More of a 'How To'
So, I'm staring at the GST ... and it occurs to me that we are leveraging the 'Allegiance' tag as both 'Faction' and 'Allegiance'

Yeah - that's something that can be improved with the categories

So ... I'm in the process of fleshing stuff out in the GST.
Is there a reason (other than we've currently dug into this path already) to not move to 'Unit' as the profile type, and 'Magic' as the spell info section?
(much like the current war scrolls)

Wait say that again?

@alphalas Presently we have two 'types' for Units. A 'Wizard' type and a 'non-wizard' type.
The war scrolls themselves don't actually split it out in that fashion, it has the WIZARD keyword, and adds a section called 'Magic' which then delves into the 'Spell' section/cast/deny section.

why the hell are there two to cover the same thing?
OftKilted
@OftKilted

Interesting question.
Which I don't actually have an answer.
The wizard type has the cast/deny/spells on the same line, as opposed to splitting it out.

I'm guessing it has to do with the time when the existing AoS repo was nuked and somebody started over from scratch. I don't think it was there when I was working on it

The side note that I've run into are handling the 'Factions' v.s. Unique 'Allegiance' battle traits' with the current breakdown of the Chaos list (as an example)
@cartag likely the case.
For Chaos, as an example: At this moment there are only three Unique Allegiance Battletraits. CHAOS, CHAOS: Khorne and CHAOS: Tzeentch

are there still zero stats for anything in the files too?
except Order I mean
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 04 2017 15:19
There are minimal stats. Destruction has some.
Haven't looked really at death. And there are occasional ones in Chaos. But mainly not.
the motivation has likely been low given that Scrollbuilder is pretty darn good.
cartag
@cartag
Jul 04 2017 15:20
scrollbuilder also has no validation
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 04 2017 15:20
this is indeed completely true.
cartag
@cartag
Jul 04 2017 15:20
you still have to manually add everything

@OftKilted
Jul 04 2017 15:21
But the BS catalogs with their Warscrolls have run into the same validation issue.

with how BS is now, you could add a battalion in BS, have all the units add automatically like they did for 7th formations, and have the individual units count towards validation

@OftKilted
Jul 04 2017 15:22
Yep, but that hasn't been done. (For the most part)

If you care enough to do so (I refuse because my work will just be overwritten again), you can remove constraints on the force entries and set the constraints on the category entries. Just set the modifiers to change depending on force type

Is there a good example in the 40K files? I was looking at doing that.

nope

We're talking GST?
or the actual catalog files?

GST, one sec, doing mockup

Then remove constraints in the force entries

Yeah.
That was the issue I reported back to @Jonskichov in the BS Alphas BattleScribe/Desktop-Alphas#168

I did a test with battalions back when categories were first being tested
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 04 2017 15:28
It works really darn well actually.
cartag
@cartag
Jul 04 2017 15:28
oh, I didn't bother with name changes or anything like that
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 04 2017 15:29
It works just fine without the changes, but the name changes makes it easier to see what 'level' you're working at.
cartag
@cartag
Jul 04 2017 15:29
I just left the tiers like they are at

The issue with the dynamic name changes is that it doesn't like non-numeric changes.
i.e. I can set it the dynamic change, and it works in Battlescribe. But when you re-open the GST to make another edit ... the name change isn't editable.
It's vanished
And the problem with non-dynamic changes is that if you decide to change your 'level' that is an entirely new type of force. (IMO)

@cartag Is there an example of 'Max Selections in Primary Category' in the 40K catalogs?
cartag
@cartag
Jul 04 2017 16:19
To where you can have max X units? Not that I'm aware of in present 40k
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 04 2017 16:21
okay.
The validation for Max X selections in Primary Category is new ... and I was looking to see if anyone had used it for category handling.

I made my own version of the GST in alpha testing and set up a few battalions in the Chaos CAT to check
it tested fine and validated properly
just increment like you do with the min increment for battleline
