with npm5 as well...
Maybe delete node_modules and app/node_modules and try again ?
Npm is a bit dumb sometimes
Or try yarn ?
Block And Decker
@micahaza
@MichaelMure will try and let you know the results
