Rang Forgworld today and they agreed to refund me for 3 rapier batteries and a deredeo dreadnought (that have been built) due to changes made to them in the FAQ

Jul 10 2017 09:36 UTC
Wow, did the FAQ make them shit or something?
James
@skonk
Jul 10 2017 09:37 UTC
not really but made them not useful for why i got them
i bought the index and based on that i bought the models
to use with my Death Guard
since DG cant use havocs I got the rapier quad bolters in place of havocs
but the FAQ has said Rapiers can't be DG and World Eaters
sorry DG and Thousand Sons
they can be world eaters and emps children for some reason
and the doredeo has a shield that in the index said 5+ inv save to any friendly legion unit within 6 inch of it
since i'd found Pox Walkers died like shit (would be better just taking more cultists imo) the shield from that made them good
so idea was to blob 2 or 3 big units of pox walkers around the dread so they got the 5+ inv
that doesnt work now
im not gonna complain about the changes, if they feel its needed so be it
but since its a brand new book and i bought the models based on that new book i felt a bit hard done by
and i'd not gone out of my way to try to buy stuff that looked broken or anything, nothing about the rules for these seemed odd and no real reason to think the rapiers for example would be exempt from use for death guard

the FAQ has actually buffed some of my other stuff, Dread Claws can carry Leviathans now (i own 2 of each so yay) and the leviathans can now have 2 ranged weapons if you so chose, which before they could only take 1
id almost spent 60 quid on an archmagos model to use a hellwright, glad i didnt cos they removed its ability to heal all the forgeworld vehicles

Can I be added to #743
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 10 2017 11:04 UTC
Hmmm, apparently not... I think you need some settings adjusting on github, either by @amis92 or @alphalas.

Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 10 2017 11:09 UTC
Right on, right on
So would it be better to make a branch and work from that or continue from my fork?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 10 2017 11:12 UTC
up to you, i dont think there's a major difference

Hmmm....GitHub Desktop has been cloning BSData/wh40k for a while now. Anyone else having issues?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 10 2017 11:49 UTC
just re-cloned it, no problems here
maybe you have to log out and back in to update permissions, or something?
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 10 2017 11:50 UTC
I tried that, no joy
Though I wouldn't think simply cloning a repository would require any permissions
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 10 2017 11:51 UTC
dont know, im not fully clued up on git
i assumed thats what forks were for :D
the only thing i can think to suggest is kill the process, to make sure github isnt running. then purge local data and try again

@amis92
Jul 10 2017 12:13 UTC
@CrusherJoe might be an issue if you're behind corporate proxy. They don't like https. What OS?
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 10 2017 12:14 UTC
MacOS -- I just re-forked and cloned from there, that worked immediately
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Jul 10 2017 12:14 UTC
Also if it's not something requiring collaboration, you're better with a fork.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 10 2017 12:15 UTC
So.....you're telling me to....(wait for it)....fork off? :) :) :)
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Jul 10 2017 12:15 UTC
Haha yeah
CloverFox
@CloverFox
Jul 10 2017 12:16 UTC
you should be able to clone any public repo, obviously if you don't have write permissions you wont be able to push, but clone should work fine
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Jul 10 2017 12:16 UTC
Also might help - some guides on working with fork in 40k repo https://github.com/BSData/wh40k/wiki/Help:-Working-on-a-fork
CloverFox
@CloverFox
Jul 10 2017 12:20 UTC
also if you want to reset your fork, rather than deleting your fork and re forking, you can do a hard reset and force push https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9646167/clean-up-a-fork-and-restart-it-from-the-upstream
it will eat local commits though, but i guess if you want to refork you don't really care about that
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Jul 10 2017 12:20 UTC
Ooh nice link, I'll add that to the wiki
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 10 2017 12:21 UTC
I get the feeling that I should just go with good old fashioned cli git sometimes
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Jul 10 2017 12:23 UTC
If you follow wiki, not necessary. If you don't fear cli, it's god mode. I use GUI for most common things and fallback to cli for complex tasks.

Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 10 2017 15:08 UTC

@FarseerVeraenthis good job. I've just added note to continue discussion in that issue. (Meritoric discussions are better off in issues as they won't get lost in gitter's den)
