I think that is a good plan.

Sounds good to me
For matched play gamers, you’ll be able to diversify your games with 12 more battleplans. Using new rules for rolling up which battleplan you’ll play, you can combine these with the battleplans in your Core Book for a total of 18 (or 20, if you include Malign Sorcery)! You’ll have to stay on your toes and build your lists to tackle all manner of possible situations if you want to thrive. Meanwhile, pitched battle profiles provide points for every single Warhammer Age of Sigmar model in the Mortal Realms.

@alphalas MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Just. As. Planned. So many variables ...

And a crack load of spooky ghosts... there are two “easy fit” units that aren’t in the starter set. (A musician kit for the hunters) and spooky banshee models.

Yeah I’m probably getting 2 sets of the SCE

I need to finish up my Tzeentch forces ... and probably get some units to fill out my Khorne Army
The new stuff is cool... but I can’t use it in Warhammer Quest. So ... not so useful.
Making a “Death Adversaries” set of cards would give me solid reason to get stuff.

Looking forward to the new SCE units. Not to crazy about the press fit/easy build models though. The castings are just not as crisp as the models made from a pile of bits.
OftKilted
@OftKilted

I actually disagree with you on that crispness. I’ll use the current Shadespire models as a reference. Those are really seriously finely detailed.
The question is: “how finely detailed will they attempt to pull off for the mass market starter?”
The 2015 Khorne Bloodbound were rather “soft” I’ll use the MLoK as a prime example.

I hope you are correct. The models I have in mind are Sce v Khorne starter set models.
The Libs/Retributers from the starter box are not nearly as good as the full kits.

@OftKilted
Jun 05 2018 21:36
Yeah ... those were the initial release models and were ... not the best. But they weren’t the new easy build in the same sense. Hey still required glue, they just were explicitly monopose models.
The monopose models have improved in the 2+ years, the Silver Tower Tzaangor were pretty darn good.
And they were entirely monopose.
Even looking at the MLoK I can see the softness in detail in the current production units.

Regardless, GW will get some of my money for the new starter box.

@rweyrauch Yeah... Sylvaneth is seriously painful. I’m about 1/3 to 1/2 the way through dealing with the battalion issues.
The battalion validation appears to have been a copy of all of a units various RSEs into the battalion, with minimums selected on the actual RSE copy... and not placed into an SSEG with the minimums at SSEG level.
And then copies of the unit SSE for units that had modifications to the SSE internal number valuation.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jun 05 2018 22:12
So, even when a unit is hidden, If it enforces a minimum number selection, it will still give you that many ... so, a Battleline unit that has an rse for battleline and other, with a min of 4 min ... Will give you 4... and then hide the unit from the selection list. Even though it is in the roster.
Rick Weyrauch
@rweyrauch
Jun 05 2018 22:13
Hmm. For the other Order battalions, I was able to quickly create a SSE
Rick Weyrauch
@rweyrauch
Jun 05 2018 22:19
...was able to create a SGE for each init requirement. I then added the constraints and finally copied the needed RSE into the SGE.

I want the new Death stuff, but after all the medical stuff the last 6 months money is tight :worried:
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jun 05 2018 22:20
@rweyrauch Yeah... the issue is the multiple mega-battalions.
@tekton Yeah. I can understand that...
@tekton I know you’ve been crazy busy, and I want to make sure that you’re not overloading yourself in regards to your catalogs. Did you want either @rweyrauch or @FreylisUK or me to snag the Destruction Monstrous Arcanum Units?
Rick Weyrauch
@rweyrauch
Jun 05 2018 22:33
I punted on the SCE megabattalions that allow all any number of SCE units. Rather than recreate all the selections I just added a text rule. No sense in validating when everthing is allowed.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jun 05 2018 22:35
Oh, that was easy. Set it up as an SSE and then just do it once, and then a single link to every place it applied.
For stuff like Tzeentch, where you can do “Any Tzeentch Daemon Unit” there were Units that I had that weren’t able to be normally selected that I added in
The Khorne mega battalions that do that are basically useless. They require min 3 other Warscroll Battalions... and the cheapest one can do those is ~500 points. So ... 1500 points of required battalions, plus the core additional battalion. Plus the usual Bloodthirster

Wow how did I bugger sylvaneth so bad?
Jesus sorry @OftKilted
I must have been far more tired then I thought I was making that stuff
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jun 05 2018 22:43
@alphalas No worries. I got bored and started doing QA checking on random battalions that appeared to have Battalion validation
I’ve already run into issues that I created in Khorne and Tzeentch.
We’re all part of the team, and we’re here to help each other. :smile: I’m more concerned for users who can’t fix stuff. Or the bug reports that we don’t get because someone tries it and it doesn’t work. And then someone (like a guy at my local) who “hates Battlescribe because it’s always wrong”

Fair
Part of the headache I was having was the megabatallions with the bespoke battalions inside of them
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jun 05 2018 22:48
But we’re all volunteers. We have reality outside of the catalog coding we do. And it doesn’t give us a break sometimes.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 05 2018 22:48
This is very true
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jun 05 2018 22:50
@alphalas Yeah, I came up with a rather useful solution to those bespoke battalions. You can either do a limits change (though that doesn’t change the wording on the SSEG) or you do a secondary SSEG they is hidden unless the Ancestor is an instance of “bespoke battalion” and then hide the “normal” Choice if it is.
I did that in the sylvaneth rework branch for oakenbrow and gnarlroot
Was working on those last night.
I believe that Gnarlroot is done.
I got lazy and started just putting 0-1: and 1-3: as the SSEG labels ...
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jun 05 2018 22:56
And I managed to figure out how to force checkboxes instead of radio buttons for single selection choices. So a “Checkbox” instead of a Radio button pair with “None” and another one with “Choice”

It was a lack of a “General” link issue, and the “Allegiance ability rule” wasn’t linked. Really minor stuff
