Glad to help. Regarding that 'a single model unit cannot be a model and a unit at the same time' bug, any way to report that to Jon Taylor, or is it a known shortcoming?

it's known. there are a few workarounds, but it's annoying, so let's just wait for next revision. It affects all single-model-units (like Vehicles and HQs).

Anyone aware of an "easy" way to 'unroll' Rules? I.e. Daemon of X gives Daemon, which gives fear... It doesn't appear that you can link rules to other rules...
(Other than just copying the unrolled rules into the main rule)

Make an entry with both rules under "entry: deamon of X" ->"rule: fear, rule: deamon"

Yep. If you really want to embed it. Make a link to rule daemon. And in the rule daemon make a link to fear.

I was having issues with the sub linking

Which is probably better organizationally ... then if for whatever reason deamons don't have the rule Deamon anymore you can just remove that one and not forget about fear.

Probably not looking at it right.
(I'm trying to make a "learning version" for myself for the army in currently playing as the rabbit hole of X gives Y gets pretty deep in 40k)

Right. Rules cannot have links to other rules. You have to do it as Entries. Possible to use minselections+maxSelections, but if you use a link to the container entry then you have to use an entry group to cause it to be pre-selected.
There are many rules like that. Not to mention all the profiles with links to Fleshbane, Melta, etc.
In my catalogs so far, I have to assume that everyone knows the rule for Twin-linked, Melta, Armourbane, Fleshbane, Pinning, and Master-Crafted or else I'd have to enter the entire base rulebook.

Perhaps linking rules

Especially once you start "unrolling" the rules. IMHO you'd be better giving your buddy the 40k cheat sheet.

I
I already have that.
The issue I ran into was the rabbit hole of X giving y, and missing attacks and other rules. Perhaps being able to link rules is a feature that would be pretty cool to have?

I set a shared entry up. Like for Daemon, it would then have the daemon rule and a link to the others it supplies

@cartag which catalog did you build it for?

let me look to double check
The CSM file has it for Marks
Maybe I didn't do it for daemons
nm, in the CD book I just have the individual Daemon rules (Khorne, Nurgle, etc)

Right. Modifiers and such can only key on Entries. not on rules. So if you want to add +1 Attacks, then you'll have to use an Entry for the modifier condition. there's no way around it.

@efalsken for modifiers keying on entries that is fairly standard practice. (Painful but standard) But linking rules to other rules would allow easier "deep linking" to clarify interactions (at least in the rules section)
Though ... Being able to so a "if Rule X is applied, apply this modifier" would be rather useful

already tried going down that rabbit hole with BS. Would require a lot of reworking.

I was just working on a personal catalog that could reference the rules as I'm learning a new army.

i'm of the opinion that I should not modify the base profile beyond changing unit type or adding an invul save. They don't stack well all the time (set-to vs add-to) and make it unclear which bonuses have been added to the base profile unless you also modify the name. And that gets just downright crazy with all the modifiers.
