Normaly i side with RAW 100% And im 90% with it, and RAI is 100% in favor of restriction.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 00:00
It is. Because there is no such thing as individual items in the army list entry for the items in question. And that "1 individual" is the minimum for the army list entry
True_Hisop
@hisop
Mar 04 2016 00:01
Why are the other entries diferent?
GW is dumb but not that dumb
They can proof read, and even then across multiple releases armies and formations a repeat mess up of the exact nature that has never been erratad?
OftKilted
@OftKilted

back to "Formations are collections of army list entries"
I beg to differ in the proofreading. Out discussions here talking about how to handle artefact type items for catalogs belies your idea

p64 of the Necron book - Formations will list the ALE which make up the formation, and any restrictions upon what it may include. The restriction being 1 spyder, 1 stalker, 1 dunecrawler
Tomorrow it is then

@Kohato that however isn't listed in the restrictions on the formations. It's implied as a RAI.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 04 2016 00:07
Ah - right on that.
Disregard that bit then, restrictions have no bearing on tha.

@cartag I'm seeing the issue with v46 of the Chaos Daemons catalog (currently published) where I can add a DP as an HQ, and then it forces me to make a choice of mark. But the choice list is empty.
It appears to work properly in the Daemon Prince - Heavy Support, when a proper greater daemon is selected.

@DrTobogganMD
Mar 04 2016 16:20
Looks like some hide conditionals were added to each of the 4.
blob
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 16:29
Is that for both the HQ version, and the Heavy Support version?
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 04 2016 16:30
Both, thought the Heavy Support version has the additional Hide conditional
blob
But I can't get the choice to show even If I include all 3 Khorne greaters ...

Selecting any of the Bloodthirsters allows access in the Heavy Support side.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 04 2016 16:32
Yea, Looking closer - those are set to "and"
The HQ" is set to "Or"
which would hide it unless all of those units are present

v48 is up

Interesting side question ... while you can't take them as part of the 'standard list creation process' for Helforged artefacts do you have to write it out on the sheet as to what you rolled for?
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 16:46
Yes, just like warlord traits
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 16:46
i.e. How do you track those artefacts and their bonuses in game?
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 16:46
for the original ones that came in the C:CD dex
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 16:46
yep, the original ones.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 16:46
The same way they have been since the book came out? The rules weren't in the data file
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 16:48
I've just recently picked up C:CD, which is why I was curious.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 16:48
I didn't remove any functionality for it
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 16:49
I couldn't have seen you wanting to remove functionality, that would have been unusual.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 16:49
None of them affect stats anyway
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:03
I thought one of the greater rewards might have? But I might be remembering wrong.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 04 2016 17:03
I always just treated them like Psyker powers when I played chaos. Wrote them all on the same sheet.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:03
That being said, it's an enhancement request that is definitely low priority.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 17:16
Greater rewards don't have artefacts, only the highest one. @Kohato is right, they should be the same as psychic powers.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:21
Given that I mainly played necrons prior to my recent conversion to Chaos (and Path to Glory), and Psychic powers weren't something I focused on, how were they being handled?
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 17:22
In Battlescribe they weren't.
You roll for them at the start of the game, in front of your opponent
The Lesser/Greater/Exalted Rewards should be the same way. THAT is when you should decide if you're taking the artefact instead of your result on the Exalted table.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:25
Which makes sense. With the addition of the actual artefacts you can purchase, I can see that creating interesting issues on the side from a validation standpoint. And it looks like there are some daemonic rewards that add rules/stats.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 17:25
And that's why you should have your codex in front of you for it.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:26
Back to tables, how much do you put into the catalog v.s. having to have an additional printout/sheet.
I can see why there could be lots of frustration at the randomness of C:CD, and wanting assistance in managing some of that randomness by battlescribe, or at least the ability to flag 'that's what I rolled' and then have your stuff digitally in one place.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 17:28
So make one page in Word, put your tables on it, print it off, and laminate it.
If it's something you're going to use literally every game, it's a waste of ink and paper to have it printed off every time.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:29
But I don't print my sheets out, I run everything digital off of a mobile device. At worst I'm wasting electrons.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 17:29
Well good for you then
Get your codex digitally too and flip between them
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:30
I do. it's a pain.
BS to Codex to rulebook.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 17:31
And guess what, people who have everything printed out have to check their printed out roster sheet, their codex, and BRB.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:31
Digital rulebooks are great for searching. but bouncing back and forth between multiple books can be painful.

Pretty brutal. I know.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 04 2016 17:44
Haha. I usually think of battlescribe as: this should have everything I need before first setup step. Anything after (warlord,Psyker,gifts,etc) are rolled from the codex and written down.
(Also why I prefer physical books)
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:48
I prefer digital (in general) because they are updated with the FAQs, easily searched. But I have reference sheets printed out. Just not roster sheets.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 04 2016 17:50
I keep a nice binder of printed army lists. I can see where some army's wouldn't do that, but Necrons have so few options, it's easier to do that with them.
cartag
@cartag
Mar 04 2016 17:51
I have a laminated sheet with rules common to my KDK army, weapon profiles and stats on the other side.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 04 2016 17:52
I have the same for the brb rules. Dakkadakka has a reference sheet that the author keeps updated. Rather nice to have posted by my game board.
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Mar 04 2016 17:59
And for the most part, those additionalk rules are what I refer back to my digital forces roster and the 'Selection Rules' part of battlescribe.
