@micahaza what would be more interesting to test is to create a fresh new identity
Block And Decker

ok
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
Good thing now is that adding contact is now much more distributed
Each node can transmit the contact information they know
Instead of each node has to reply for himself

Hi I am not able to download a file. Can anyone please help me?
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
@praviin02 unfortunately, this is due to a weakness in IPFS. That said, they just released a new version that seems to address this kind of problems. I'll need to get back to work on this and see if it fix the problem.

Hi @MichaelMure Sure, Thank you!

Hello, I just learned about Arbore. Pretty cool app. Thanks for hosting it on github
I'm curious how account management works on this type of service. Would this technology work for a social media style website.
Like I make public broadcast style posts, and people can be sure it's my identity?
I guess you could verify they were my posts if everyone knew my public key, and I signed all the content with my private key.
Is that how Arbore works? How do you know the message is from who they claim it to be? And how to you manage the distribution of keys?
I'm curious if a website like that could be done completely decentralized. No Verisign for certs. No central authority who could delete the posts, etc.
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
Arbore is fully decentralized indeed
Profile and public keys are published on ipfs/ipns
You can know if it's the correct profile because these profile are connected together in a social graph
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
If some of your friends have this profile on their contacts for this other friends, you can start to trust it
(You only know your local social graph btw, you can't know the contact list of everyone)
l337Rooster
@l337Rooster
ahh, you use a social graph for a chain of trust
interesting
thanks :)

Found Matthias Beyer, then found Michael Mure in discuss.ipfs.io. I'm in Dallas TX. I would like to help define evolution of the social media platform. I will check back tomorrow morning.

Installed Arbore V0.3.2 Windows ver from arbo.re website, into c:/program files/arbore folder. Running app gives an IPFS Not Found response and stalls there. I find in the source where it wants to import ipfs-connector. In the install folder the path to ipfs-connector is C:\Program Files\Arbore\resources\app.asar.unpacked\node_modules\@michaelmure\ipfs-connector
Michael Muré
@MichaelMure
@crockwave Arbore really needs to be updated to the last IPFS
