@alphalas is there a reason you just dont set the cost of the flamers to 0 in the sisters of silance cat?

Second silly question: I seem to be enable to open .cat files in the data editor and I can't find where to get the catalogue editer. Am I being blind/stupid?

Erm, that's a little odd, are you sure you've opened the data editor, not the roster editor...?
Matt Buckley
@buggritt
Apr 21 2017 07:30
Positive. I checked several times. I can edit the .gst but not the .cat files. I've checked the game id in the .cat and it matches that in the .gst. I'm now stuck

Hmmmm... And I assume you went through the usual github install and repo download and so on, and that you've been given access to the repo to edit the files...? (just trying to get a lay of the land..)

Yep, join request followed by the quick start and dev guides also the video. Downloaded battlescribe for windows onto my desktop. There's a page for the catalogue editor but no details on where to download it and the download link took me to where I got battlescribe in the first place. I appreciate the help, ask whatever you need

Where have you been able to edit the .GST up to now?
Matt Buckley
@buggritt
Apr 21 2017 07:47
Battelscribe data editor
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Apr 21 2017 07:49
Well that's just weird, you should be able to edit the .cat files the same way as the .GST, it's the same editor for both...
Can you see the other files in the data editor but not open them...?
Matt Buckley
@buggritt
Apr 21 2017 07:50
ok well that actually gelps a little. I'm getting a 'nullpointer' java error when I try to open a .cat file in e data editor. I assumed that was because I needed the catalogue editor
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Apr 21 2017 07:51
Hmmm... A screenshot of the error would do wonders (I'm running out of ideas)...

I know the feeling. Two secs

is that an ok image?

Perfect 👌
Have you tried creating a roster for SW:A...?
Matt Buckley
@buggritt
Apr 21 2017 07:58
Not on the desktop, would you like me to try?
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Apr 21 2017 07:59
Yes please, either you'll get the same error, or it'll fix itself :+1:

I haven't downloaded the data files for the roster. That's the problem isn't it
family's waking up so I'll test that theory later. Thank you for the help Farseer!

Apr 21 2017 08:29
No worries, you can link the roster editor to use the files you already downloaded, this is how you can test your edits immediately :smile: have fun!

I've run into that error in the past. Have you cloned the repo to somewhere that isn't the battlescribe data folder?

@GenWilhelm nice to see it's not just me who can select transports for their strategium command kill teams :smile:

I found this bug about two weeks ago, fixed it last week and released it yesterday I think... I'm surprised no-one else found it before then, but it is funny that these bugs only crop up AFTER something has been fixed...!!
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 11:52
well if you hadnt fixed it earlier we would have at least five separate people telling us about it by now
instead we just have one who doesnt do an update before complaining about a bug

@GenWilhelm I have yes, I'll sort that out too. Thank you for the help both
Gotta get this finished for tomorrow lol

alight, i have a problem.
the custodes sentinel guard squad for 30k is 180pts base; however, aditional sentinels are 65pts per. means the basic squad is 15pts pheaper then it should be.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 15:30
from what ive looked at, HH is full of that
but then you work on the repo, so you already know that :)
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 15:31
i hadn't noticed it until now tbh - and it's really annoying because sentinels are pretty flexable with equiptment
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 15:32
are there any upgrades for the squadron that are fixed in cost - not per model?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 15:32
no everything is per model.
the "whole squad" upgrades are per, and the individual weapon options are obviously too
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 15:33
huh, thought it might be like R&H where the models are slightly over-costed, but the upgrades remain fixed per unit
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 15:33
nope - i wish it was.

Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 15:37
up until this point i thought you said "guard sentinels", as in the astra militarum walkers
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 15:38
lol you missed that custodes bit, eh? ;)
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 15:39
yeah, my brain tends to skip over the weird names from 30k
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 15:40
anyway, so how do i fix it?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 15:40
in battlescribe?
make the models 65 pts each and set the unit to be -15pts
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 15:41
that actually works?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 15:41
yeah, why not?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 15:42
ok - i wasnt sure if that would do something wonky with xml
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Apr 21 2017 15:43
dunno, i've used it a few times. just looks a bit strange on the army list when the unit costs less than its children
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 15:43
:+1:
welp thats my bugs taken care of.
christ almighty painting leadbelcher over red is horrid
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Apr 21 2017 15:53
Did you prime leadbelcher?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Apr 21 2017 16:33
No - it's a contemptor that was previously painted and I'm trying to preserve the original armor plate colors while painting the mech bits leadbelcher - I gave up and just painted black first to cover the red
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Apr 21 2017 16:34
Oh I read that backwards. Yeah I would paint back to black either way.
The one on the left is the One I was trying to preserve the red on – the two on the right I'm just preserving the mech bits
Taking the last 2 out to be sprayed black now
Good fucking enough
