It was only a matter of time before #2575 was asked. It's good to know we were all prepared and had worked on things beforehand.
It's good I set up https://github.com/BSData/wh40kbs2 four and a half months ago. Great work everybody!

I'm going to try to get the Ork Cat upgraded to BS2 compatibility this afternoon. Do I work in the bsdata/wh40k now, or should I work in bsdata/wh40kbs2?
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 14:25
nope, all in wh40k
the bs2 fork can pretty much be sunsetted now. Amis threw my 1.15 backup into the main repo

Just a few notes while you do your upgrade work.

1) Conditionals/Constraints should ALL be looked at to ensure all is good.
2) All BRB rules/profiles were added to the GST. So you can remove them from the Ork Cat and simply link to them now.
3) You should strip out the Ork specific detachments from the GST and then add them to the Ork Cat. (This will end up in 2 file changes, one for the GST and one for your Ork cat). If you're not comfortable editing the GST for fear of breaking other things, just let me or @cartag know when you've added the force entries into the Ork cat and we can verify and remove from GST.

Thanks. Yeah, a good number of constraints have broken, and I'll get them fixed asap.
I've never modified the GST, so I'll let you guys take care of it when I'm ready.
I'm also inclined to roll the Dread Mob Cat into the Ork Codex cat at this time unless someone is against it.

Go for it.
If you can combine it, no reason to have 2
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 14:32
Yeah it will require a "No Force Org" flag to be set, but otherwise it isn't a big deal to combine.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 14:32
The only time that is an issue is with supplements like R&H or Tyrant's Legion where the entire available army list changes.
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 14:32
It changes a few things, mainly Force Org selections. I can manage that I think
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 14:33
Making X a troop instead of fast attack is easy enough to work around, or things like that
let me know if you need help

@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 14:34
One more thing, my changes could definitely nuke existing saved rosters. How far do I need to go to maintain backwards compatability?
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 14:34
Don't.
that's how far.
Major Upgrade = new roster files, that's just how it is

@Kohato , @cartag : sorry I've been away for so long. Are all of the files upgraded to v2 now? is that official?
I got assigned some bugs, but the .cat file is corrupt. (bs 1.15)

@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 15:39
GST, SM, Chaos, Harleys, Necrons are all 2.0 converted
I converted the tau book to 2.0 only in that I stripped the forces out of the GST
I didn't touch the conditionals yet
Yea, You can get the 2.0 editor from https://battlescribe.net/?tab=downloads

the zip build should work fine, jon's having issues with the installer now that he's working on

then I'll see about uploading a patch later today.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 15:43
(y) should just require a once-over for the constraints (min/max)
2.0 redid all that
Eric Falsken
@efalsken
Oct 31 2016 15:43
ok

Oct 31 2016 16:10
Will we update CAD to allow 0-1 Fortifications now that it's integrated?
Would be nice to do away with "fortification detachment" once and for all.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 16:11
it already is :)
@cartag has BRB rules/profiles/fortifications fully done in the new gst

I've got all the constraints except for 1 fixed for Battlescribe 2.0. The one holding me up is related to collections.
blob
Ork Boyz can either take Slugga or Shoota, but the entire mob has to take the whole thing. Is there a way I can do that with constraints and collections?
My current thought is to Add it as and upgrade for the squad and show or hide the Shoota / Slugga wargear as appropriate like the Eavy Armour for Mob Upgrade, but I feel like there is a better way.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 17:27
Collective was behaving oddly for Necrons as well
And yea, that's how I worked around it in necrons
"Squad Weapon Choice"
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 17:27
OK. That's how I'll do it. thanks.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 17:28
The issue is, collective will match qty - you have 30 boys, you will have 30 sluggas.
but your min/max is 1
hence, conflict.
It was easier to just do the squad choice
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 17:28
yep. I see why it would conflict, I just didn't see an elegant solution
I'm also having trouble with Github. It is showing that i've modified every Catalog in my branch even though I only touched the Ork one. Is there something about the new format that is breaking the Github desktop app?
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 17:32
No clue there. I upload files manually
I like the github app for smaller repos or projects with less people contributing
but for a larger one like this its easier for me to just manually upload and grab a fresh repo when changes are made to other files
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 17:34
hmmm. OK. I'll manually upload it if it doesn't start working by the time I'm done.

