not only some success, but a great success!!
    [TestMethod]
    public void XamlWithTemplate()
    {
        var visualTree = xamlReader.Load(@"Xaml\Basic\DataTemplate.xaml");
        var template = (MyDataTemplates) visualTree;

        foreach (var myDataTemplate in template)
        {
            var content = myDataTemplate.Template.Load();
        }
    }
just a test, but works! the content is read in a deferred manner!

Nice work!
Was it simple enough in the end?
Sorry I can't really read the code because I'm on my phone again

not so easy, because I had to read a lot
Avalonia has helped me HUGELY
in fact, if it weren't because of your project, I would not have anything
the good news is that I think the "classic" approach can be plugged into your brand-new templates :)
it's just a collection of templates
I will get it working, you can count on that :)

:) I have no idea how I worked out how to do it in avalonia
Did you get avalonia working in the end?
