@Mad-Spy What if we were to do this a different way for the Limitations?
If instead of hiding or showing, what if one did modifiers on the Categories?
For example: Nighthaunt
Set a max in roster of -1 by default.
If allegiance 'Derathmages' set Max in Roster to 0
Deathmages
If the units are categorized properly, it should flag that the restriction isn't being met ...

It just makes gst'izing the keywords not as helpful.
Or reverse it ...

Set Max 0 selections in Roster (child selections/child forces). Modifier - a decrement MAX 0 Selections by 1 OR <list of allegiances>
While one could set the default for the show the actual 'validation' is more of a 'too many selections of <category> in Roster
The only issue that I'm seeing is that for shared categories you can't add local modifiers.

I had looked at that before. If you can make it work, write it up. I couldn't get it to work without moving the Force Entries to the individual catalogues, which has its own problems.

The issue I was having in testing was that if a category isn’t in local, constraints can’t be modified.

It looks better for doing a nested case statement for managing multi setups
For situations where there are multiple possibilities for Allegiance in a given cat. “Easiest” is splitting out each of the Allegiances. But that ends up with catalogue overhead.

Any thoughts at the moment on what we do about scenery i.e. the Balewind Vortex and Sylvaneth Wyldwood? Should we put them in the GST?

For the time being.... I wouldn’t worry about them seriously. They probably need to be in a Scenery Catalog
There is a bunch of it.

Is it worth at least putting those two in given they have points values? I like to run a Vortex with my Tzeentch and it's a pretty common addition to a force.
We could just create a Scenery primary category for now and have those in the GST so at least people can use them.

There's really three that can "easily" be taken: Balewind Vortex, Sylvaneth Wyldwood, Sylvaneth Sylvaneth Wyldwood (slight difference). Since they're pretty much the same for every faction might not actually be a bad idea.

A bunch of people in our "local meta" for tournaments bring Balewind's fwiw

Okay. I have yet to see ANYONE other than Sylvaneth actually taking wyldwoods
And there’s literally no reason for anyone to take the feculent gnarlmaw other than Nurgle

A Nurgle player here keeps bringing it (Sylvaneth Wood)...i just walk around it

Given the project guidelines though it is at least possible so we should support it.

They should drag out the feculent gnarlmaw instead ... it would make more sense

So, Sylvaneth Wyldwood. Add it to the Sylvaneth cat. And make a version that shows up as an Ally that costs 40 points
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 16 2018 20:49
It is Sylvaneth.... and allied forces are an available option. Or one could put them into a side-force (two forces)
@tekton How’s the Nurgle player deploying them?
Or what mechanism are they using to deploy the trees?
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 16 2018 20:56
@tekton Are they placed as part of the scenery deployment?

There’s no provision for adding scenery into a list that I can find, which means it would need to be placed as part of terrain setup. (Which is part of that pre-game setup phase...) but since you can’t cast it into being without a treeman or Sylvaneth unit on the board ... I’m just slightly boggled.

The Balewind is a spell that any wizard can know as long as you have the scroll and model.

Technically the Wyldwood is also a spell ...
Inquiring minds want to know!

Is have to look at it again
OftKilted

Mar 16 2018 21:21
But the spell is limited to order factions for casters.
My belief is that the cost on the Wyldwood is because it is able to be used as a spell cast by specific order wizards, that don’t have to be part of the SYLVANETH allegiance. (They can be part of GA Order.)
