new wrinkle to the fun
apparently deathwatch can use some primaris units but not all
none of the dark imperium stuff but all the new stuff >.>
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 25 2017 04:57
How so?
"Add all of these units to the list of units that can be from the
Blood Angels (pg 89,
Index: Imperium 1
), Dark Angels (pg 107,
Index: Imperium 1
), Space Wolves (pg 130,
Index Imperium 1
)
and Deathwatch (pg 171,
Index: Imperium 1
) Chapters (or their
Successors). "
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 25 2017 05:04
however the two units I actually want to use with deathwatch are the precise two that I can't
go figure
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 25 2017 05:04
Lol. Maybe that will change
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 25 2017 05:29
The others are already listed in imperium 1 aren't they??
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 25 2017 05:30
yep, and not on the DW allowed list
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 25 2017 05:41
so apparently Konor is all power level
and narrative rules
time for my deathwatch to shine
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 25 2017 05:42
Oh, where did you see that?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 25 2017 05:42
was on the campaign site
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 25 2017 05:43
And that's a bit of a bummer about the units list, hopefully it'll be faq'd...
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 25 2017 05:43
knowing deathwatch the FAQ will remove primaris from them
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 25 2017 05:45
At least I don't have to get on the bandwagon...

I'm looking forward to my RG now
infantry heavy is my preferred style from HH
and the new CT favor that and help make it work well
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:21
I see the SM codex has removed a bunch of units
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 09:21
is it fully leaked now?
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:21
but luckily the FAQ says you can still use them via the Index data sheets
it was fully leaked at 12:01 on Saturday morning by Winters SEO on youtube
went in detail through every page of rules
what i dont understand is, if the FAQ is saying you can use the missing units (apoc on a bike for example) out of the index, and even use it in a new chapter based list and it WILL get the chapter tactics and such... why the fuck not just leave it in the codex
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:23
i think he means, do we have something that's readable?
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:23
not that ive seen
i would think today or tomorrow the shops will have it in stock ready for Sat and some photos will show up
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:23
Almost - it's not a leak; Winters is one of the few people that GW send preview copies to so he can vlog a preview
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 09:23
yeah, shouldn't be long
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:24
You'll notice, frustratingly, he goes nowhere near the points pages so the unreleased stuff is still mostly off the table until we get the book
I added the new units to my DA CAT; the stats and everything, inc PR, are all workable but the points for some weapon options & a few units are kinda guesstimated
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:25
its points that GW wont allow being shown
well, data sheets + points together seems to be what gets people in the shit
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:27
i thought they were releasing the points values for free, so people can use the datasheets from the boxes?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 09:27
some of the new units got points values on the sheet GW posted, didn't they?
Reivers, redemptor, Agressors?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:28
at least the ones that non-codex chapters can take
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:30
I mean when they send a book out early to youtubers and the like, the NDA states they can basically show anything they want other than points
GW themselves can obviously show us anything they like on their own site
Winters put a video up yesterday about points cost changes and loss of units and wargear options
but said what he can't do is show the contents of the book at the same time as talking about the points
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:34
Aye, as GW release the models they put the basic points online - it's things like the Repressor, Intercessor wargear, etc that we kinda don't know 100% yet
Chap & Apothecary
But at ~£23 each I think the Apothecary can do one :'(
The Repulsor looks damn awesome though, like a slower skimming Land Raider
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 09:36
it does look pretty, I'll give them that
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:36
Along with 5 weapon systems :fire:
All of which we've already seen now so it's not too hard to see how it'll perform
But excellently it's a DT so unlike a Land Raider it doesn't take an HS slot :D
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:44
Loadout:
Heavy Onslaught Gatling/Las-talon
2 Fragstorm Launchers/Storm Bolters
Auto Launchers/Fragstorm Launchers
Twin Heavy Bolter/Twin Lascannon
Ironhail Heavy Stubber/Onslaught Gatling
Optional 2nd Ironhail Heavy Stubber
And
Icarus Ironhail Heavy Stubber/Icarus Rocket Pod/Storm Bolter/Fragstorm Launcher
7 hardpoints
At 16PR I guesstimated it to be about 230pts basse
*base
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:45
seems too cheap
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:46
Closest PR I could see is a LR Crusader at 244pts and 17PR
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:46
the codex i reducing the cost of several of the existing primaris units too
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:46
With default weapons the Repulsor is 307pts if it's 240pts base
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 09:46
yeah, that's a little too cheap. I can't see it being less that the cheapest LR.
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:47
It's not as tough, nor as fast
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 09:47
well, I guess we'll find out soon :)
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:47
Just has more weapons, all of which cost their own prices
Aye :D
Actually it's the same speed - 10"
Just a Sv3+ instead of 2+ but otherwise same stats I think
A Crusader is just under 290pts, so my estimate puts the Repulsor between that and the Redeemer
With less of a save - seemed fair
Need to catch Winters' points vid tho
Will do so now, work is quiet
Mental, he's saying that Dreads have lost their TL autocannon option?!
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:52
Mind you, it is FW so I expect them to pick up that slack
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:52
wait, you cant take any?
or did they just remove rifleman?
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:53
Neither
No TL heavy flamer arms either
Also most HQ choices on bikes are gone
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:54
well they FAQ'd that so you can use the index entries
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:54
Ayup :)
Rifleman Dreads are still legit thanks to FW's Mortis datasheet
My autocannon Dread is unimpressed though
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:54
why cant sally dreads take 3xHF any more? ;_;
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:55
I think they've just binned the FW options for Dreads from the book
So I fully expect FW to pick that slack up if they want to keep selling those arms
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:55
but then we have to wait for IA to catch up and say theyre legal again
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:56
Indeed :(
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:56
which could be years away at FW pace
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:56
There's a bunch of minor points reductions for a lot of units and wargear, not much on their own but should add up
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:56
You can use Index entries for missing units
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 09:56
but the unit isnt missing, it just has less options
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:57
but the changed units in the codex will replace the index ones
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:57
You can aye, but not for units that are in the Codex as it replaces the Index sheets
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:57
so the dread options are gone and gone
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:57
Innit
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:57
but there are some FW rules you can use to get them back
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:57
Jesus, Inceptors went down 15pts
I can only assume that's for the basic squad, not each lol
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:57
some stuff changed base cost but the wargear changed too so the end result is the same
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:57
Ahhhhhh
I did wonder about that
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:57
but some went down in cost and didnt get changed wargear
so are just cheaper to use now
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 09:58

