Hey @marcharper, I'll keep pushing to that vk branch and PR so that we discuss all the things I do.
I've set the cache going again, should be done by tomorrow (both noise and std with 10000 repetitions).
In the mean time I'm working on the validation part of the paper. I'll open a PR later today. :+1:

@marcharper
great, i have some visualization ideas i'm working on for the ml strategies
and a few for the moran paper

@drvinceknight
Looks like I've underestimated the time for the cache. It's still going 👍Will let you know when it's done.

I've got a 1000 repetition cache down. WIll get started with the Moran processes with that.
We're still planning on going with $N/2$ instead of $1$ right?
Marc
@marcharper
yeah

I haven't had a chance to review all the new files, will try to do so tomorrow

No problemo. Essentially, I've put things in place and we're waiting on data to be able to do more analysis.
Everything is coming out of the one nb and writing tables and images to files that are then being compiled in the latex document. We'll probably end up dropping some of them (and/or including others).
Despite the fact that there's not much data for large $N$, we're already seeing expected/interesting results about memory length.

Vince / Nik: If you're thinking of using tensorflow this repository has a lot of nice examples: https://github.com/aymericdamien/TensorFlow-Examples
Keras is a nice abstraction layer and is being incorporated into tensorflow, as is edward: http://edwardlib.org/
and theano recently announced that they are shutting down in a year, so it's basically tensorflow or pytorch

👍
(I expect it'll be about 6 months till we get to this, finishing off various other things.)

Came across this new package: https://github.com/Socrats/EGTTools
The field is progressing

Thanks for sharing
FYI this old package of mine computes stationary distributions and fixation probabilities: https://github.com/marcharper/stationary
Do you know the author?
Last I heard Julian Garcia was also working on some software, written in Julia I think
I suggested that there should be a mailing list or some way of coordinating efforts to prevent duplication

@Nikoleta-v3
Nice! Thanks for sharing
No I do not. I found it on Twitter
That is a really good idea
Marc
@marcharper
Let me know when you've started the mailing list :)

Hahahahaha :laughing: nice try!
Marc
@marcharper
Had to give it a go! But seriously though, think about it. If not you or Vince, then who? It should probably be an academic, or an academic with an industry partner :)

@Nikoleta-v3
You would have a mailing list and a repo that lists all the projects and what they do?
Marc
@marcharper
and maybe a website, if the repo isn't very discoverable
