    @Arne-W OK, those aren't actually my changes - tacking on the version number to the stable isn't mine :-) I'll have a look tomorrow, 'though.

    Hi!
    I have a little problem with the Ardupilot connection with my computer
    is there anyone to help me?
    When I connect Ardupilot board to my computer, nothing happens, and my computer does not recognize any hardware.
    I use Windows10.
    what should I do? Am I missing some drivers?
    Arne Wischmann
    @Arne-W
    @peterbarker regarding the firmware manifest.json it looks like the version in the which is encoded in the "mav-firmware-version-type" field is the correct one (matches the file path) and the one in the "mav-firmware-version" is wrong (always 3.2.1). Moreover it is not possible to get those files which include the bootloader by reading the json data - you have to parse the filename to find the ones with BL and the ones without.

    have anyone already replicated the model of EasyStar II plane on JSBSim?

    @dmos62
    I'm looking for a budget-ish copter/plane/anything that's dev-friendly and has at least a minimum of modding potential. In other words Raspberry Pi of drones. Sky Viper Journey looks amazing, for example. Care to make recommendations?
    Or maybe there's a better place to ask?
    Olivier Brousse
    @OlivierJB
    Skyviper would be my recommendation. I don't know about the journey but I have a few of the originals (2450 GPS) an they are great. A few major advantages imho:
    • Very resistant to crashes. ;) Haven't been able to break one yet, and several took some serious beatings.
    • Full Ardupilot hackabity/programming, both flight controller and companion computer.
    • Full autonomy at low cost.
    • Can be used either with phone app or via your favorite GCS.
    Olivier Brousse
    @OlivierJB
    Next choice up would be a small quad, say 3" or 5", with full fledged Linux flight controller or non Linux FC + Pi or equivalent companion computer with camera. More possibilities given more computing power, but also definitely more expensive.
    dmos62
    @dmos62
    @OlivierJB yeah, journey seems to be a branding of their GPS drones. Are there kits or RTF for the linux flight controller quads you mentioned?
    marcsay
    @marcsay
    Would this be correct that if I use the Skyviper board, I can place it on a different frame and have it function with a DC motor setup? If I would use a Pixracer, I would still need a brushed motor controller connected between the Pixracer and the DC motor?
    Olivier Brousse
    @OlivierJB
    @dmos62 Not aware of any, there were/are some like Intel or Qualcomm Flight Pro with the snapdragon but support is discontinued, also has some proprietary code I think. But maybe someone will chime in that knows one I am not aware of. There's also Solo of course but discontinued + separate FC and companion computer.
    @marcsay Yes you can extract the board and use on different frame. You'd need additional brushed motor controllers if the motors were bigger otherwise if similar it's on the board already iirc. See also https://discuss.ardupilot.org/t/using-the-skyviper-sonix-board-with-any-pixhawk/23932

    hello guys, what is the best beginners plane to control either RC or with arduplane, with no experience in RC planes?
    jilliancfls
    @jilliancfls

    hi there!
    Im trying to deploy 5 vehicles (2 quads and 3 planes). They need to all transmit video, telemetry and rc quite far (60km) and all at the same time (all 5 vehicles). We have access radio towers 50m in elevation we are allowed to use to for the antennas and transmitters and receivers but im having a hard time wrapping my head around a few things.
    • If I put a bunch of high gain antennas to cover near 360º and simply alter the frequency of the receiver and transmitter, will that work given we will need to take these to their end of RF capabilities? (and their frequencies will be too close)
    • If I switch to a digital link, does anyone have any suggestions. I'm not too cost conscious. I don’t want 5 sets of 20k silvus radios but 2-5k for each system (I presume I will need 5) is ok.

    - It's just that doing the math, I can't get this to work on a fully digital links (i.e. microhard) unless i add such high gain antennas i need to start tracking them which i need to avoid. I want a healthy link budget so im trying to keep the frequency a low as practical but I cant use 900mhz, it would need to be 868 so a lot of the stuff ive seen isnt available in 868. I thought of ubiquity units but the 900mhz side back an issue.

    I am trying to manage how I can get 60km coverage (for telemetry, video and rc control) and not have all the vehicles not let the other have any RF space.
    Any thoughts (LTE is also out)? (edited)

    I'm interested in solving this issue (ArduPilot/ardupilot#13194). Is it still open?
    Pierre Kancir
    @khancyr
    yes
    Jaime Machuca

    @krady21 That already exists or existed in the code check it first it was activated with a switch or throttle stick I believe

    hmm... just double checked and I can't find the changes to enable it automatically with the crash check... guess they never made it to master.

    Is it possible to use GPS hold without altitude hold? I'm trying to figure a way to keep a tether from having a bunch of slack in it. I was thinking instead of holding altitude the UAV could just always be barely above hover throttle.

    Hi,
    I want to use OpenCV with Mission Planner, where I have the drone visit waypoints and when it reaches the last waypoint it uses OpenCV to detect and track an object and follow it.
    Do I have to create a new mode and add it as an event and use this as the last waypoint? Is there a way to trigger running the OpenCV program via mavlink?

    I don't really know, you may look on 3.2.1 but that is very old ... I don't see the point at digging so long in the past