James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 09:58

James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 10:11
Personally... I think Raven Guard are going to be the strongest in the new book.
i think it's them im thinking of
-1 to be hit from 12+ inches away
makes them almost immune to lots of "on a roll of a 6+ to hit" effects such as Tesla
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 10:12
That is pretty nifty
Those effects need a FAQing like they got in 7th
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 10:12
yeah, and plasmakin overheat on 2s
James

Jul 25 2017 10:13

I hope that every codex gives infantry objective secured tho
if they dont then SM's will be OP
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 10:14
Seems very off that tesla always activates on Overwatch - that's supposed to be a lucky hit, not a lucky hit on a lucky hit
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 10:14
if they do give it to everyone, it makes taking infantry much more of a requirement
which i think would be better for the game
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 10:14
Aye, very much
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Jul 25 2017 10:31
Speaking of such things, anyone else feel GW has stacked the deck a bit in favour of the Imperium with regards to Fate of Konor by only giving the SM a codex to work with for the largest part of the campaign?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 10:32
I am shocked, shocked, that you would think that!
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Jul 25 2017 10:33
I know, I know, how dare I question the pure hearts and crystalline motives of GW. But still...
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 10:34
I hope they dont mess about with the other codex releases and get them out as quick as pos
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Jul 25 2017 10:34
Would have been nicer to have the campaign before any codices would appear, but I understand it's just a sales-generating ploy anyway, so.
As quick as possible will still give the SM players a couple of weeks of a headstart atm. Including double-score bonuses for all those newly bought and painted Primaris Marines.
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 11:23
A bit but not by a lot IMO
Marines get more options now and their new ObSec will undoubtedly be useful but it's situational and does nothing if there's no objectives to hold in the mission
Any good stuff for Chaos in the Indexes is still good stuff and I reckon that Death Guard and Mortarion will be up for pre-orders next weekend
Followed by GK after that, logically
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 11:25
i seem to recall the order is SM, GK, CSM, DG
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Jul 25 2017 11:26
But it isn't balanced on the other side, so every time it does make a difference the difference will go the same way every time.
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 11:26
I think DG will be next as Nurgle is heading up the incursion vs Ultramar
Then GK to support the Ultras then CSM to support the DG as they gain a foothold
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 11:27
how long is the campaign supposed to go on?
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 11:27
Fluffwise that makes the most sense but we'll see
Six weeks I think?
Aye
• Week 1: Start Collecting!
• Week 2: Elites
• Week 3: Vehicles
• Week 4: Psykers
• Week 5: Fast Attack and Flyers
• Week 6: Terrain and Lords of War
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 11:27
Pretty sure CSM was next
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Jul 25 2017 11:27
I'm thinking DG and such will at least take a couple of weeks to appear. So a third or half of the campaign will have been run. Also, the number of DG players of course isn't equal to the amount of SM players, not by a long shot, so the impact will be far less.
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 11:27
before DG
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 11:28
so DG last would put morty arriving ~week 6
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 11:28
it'll be interesting to see if they line that up
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 11:28
"Codex: Space Marines will be swiftly followed by the Grey Knights and Chaos Space Marines with Death Guard not far behind. (Yeah, you read that right – the sons of Mortarion are getting their own codex.)"
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Jul 25 2017 11:29
Which will deny DG players the chance to get double-points bonuses for newly painted figures the first half of the campaign since the new ones won't appear before we're halfway through the campaign.
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 11:29
Awwwww booo GW
What a shit way to do it
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 11:29
taking that literally it sounds like GK and CSM would come out the same week
I think they need to do at least 1 either double release or release a couple back to back on consecutive weeks if they're going to get 10 out this year
most of december will be closed off for releases due to the hols
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 11:30
I don't think GW have done a double-codex release since they changed pace to monthly a few years back?
December is traditionally neutral stuff like terrain
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 11:31
they said 10 this year
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 11:31

