    I'm using this. I thought it should be enough by powering each side of the strip. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B1QKLSM
    Is the ground from the power supply supposed to be connecting to the pi or is the LED strip connecting to the negative pin enough?
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    What are the power issues you are having?
    That power supply should be ample for them, damn @ 340 LEDs, thats a big screen!
    The Pi just needs common ground, so either connect it to the strip or to the -5v / gnd of the PSU
    Did you get a test connector for the LED strip?
    Chris Harrod
    @thechrisharrod_twitter
    Yeah the LEDs seem to power on test just fine so I'm messing something up. Seems to work for a second and then goes into red LEDs. Seems like a power issue.
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    so they work fine like for colours/etc with the test thing?
    If it just does it when you connect the Pi it could just be Aurora not picking up any input
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    you can switch to the rainbow to test since that will power them all

    got everything i need to finish mine, i'm going to make a project board with the pi, psu, and splitter attached to it and since I'm not mounting my tv to the wall I'll use the vesa holes to mount that to the back of the TV, hoping to have it up and running tomorrow

    @AndrewMohawk
    awesome!

    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    sorry is this chat room for general discussion about the project or only for help if you cant get past a certain issue? I don't want to bug you if it's just for help if you absolutely need it
    Ryan P
    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    I have everything soldered, I just have a wiring question, do you use the two extra power and ground for anything?
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    Its for everything
    (the chat room), its just easier for people to ask
    so I use the power and ground to power from one side of the strip and from the other, so the extra one just meant I didnt have to solder anything else on
    Also, please bug me with any of the things!
    Ryan P
    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    ok i have everything wired and solder, running, and no leds
    PSU is working, tested everything with the included led tester thing, go to config and no leds light up
    i am getting video input from the capture card
    i have ground on pi, correct pin, green wire to the correct pin, ground is connected to ground of the LED strip that goes into the PSU
    two extra power and ground not connected to anything (on the led strip that came that way)
    Ryan P
    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    not sure what's wrong
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    okay cool, lets figure it out

    Can you get a shell on the pi
    then do journalctl -f -u aurora& which will put logging into the background
    and then do service aurora restart and we can see if there are any issues in the starting of it
    Ryan P
    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    sure just a sec
    ok its a lot
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    just put it in a thread here
    just moving it out that thread, I suspect what happened is it tried to start (maybe something was wrong) so when you "restarted" it the service actually worked
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    What kind of HDR do you have? Atm this wont work with Dolby Vision because that is proprietary so they cant "decode" and downscale that image
    Ryan P
    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    HDR 10
    samsung Q80T
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    oh, naa HDR10 should definitely work cause I have it on my LG C9
    Ryan P
    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    it was working before, Appletv 4k
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    I have definitely got HDR working with both the cheaper and the more expensive HDMI splitter
    Ryan P
    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    yeah
    can I share images on here?
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    you can test the cables individually, but if thats still not working there must be something else, maybe a firmware version
    Is it working?
    Ryan P
    @ryan.pfl_gitlab
    yeah it's working
    all new hdmi cables, but i wonder if the mono price isn't that good
    Andrew MacPherson
    @AndrewMohawk
    woohoo! The first person to build it
    the mono price?
    using these
    they worked 444 and HDR10 before the splitter
