Hey Everyone, there’s lots of good info for our hands-on intro to Arduino tomorrow: http://hackingmeasurement.berkeley.edu/syllabus/2015/09/10/hands-on-arduino.html
Please check the readings and in particular, please prepare your computers with the software linked there.
I also need 2 note-takers. One to take notes during the class and one to do followup.
Note that we only have 6 kits, and priority will be given to folks who are fully registered for the course (I’m putting together my spreadsheet now and chasing people down to get things sorted out). You can organize into teams of 2-3 to go through the lesson together.

I'll do the follow up notes since I may be a few minutes late.

Thanks @vhutheesing!
But checking, I see you’ve already done some notes (from a Tuesday). So, I’ll keep you in reserve, but let’s try to clear everyone on this first challenge first.
Also, if folks are interested in a big basic arduino kit, this is a recommendation from @javirosa: http://www.amazon.com/SunFounder-modules-Arduino-Mega2560-Raspberry/dp/B00CBDUD60/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1441756119&sr=8-2&keywords=sunfounder

If we're using a virtual environment for pyserial, how does (can?) the Arduino IDE interface with it?

I think you'll need to also run the arduino IDE in the virtual environment. the USB device will have to be assigned either to the host OS or the VM.
