is it just me or is the Nighthaunt Procession battalion completely useless?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 02:03
that sounds like a good half of the sigmar batallions
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:05
like it literally gives you the same ability that you just get by being Nighthaunt Allegiance
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:05
@WindstormSCR A friend of mine calculated that a full version of it was something like 13,000 points?
@acebaur Yep ... it’s potentially useful in mega battles... that’s about it
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:06
how would a redundant abilty be useful? maybe because you don't have to be pure nighthaunt?
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:09
Some of them update/replace versions
Or they give the ability to units in the Battalion that may not have it otherwise. (The Khorne Goretide is like that)
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:13
yeah, this one just gives the same ability that nighthaunts just get as an allegiance which is why I'm confused
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:14
Which one?
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:14
Deathless Spririts
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:16
It’s not identical.
It’s close, but the battle Trait versions require “wholly within”
The procession does not
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:17
ah ok
that's a very minor boost for such a huge amount of points sink
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:18
It’s ... a mega battle item that probably makes it easier to play with. You can’t even (likely) take it in a non-mega battle fight... too many heroes required I believe
It’s like most of the major mega battalions ... Khorne Daemon battalions are similar. They can’t even be taken at minimum levels in under 2700 or so Points
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:20
ok gotcha
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:21
You can take the “non mega battalions” at less ... but that’s only one of the reasons you don’t see many large Khorne Daemon battalions around. All the Tzeentch ones are able to be taken at under 2000 points
Maybe not optimally anymore
But they technically can be done
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 02:35
I present you beastclaws alfrostuns that require a rather stupid number of mammoths
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:35
Wow ... this is awesome ... they’re updating their fracking epub3 docs ...
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:36
what do you mean?
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:36
Literally just that.
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:36
whats updated about them? and which ones?
I guess it what I was getting at lol
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 02:37
Okay, ages ago I grabbed Skirmish on the warhammerdigital site
It had effed up the unit limits for Kairic Acolytes and Tzaangor
Min10 in squad
Max 40 or something silly
Just re-downloaded it because “it was supposedly faq updated”....
And holy crap ... it was!
.... this ... is a game changer
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Jul 10 2018 02:45
nice
So I'm seeing some of the unreleased Nighthaunts
DAAAMNNN
new executioner is fucking sweet
as are the Revenants

@/all If you have a Digital download version (epub3 or iBooks enhanced edition) Battletome That received a FAQ/errata update GW actually updated (nearly all) of the battletomes (looks like Seraphon (tablet edition) May not have been updated with FAQ’s ... but the iBooks enhanced edition did)
They’re available on warhammerdigital and iBooks store

@FreylisUK Thoughts on the old 'removed' battalions?
While they were 'removed' they technically still 'exist' they just exist for anything other than 'Open Play'. Thoughts on just giving them an (OPEN PLAY ONLY) tag and removing their points cost?
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 13:59
@/all For battalions that are removed from Matched Play (or current battletome) Should those be left in and just transitioned to 'OPEN PLAY' labeling (with points removed)? Stripped out? Left with points, but given a 'OPEN PLAY' designation?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 10 2018 14:06
Remove points, add open play only tag so they hide unless open
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 14:08
@alphalas Have you seen this insanity for Seraphon Start Collecting set? http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/getting-the-most-from-your-start-collecting-seraphon-box.20560/

Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 10 2018 14:14
Hey they added an edit function on mobile, cool
Yeahhhhh it is
But holy crap
I’m not sure any of my local events would let that one fly
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 14:16
The finished version looks pretty cool. (from someone who doesn't play Seraphon)
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 10 2018 14:16
Now here’s a question
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 14:17
since 2.0 uses bases, why would they not let it fly?
just measure up to the hight of the regular model if there is a LoS question
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 14:18
You're measuring Base to Base for most stuff anyway. Not Model to Model?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 10 2018 14:18
Are any of the new SCE battalions any good, or are they all like the old ones and practically useless?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 14:18
Hailstorm Battery has its uses
and is cheap
a bunch of the old SCE battalions got nerfbat (Vanguard Wing)
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 14:19
There are a whole bucketlist of battalions that apparently lost points.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 10 2018 14:19
Eh true; idk any conversion that “hides” more the 50% of the model always felt beardy to me; like swampcrons
@OftKilted true
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 14:20
I don't mind them as long as they're not made for the purposes of rules but just to use up spares like that link
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 14:22
@alphalas If I was ever going to actually 'make' a Seraphon army, that is absolutely bonkers cool.
And the Astrolith bearer is pretty cool, IMO.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 10 2018 14:22
But last I looked all the SCE battalions were useless to someone who has SCE built around the starter boxes like me
Oh that astrolith is clever af
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 14:25
Aren't the Troglodons apparently swimmers in lore?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 10 2018 14:25
I don’t remember tbh
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 14:25
Either way, it
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 10 2018 14:26
They might be
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 14:26
is a unique method to get more 'bang for your buck.
With a little bit of creativity, and a nice paint job and some sculpy clay.
Might not be able to play it in a tournament, but I'd play against it on the table. (Much rather play that than the insanity that currently is Lord Kroak.)
(not sure I'd want to play against that ... at all.)

So, the iBooks version (and likely the GW epub3 version) of DoT has ‘partial points updates’ where Some units were updated to 2018 points ... and others weren’t.
However, it does have all the official FAQ’s.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 17:49
local tzeentch guy will be happy, no more digging through. 8 pages of FAQ
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 19:00
Yeah...
That is absolutely awesome. Still need to fix the minor issues... but it’s an amazing amount better
(Like stuff they missed in the FAQ)
And get those points fixed.
Or removed
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 19:18
Any thoughts on the “alpha Battlescribe” releases that support libraries? I assume still not really ready for prime time!
?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 19:20
interesting, possibly useful for certain things that are used in multiple catalogs
less useful in AoS I think than 40k or HH
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 20:14
@WindstormSCR You do not know how insanely useful this will be for Chaos... (and death)
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 20:14
examples? or are you referring to separating out by god keyword
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 20:15
So ... ALL of Slaves to Darkness (with minimal exceptions) can be used in any of the 'god keyword' armies.
Similarly with a number of Daemons.
When configuring the Everchosen battalions, right now they can't be validated without including entire catalogs. (though that may not be the best idea.)
Multiple places for Sylvaneth Battalion validation they have other source catalogs (duardin/sce/etc) for units availability.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 20:17
ah yes, gnarlroot
any order wizard :P
I was seriously considering going treepeople but destruction is just fun
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 20:18
Disciples of Tzeentch can technically take the Gaunt Summoner from Everchosen ... (though that version doesn't have the Arcanite keyword) ....
And then there's Nurgle.
Nurgle encompasses, Skaven Pestilens, Tamurkhan's Horde, Slaves to Darkness, some Daemons of Chaos ...
And then we're looking at Forgeworld.
Death is a 'mess' of keywords right now. Splitting into multiple libraries might make some validation easier. (though adding 'Allegiance: < allegiance >') might be a better solution.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 20:23
Skaven is similar.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 10 2018 20:31
tbh if you're going to reorganize cats the best solution to my mind is making a logic diagram of how the various factions interact
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 10 2018 20:38
In general, the forgeworld cat would likely be the first (and easiest) of the options.
It gets used in multiple locations in all of the factions.
And putting it in a single location as a library would be an easy solution.
Putting Grand Alliance Allegiance traits into a separate library bears merit as well.
Split them out into separate GA's.
