[ArduPilot/apm_planner] New comment by benb0jangles on issue #1186: Remove/Hide APMToolBar
Hi Arne, Yea I thought as much- that if I comment out the toolbar I will have to go through the other script pages and correct errors too.
Removing the APMtoolbar (the one with the icons not the menu bar) means there will be more more flight data viewable on my 640x360 fpv screen.
The screen I edited so far, it's not too bad, It's really just about making the best of available screen space.

It is clear that to make efficient use of the screen space removing the APMToolbar might be done. It is ok to do this because the standard menu bar > File > Edit > View this also does the same thing as APMToolbar so no need to have twice

I am building for Raspberry Pi + Cheap 7" LCD TV Screen.
benefits over Android Tablet/Laptop:
• Cheap ($10 screen + Pi)
• The Screen has two channel switch, ch1 for APMPlanner, ch2 for FPV view.
• Small linux computer means I am able to have more practical use
• It is smaller/portable than laptop (screen mounts onto Flysky radio transmitter)
• USB + GPIO I am able to use many tx/rx modules (Android is limited)
• I am using c2 fpv with Movidius Neural Compute stick live video object identification
• Also OpenCV Object Tracking

[ArduPilot/apm_planner] New comment by hdino on pull request #1179: read and request int32 waypoints
According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal\_degrees|<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal\_degrees> or this article, 7 decimal places are sufficient for a minimum difference of ~11 mm at the equator.

A single precision float can store 6 to 9 significant decimal digits. So in the worst case, a float will yield only 11 cm precision.

APM Planner uses a double which can store 15 to 17 significant decimal digits.

ArduPilot/apm_planner#1188
First of all I apologize since I do not speak English and I have to use the translation of goggle
Hello, I am addressing you with the hope that you solve these problems that we are suffering from the abandonment of the apm development for the benefit of pixhawk.
Even knowing that the development and support for APM has been abandoned, those of us who have these controllers are suffering from some modifications in the application (Mission Planner) that just leaving it as it would have been enough to be able to continue using them.
I am referring to problems of data appearing in the companies that are a consequence of the information that they give us through the servers, we are not allowed to download the latest valid version for apm returning an error that is because mission planner does not connect to the server (something that had never happened before) also recently installed the latest version manually we see that the flight modes have disappeared, not being able to configure them and also the descriptions that accompanied the commands, however using other versions of Windows 8.1 after being several days trying to find out what was happening apparently the flight modes if you can see and also the descriptions, but not the load of the firm that still can not be done.
Coincidentally I discovered an APMplanr application in which we are offered the possibility of installing the latest valid version of firm, however, this application is so rudimentary that since we do not have the full parameter list, it makes it very difficult for us to configure our devices.
That is why I would beg you that at least some version of mission planner would work as it had done so far and allow us to use APM controllers until they break down and / or we decide to switch to pix by our own will and not forced by evil. mission planner operation.
Or that the APMplaner application also shows the parameters (full parameter list) and we can mark the favorites as we did with mission planner.
In the confidence that they will make a decision that does not leave us abandoned after having invested money in buying controllers, I send you my best regards.

[ArduPilot/apm_planner] New comment by hdino on pull request #1179: read and request int32 waypoints
@Arne-W I like the idea of supporting integer waypoints, because they offer higher accuracy. I'm just not sure if it would be better to implement a dual stack and let the user choose which type to use in the configuration. On the other hand, this would only make sense if there are autopilots that don't support integer waypoints.

[ArduPilot/apm_planner] New comment by Arne-W on pull request #1179: read and request int32 waypoints
@hdino Ok - if I get you right the "perfect way" would be requesting and sending the waypoints as integer and if not supported by the autopilot as float while handling them internally as integer and only display them as double?

@ardupilotbot
[unknown]
[ArduPilot/apm_planner] New comment by hdino on pull request #1179: read and request int32 waypoints
@Arne-W Yes, the "perfect way" would be to transmit the waypoints as integer via MAVLink, probably with a fallback to float if integers are not supported by the autopilot. In APM Planner, however, they can be stored as double since double offers a higher accuracy than the int32 used in MAVLink.

[ArduPilot/apm_planner] New comment by niuxw on pull request #1179: read and request int32 waypoints
Hi @hdino, thank you for your information. 7 decimal places have enough accurate, but the problem is when converting double to float (7 decimal digits of precision) in C++, the 7th decimal places may be changed sometimes. So it means FLOAT can only guarantee the accuracy of 6 decimal places.

[ArduPilot/apm_planner] New comment by niuxw on pull request #1179: read and request int32 waypoints
Hi @Arne-W, I am so sorry for the late reply. From this website, Converting from Double to Int, conversion from int to double is safe, and conversion from double from int, the fractional part is discarded, which means the integer part won't be changed. So I think conversion int to double then back to int won't change int value.

I actually don't care about a binary release. I maintain the the NixOS apmplanner 2 package, and would like to update it. However I don't feel lucky too just choose "random" state of master, therefore I would like upstream (this package) to release at least every 9 months or so (preferable more often).

Hi all, current master is stable! I thought we should make a release too and did some testing to create an appimage package to be a little more distribution independent but have not finished yet.
I did not test if everything works with the new released arducopter 4.0 version - that is still on my list.

[unknown]
[ArduPilot/apm_planner] New comment by anbello on issue #1193: When will there be the next stable release?
I think that for a new stable version it should be considered the change in parameters from Copter 4.0.
Something to implement here:
https://github.com/ArduPilot/apm_planner/blob/master/src/ui/configuration/CopterPidConfig.cc#L171

liike this:

if(version.majorNumber() == 3) { if(version.minorNumber() >= 6) { QLOG_DEBUG() << "Using parameter set for ArduCopter 3.6+"; setupPID_APM_36(); } else if(version.minorNumber() >= 4) { QLOG_DEBUG() << "Using parameter set for ArduCopter 3.4+"; setupPID_APM_34(); } } else if(version.majorNumber() == 4) { if(version.minorNumber() >= 0) { QLOG_DEBUG() << "Using parameter set for ArduCopter 4.0+"; setupPID_APM_40(); } } else { QLOG_DEBUG() << "Using default parameter set"; setupPID_Default(); }

and then a new function setupPID_APM_40() witch will be mainly similar to setupPID_APM_36() but with some difference, for now I see difference in ATC_RAT_ * _FILT that split in three params ATC_RAT_ * _FLTD, ATC_RAT_ * _FLTE, ATC_RAT_ * _FLTT and the same for PSC_ACCZ_FILT.