@tag8833

I'm still struggling with collections and constraints:
blob
So, the squad level upgrade adds points correctly, but the collections aren't populating right. Boyz default to having 1 choppa per, but BS gives you the option to deselect it even though I've set it to a minimum of 1. It just gives a Roster validation error.
cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:31
it lets you deselect it?
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:31
It shouldn't be a selection because all of the collections have a min / max of 1 or a min / max of 0
blob
cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:32
What happens if you just tell it to hide the Slugga if you select the Shoota?
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:32
It still lets you deselect it, it just doesn't give you the other option
This is what it looks like when I hide shootas:
blob
And if the upgrade is selected they both show:
blob
cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:36
How about this: leave choppas how they are, and instead of having Shootas and Sluggas differently, make an entry group that gives the option of SLugga (default) or Shoota (1 pt per model)
Max selections in entry group 1, min 1
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:36
That is how it was, but it doesn't work with BS2 because of collections
cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:37
It should... the entire group gets upgraded, right?
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:37
Everyone but the sargent
cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:37
I'm taking a look at the last version
and what isn't working with collective flags?
I have several things set up like this
I thought anyway... double checking
Ok, so pull the Choppa and Slugga/Shoota kerfuffle out of the Boy section, put it where "Shootas for Mob" is now
Just have the choppa as min/max 1, and the other an entry group marked as collective. Pull it out of the Boy entry so it will stand alone
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:42
That would probably work
But it isn't ideal, because the Nob doesn't have to have the same wargear
I mean if that is the way to do it, I can make it happen, I was just hoping for a better way that keeps it tied to the boyz.
cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:46
Are you wanting it to show "30 sluggas" or "30 choppas" or whatever on the roster?
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:46
blob
This is the problem isn't it?
I have the condition tied to the shared upgrade instead of a parent or something directly related.

Here you are
blob
cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:48
that should be fine, it shouldn't need to be tied to Parent
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:49
To answer your former question, yes, my goal was for it to show 30x Boy -_ 30x Sluggas
Like this:

cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:50
I just realize I have things set up like this, without decrementing the number of Bolt Pistols in my groups
blob
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:51
Yeah, I'm trying to avoid that if possible. If not I'll live with it.
cartag
@cartag
Oct 31 2016 21:51
I'm trying to think of an elegant way to do it
there's not that I can think of and have it show in the unit itself
like on the model how it is there
but I'm thinking
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:52
I feel like my method should work. I don't fully understand how BS is interpreting the interactions between constraints and collections.
Back when I 1st worked the Ork Data file there were 2 types of boyz. Shoota Boyz, and Slugga Boyz. I might be able to increment those entries more effectively.
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 21:58
Nope. BS isn't enforcing constraint changed by modifier in the selection process. Only in the validation. That is annoying.
If I set a constraint of a maximum of 30 boyz then Battlescribe won't let me select more than 30. But if I modify that constraint to 20 with a condition, battlescribe will let me select more than 20, but complains about it in validation. That is annoying.
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Oct 31 2016 22:03
Have you found many problems with non enforced constraints? For instance, you set something to a min & max of 1, but then modify to a min and max of 0, and it is still selected requiring the user to deselect it?
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 31 2016 22:06
@amis92 Hey, any reason we're seeing Killteam notifications in this room now? I never noticed them before.

Oct 31 2016 22:29
Got it:
blob
I rename the selection entry from "slugga" to "Shoota". And the I hide the slugga profile, and show the shoota one. Works like a charm.
Eric Falsken
@efalsken
Oct 31 2016 23:55
is it supposed to be stupid to "auto-select" options via a required min 1 in parent and max 1 in parent?
seems like an auto-select should be easier?
and I absolutely hate that the constrait has to exist on a selection before it can be modified (via link)
since there's no way to tell if anything has a link or modifier to it without deleting it.... and there's no undo
