Well, there's always next time :smile: sounds good about the locker though, if you really enjoy going to that shop of course :-)
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:06
YES! You can now drag nearby units into combat without charging!
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
May 02 2017 14:07
but only if theyre the closest enemy
depending on how restrictive the charge move is that could be a nice bonus
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:08
3" to do it would be plenty
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:09
isnt the closest enemy automatically the one you charged?
so... a glorified pile in?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:10
Not necessarily
I've actually been in combat where the closest enemy unit to models in a combat were not at all engaged in that combat
Seems to happen more in AOS or HH though
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:13
I don'T get how that would happen unless you wipe out the closest models in the fight phase... You need to be within 1" to initiate melee. How can another unit be closer than that that is NOT in the fight?
unless you wipe out models in the fight, remove casualties and now a unit standing basically directly nearby suddenly is closer
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
May 02 2017 14:14
pile in happens per model
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:15
No - I've had charges where I could have multi-charged but didn't
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
May 02 2017 14:15
so models at the sides and back of a unit could be closer to a flanking unit than their target
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:15
but you'd need to stand 1" away because not in melee?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:15
So I had to move my charging models into b2b while staying 1" away from the other unit
Yes
But it was with 15 assault marines
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:16
so if you're b2b... how is the other unit closer?
unless... while piling in...
ah... I think I get it now
the pile in circumvents the 1" restriction
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:16
So there was like 6" between the 2 enemy units - my marines filled most of that gap due to the angle of assault
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:17
so you can "pile into the other unit"
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:17
Correct
Not quite as good as OG consolidating into combat, but still good
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:18
this gonna crack some 40kers heads. I'm smart and didnt get it at once :P
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:19
Yup
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:20
guess you heret... aoesers are more familiar with the concept
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:20
I've done it several times - I've actually also used the 1" bubble to my advantage too so I like it
I've done it more in HH then AoS lol
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:21
I understand.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:21
I tend to try to not get everything stuck in that close with my lizards
IX legion though? We live for the fight
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:22
huehuehue
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:24
Pains me to say this, but IX legion is the orks of the SM
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:25
wolves?
so.. DA are the anti-orks?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:26
Ehhh... yeah I guess wolves are more orky
Yeah - since you fuckers aren't big on getting stuck in
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:26
tell that to the Deathwing.
we just let you come, blast you to pieces and THEN rip and tear!
makes sense to use those guns, ya know?
kind of curious what Deathwing Knights can do in 8th..
also, noticed the name change? :P
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:30
Fight is much as I expected. I like that charging units get to fight first though. Nice reward for braving the buffed overwatch
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:30
Lol yeah I just did - epic
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:30
Swarm lord hitting on 2+! Maybe he'll be worth his points now
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:31
Oh god - @Thairne - just imagine if true grit came back!
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:31
Also. People really like art in this hobby. Just sold my necrons, tau, farsight, and nids Dexes for 30 each on eBay
Holding off on the data cards til we see what maelstrom missions are like :p
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:33
@alphalas Only started 2013 in 6th.. what was true grit?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:33
I wish people would buy the small armies I posted on FB lol
Assault weapons counted as pistols
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:33
nah I'mma keep my DA dexes. Although the 7th is bad art-wise. Really bad.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:33
I've never had much luck on fb selling
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:33
hah not gonna happen
Shooting heavy flamers in melee?
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:33
People expect huge fucking discounts on fb
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:33
Deathwing, GK, and Deathwatch all had it
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 14:34
storm bolters though.. that would be a nice buff
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:34
Meant GK terminators counted as having 2 cc
Yeah
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:34
Maybe a form of it may come back
Like the count as pistols for attack count
Since when it was in you couldn't fire them lol
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:35
It was pretty much only on units with SBolters, but it was rad
That's the one thing I miss the most from 4e
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:35
I wouldn't mind that. Barging in and gun butting
I thought about keeping mine but decided I don't care enough about the art to give up 120 bucks
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:36
When that went away before the 5e GK book came out it nerfed GK and Deathwatch pretty hard
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:36
That'll go toward the compendiums come June :)
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:36
I have too many codecies to consider selling
I still have a copy of 4e marines and 4e BT
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:37
You can never have too many to consider selling :p
Free shipping sells fast. And media mail is dirt cheap
I sold my 5e blood angels book for 10, was kinda surprised that one went
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:38
Idk maybe
Speaking of selling, shameless plug time
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:39
All depends how comfortable you are watching trend prices :p I used to run an eBay store in Chicago suburbs.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:39
Not a bad price at all
Those groups love trades
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:41
Yeah I figured $300 was fair for either Lot
And with the way 40k is going, that kind of infantry support looks to be pretty good
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:42
It's an assload of infantry
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:42
Yeah - that tau lot is just over half of all the tau non-suit infantry I own
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:42
That reminds me I need an ethereal soon too
I've been using one of the named ones as a generic ethereal for too long lol
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:43
Aun Shi?
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:43
Yea
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 14:45
But yeah, I'm keeping enough infantry to do a counterstrike cadre and that's pretty much it
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 14:45
Luckily my to buy list is rather small now. 4 citadel woods, branch wraith, dryads, farsight, and. Ow an ethereal:)
Maybe a canoptek walker or two.
I have enough infantry to run 2 squads of fire warriors on a tidewall
And some breachers in devilfish. The rest is suits galore
I guess I own 6 pathfinders too. But they never see the field. Drone net of 16 marker lights beats the pants off of them
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 15:13
i use the shit out of the PF/Broadside formation
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 16:58
Alphalas: "I use the shit out of heresy"
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 02 2017 16:59
lol yup
doubled markerlights and supporting fire as long as the PF are in range of the broadsides? hell yeah lol
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
May 02 2017 17:57
Guess what isn't heresy anymore thairne
Xenos
According to the indomitus crusade
Just traitors and chaos :p

@capitaladot
May 02 2017 18:39
The 5e GK book was the most powerful of its era, with exploit units running amuck allover, especially "Rifleman" Dreadnoughts and such. The power level was toned down in 6th with the removal of the stupid "pay 5 points for +1 "mind bullet" gun strength on EVERYTHING".
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
May 02 2017 19:01
its just the lesser of heresies. It's still heresy, just not the focus currently.... wait till the tau go "oh hey, we can go SPHERE OF EXP ..."BLAM