James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 11:31
there are 5 months left
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 11:31
There are!
James
@skonk
Jul 25 2017 11:31
december is mostly off the cards due to the hols
so they need to do 2 to 3 per month to get them all out
M4uler
@M4uler
Jul 25 2017 11:31
Is usually non-codex stuff in Dec
I reckon they'll shift to a Faction per fortnight schedule

Jul 25 2017 11:32
Helps the campaign that way, I'm still narked that GK are next though
Even though three of my armies are Imperial and I know that 40k is the tale of humanity in spaaaaaaaace in the 41st millennium they still need to sort Chaos out
They were the main bad in Gathering Storm and didn't get a Triumverate box, they're the main bad now and aren't 2nd out of the gate
Pretty poor form
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm

raise an issue :)
it's just a case of switching him over to the select list rather than having them as part of his profile.
I'll leave it till I go in to create the spells, it doesn't seem worth it before then.

@amis92, it doesn't look like the auto-assign of reviewers based on codeowners is working.

Yeah, something doesn't work. As @GenWilhelm tried right now, it's not the file location. But it possibly doesn't read the file at all, because if it did, it should at least match the global patter (assign the team).

Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 13:13

@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 13:15
has "Enabled required reviews" been switched on? It says on the github wiki that you need to have it on?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jul 25 2017 13:16
isnt that supposed to block the merge if the code owner doesnt approve the pull?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jul 25 2017 13:17
possibly, but the page about codeowners says that you have to have it on for it to use the file.
at least I think it does.....

The venue where we have it ( gameexpo) has partnered with an anime convention. So while they did grow the venue where they hold it did not. So they won't be able to have the space needed for a big 40k tournament."

Saw 3rd party dreadpods today.
Very welcome given the horror shoe that are first party and recast dreadpods.

well those bits are FW from Z
i have a friend who's doing really beautiful casts of the FW dreadpod

CC aren't much better.
I take it he fixed the FW model before casting? It is mechanically warped.

opinions on RG aggressors: go flames for max hits because of first turn range? or bolts?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 25 2017 19:53
i think so - it's really good and he's asking reasonable (re: less then z)

Sorry, no opinion; I'm allergic to twue scale.

majority of my force will still be my HH raven guard, just trying to see if there is any merit to aggressors, and so far the answer is basically "no"
because I can get a same/better effect with sternguard at close range with combi-flamers

i'm pretty much planning on using aggressors as objective camp-ing anchors
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 25 2017 22:37
I would if they were troops, but since they're HS I don't really find it workable compared to regular tacs or intercessors
tekton
@tekton
Jul 25 2017 22:41
That's why I'm going with an anchor not the actual unit that is securing the objective- more the unit to either charge in or just stand there and shoot twice if someone wants it
but that's just a theory at this point...

agressors with bolt or flame loadout from the PDF: 129 for 3
that's significantly cheaper than most similar options
I'd go bolt though
flame just requires too much positioning from a slow unit
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 25 2017 22:47
sharing is caring?
rievers with bolt carbines and grapnels are flat 100 for 5
that's going to be one hell of a backfield harrassment unit

Oh I thought you meant PDF of c:SM
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 25 2017 22:48
I'd love it if I did mean that :P
however, sternguard with the rumored price drop and 6 combi-flamers are only 155
so for what I have in mind I'd rather pay the ~20 extra points
which is use RG tactics to apply flamers turn 1

If I had Sternguard maybe, but my gk, marine, and tau armies got stolen a few years ago- that stung a lot, so I'm just now rebuilding and enjoying the "new"-ness of getting the new ones.

which chapter?
ah, ultras

Doing Ultramarines this time, did Black Templar last time

hmmm
I'd say get a few regular marines, since sternguard and devs are still very good

@tekton
Jul 25 2017 22:53
The aggressors are the first unit that's going to get punted if they don't fit points wise to be honest- I like Dreadnoughts too much and those redemptors aren't cheap

actually
best suggestion I can make:
prospero and 2 devastator boxes
with the way the iron armor kits work, and a little fiddling you can use the "41/42" arm pair on the devastator weapons like the MM
and they look pretty great
tekton
@tekton
Jul 25 2017 22:55
I shall keep that in mind, thank you
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 25 2017 22:55
only downside to the Mk III kits is that they don't include a combi por a missile launcher, while the dev boxes have more weapons than you can actually use
but I think they're probably the best kit GW has ever done for basic marines (new intercessor box may prove to be better, who knows)
mk IV was good as well, but suffered in the body/arm/leg proportion area

I want moar! Its kind of one of the things that as a kid long, long ago got me excited for 40k: Marines with Chain Swords
