@cartag The formation doesn't appear to be linked?
cartag

It's not a formation. It's a detachment. And it is linked.

Clarification on why we would use formation detachment, vs a detachment?

What?
It's not a formation detachment, it's a different FOC.

So, there is a type called 'Formation Detachment' what's a 'Formation Detachment'?

That is how you add formations to your roster, they're not part of a CAD
I'll elaborate more when I get home, getting ready to drive, morning after a concert

Ok, so a "formation detachment" isn't spelled out as anything specific in the rules. What it is in BS is a detachment made up or one or many formations. In the case of the Renegade Knights, there are no formations for them, and a grand total of one model for the entire faction right now. They can't be taken in a CAD, they can't be Allied Detachment because there's no LoW slot in an Allied Detachment. Instead, it is listed in BS as the "Chaos RK Forsworn Knight Detachment."

Right. It's just a Battlescribe category for "40k formations". Technically in the 40k Base Rulebook they do form a Detachment of their own, but it's never called a "Formation Detachment" in the rulebook.

The BrB indicates that a "Formation is a special type of detachment..." ... "Unlike other Detachments, Formations can also be taken as part of Unbound armies." At what point should we modify the 'Formation Detachment' listing, v.s. Add a new Detachment type in the main listing?

Ah, now that's interesting. For the Forsworn Knight Detachment "This Detachment cannot be your primary detachment" So ... minimum viable list would be two units of cultists (troops) and Vrosh Tattersoul (HQ) and then your knights. (Though, 2x cultists, and 1x herald of khorne in daemonkin would be viable)

Huh interesting.

So, you're working with 2x detachments. And you could give the Renegade Knight one of the Legacies of Ruin.
So ... Renegade Knight, with the +1 daemon save legacy ... and lots of other daemons on the board.

Where do you see that you could give it a legacy?
Considering the Forsworn is in no way a formation, it doesn't affect this in the slightest.

Yep, you're right. Not seeing the formation icon.

Plus there's no formation datasheet. It's just a custom FOC like the one in the original WAAAH Ghazghkull (sp?) supplement
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Apr 18 2016 22:13
And unless they decide to count renegades as a "c:CSM supplement" no legacies
cartag
@cartag
Apr 18 2016 22:21
Yes, but why would they consider it a supplement? It says they're their own faction.
cartag
@cartag
Apr 18 2016 22:45
Oh wait, I can make that sentence better: It says there they're their own faction. :D

@cartag Yep! I was planning on adding the Ion shield, as it's a default component of the Knights.
Unless you want to add it?

It falls under the area of Chaos, back off :P
It should be in there, is it not?

It does, which was why I asked ;-)

I know, but this is a friendly discussion of me QA'ing stuff. I figured I'd trust but verify :-)
Rather than me opening an issue for something you already had. You like to edit stuff on the sly... And sneak in corrections. And it might just be in the git, but not published to appspot

That's why I'm so picky about me being the one to do the updates, typically I have a lot of things going in to be changed and it makes my life a lot easier if others don't help... that and this feels like it's the one part of my life I have any control over these days
OftKilted

And I totally respect that, which is why I ask, rather than jump in, and try to keep others from jumping in on Chaos stuff
I'm seriously appreciative for the work on the Chaos catalogs... As a side note, It's interesting that Army Builder had a bug in their data file which was where one of the winners added in items that he didn't legitimately have points to do. Which put him down on an entire unit.
