    Hello. I'll be joining the hackathon remotely from my apartment in downtown Los Angeles.
    I'm working on more deeply integrating Internet Archive with my news homepage archive using the excellent Python API wrapper.
    I'm already pushing code over here https://github.com/pastpages/pastpages.org
    jjjake
    @jjjake
    @palewire_twitter nice! I wrote and maintain the Python API wrapper. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'll be around all day.

    @palewire_twitter
    @jjjake Is it correct that items cannot be deleted once uploaded via the API?
    If so, what do you recommend I do if I push up a test item that isn't of any value.
    jjjake
    @jjjake
    @palewire_twitter upload to the test_collection (e.g. item.upload(files, metadata=dict(collection='test_collection')))
    Items can be taken down, but we usually don't delete. Files can be deleted.
    When you upload to the test_collection, the item will be taken down after about 30 days.
    Ben Welsh
    @palewire_twitter
    thank you!
    Charles Horn
    @hornc
    The Zoom cahnnel has been muted, we can't hear anything

    Someone asked about gifcities api. Here is an example: https://gifcities.archive.org/api/v1/gifsearch?q=balloons&seed=865.8468726583526
    Dr. Neal Krawetz
    @hackerfactor_twitter
    Wonderful. Sorry I missed the intro.

    @mekarpeles
    When we break into groups, maybe we can break into separate video chats for each group

    If anyone has questions about APIs feel free to ask me!
    Dr. Neal Krawetz
    @hackerfactor_twitter
    I think I missed my 15 second intro (fighting another fire)... "Hi, I'm Neal. I run Hacker Factor.com and FotoForensics.com. I also created the Internet Archive hidden service on Tor. Computer security, networking, forensics, and overall trouble maker."
    Mark Graham
    @MarkGraham_twitter
    Welcome Neal... your reputation proceeds you!

    @Treora
    Hi all, I'm just dropping in now; what's the status? How can I best participate remotely?
    jjjake
    @jjjake
    Right now everybody is eating (or about to eat) pizza here. We should be back at it shortly.
    I think mek mentioned setting up video chat for the individual groups once we get started.
    There's also a zoom link for video chat, but not much is going on right now. https://zoom.us/j/419878918

    @mekarpeles
    Hi @Treora! People are just wrapping up a tour!
    I suggest catching up with Drew Winget whose doing work w/ annotations!
    Gerben
    @Treora
    is Drew here?
    Mek
    @mekarpeles
    I think he's just finishing the tour (eta 10m)
    I'm contacting Drew now -- he'll jump on gitter

    @palewire_twitter
    @jjjake I'm noticing that after an item with a couple images attached as files is uploaded the URLs to the files on archive.org are not always immediately available. Am I screwing something up or is that expected behavior?
    @palewire_twitter can you send me an identifier as an example? The files should be available pretty shortly after they've been uploaded, but maybe not immediately.

    They seem to show up pretty quickly. So they could be there by the time you look.
