Can someone assign me #1011
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 29 2017 00:59
A friend of mine playtested a game with me, he was using a full proxy army with nothing by Primaris marines with the exception of Pedro Cantor using Crimson Fists rules. The Repulsor puts out a disgusting amount of firewpower and shooty Aggressors are no joke. Plasma Inceptors were also good, as was Hellblasters with heavy incinerators (sense an all-plasma theme?). Intercessors weren't that great, but they weren't pushovers, either.

Jul 29 2017 01:00
All the new units seem good tbh
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 01:00
yeah. im looking to do a plasma theme now.
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 01:00
but im not convinced an all primaris army would be better than a list with some well chosen older units mixed in
nice thing is that it defo seems like people can basically do what they like :)
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 01:01
i still prefer 5 man tac with plasma/combi-plasma/plasma pistol in a razorback with TAC

I'm amused that agressors are listed as HS in the web primaris document and elites in the codex SM
Elite slot overload

Need to get the pop goes the monkey pad upgrades for BA bits for the gravis cap.

Jul 29 2017 01:28
I just noticed how actually dark the primaris libby armor is...interesting...
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 01:32
it's really cool
very DA-ish
i'm using him for the astartes disciplines in BA - cause he doesn't use sanguniary.

Jul 29 2017 01:37
:/ everyone is oos on ik bits
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 01:37

@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 01:42
actually the primaris libby does use BA disciplines
the text for BA says all ba psykers generate from sanguinary
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 01:42
then they changed it
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 01:42
let me find it
and screencap
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 01:42
the first 2 drafts said only for DA and SW, not BA
its a blanket ovverride for all psykers with the BA keyword
same problem with GK and why I am not using my GK librarians hardly at all anymore
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 01:47
ok in the new primaris pdf it says that too
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 01:47
it sucks, and probably needs changed because it makes librarians not as great
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 01:47
in the first 2 versions it ONLY called out SW and DA as using specific disiplines
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 01:47
at least in GKs it makes them all but useless
BA hove lots of +1 A, between abilities and psy, but only 1 model gives reroll charges, and it's specifically on DCo
so i was hoping to use librarius for that one reroll charge psy.

@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 02:00
I'm not sure how to feel on blanket primaris access for deathwatch
I actually enjoy painting DW
and have most of my bases covered for normal marines
its making it very hard to resist making a primaris wing for them
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 02:02
They don't have access to all primaris
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 02:03
check that new sheet
the one alphalas linked gives them nearly everything but the gravis cap
and LTs, but minor loss

I'm still a little worried that my pre-order still stays pending ><
@WindstormSCR what's wrong with GK librarians?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 03:51
not really worth the points compared to other GK HQ options, especially voldus
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 04:39
hmmm
this is a fun idea for konor
terminator cap, scouts, and tartaros, 26PL (local GW is running it in PL)
use chapter stratagem to get cap and tartaros into combat turn 1, armed with 3x LC 2x Chainfist, reaper and plasma blaster, cap has relic blade and stormshield
scouts with cloaks and snipers
dunno wether to give the cap burning blade or shield eternal
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 04:52
Why do I get the feeling we'll be seeing lots of #1013?
Because GW has said non-codex can still use Index
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 05:22
at least for primaris stuff the statement was to use the costs in the web PDF for BA/DA/DW
the rest of it who the fuck knows
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 05:23
Which is why I answered it the way I did
It's C:IA again, but not quite as bad due to the fact that we can multi-detachment now
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 05:24
for you guys, I haven't decided how to handle it for mine
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 05:25
God if this actually had worked reliably back when c:ia I would have not been a rage monster. Believe it or not there for a week or 2 I was pretty much ragey
Oh fuck good point
Sorry, but points and laughs like nelson now you know my pain

WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 05:26
I've got a couple options, and my SM file is already getting close to load time issues, so I'll probably split it
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 05:27

WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 05:27

Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 05:28
But does mobile support child forces? Cause if you split, what if shmoe wants to use the new ASM (I forget what actually changed costs, I think ASM did iirc) in a BA army?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 29 2017 08:04
mobile does support child forces and soup detachments
same mechanism as mainfiles

Hey quite new to w40k and been trying to put togeather my first
Brigade. I been trying to find the
Marauder Destroyer I battlescribe with no luck. Does anyone know in which rooster
/catalogue it exist?
I'm on the latest version 8th edition v1.0.8 and I have located the vulture which I'm also planning on using

Back from an 800 km drive and vacation! What did I miss? Seems like a few bugs surfaced..
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 11:38
The maurader is not in the file yet - I'm in the process of adding it in
It actually was, but I didn't save, left the file open, and then had a power outage so I'm about 3 steps back in the AM cat.
Klas Hammarström
@klibb_twitter
Jul 29 2017 13:06
@alphalas thank you so much for that clarification!
Will it be in the forge world elysian catalogue once it's in?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 13:08
no, it'll be in AM.
elysians can't take marauders.
the vulture and vendetta will also be in AM once i get it done, as well as Elysians
Klas Hammarström
@klibb_twitter
Jul 29 2017 13:15
That's just great! then I don't loose the command points either due to being forced to take them in the auxiliary support detachment
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 13:16
well technically the way BS works you don't even need to, just take a child detachment of elysians in the same detachment.
no need for a seperate detachment.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 13:43
Did I miss anything in my explanation of #1014?
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 13:46
I feel like GW did “1 steo forward, 2 backwards” by not including all the datasheets in C:SM and referancing those for now. Also not including models/wargear options that they currently do not produce.
the whole point of 8th was streamlining and simplification
they now have done the opposite
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 13:52
Isn't it still the case that data sheets in the codex replace those in the index?
the difference now (vs in 7th) is that GW have said you can use the missing wargear by getting its rules and points costs from the index and you can use totally missing from the codex datasheets, from the index
It also says to use the most recent points costs published
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 13:57
@skonk the issue is for non-codex units, GW still says you may use the index or you may use the codex it doesn't say use the codex for everything except index units
So for blood angels dark angels and space wolves, you can still build an army completely from the index if you want to.
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 13:58
ah right, different issue to what i thought it was then
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 13:59
Honestly, for codex armies, I would agree with you; you can't use anything from the index, use the codex. But for non-codex armies, it's a pain in the ass.
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 13:59
tbh
GW probably didn't intend to do it this way
but since they made the choice to change some unit and wargear costs its forced their hand
cos the only other way would be to tell non-codex players that they had to use the codex points costs which then basically tells people they have to buy a codex thats not actually for their army
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 14:01
Exactly
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 14:02
they also could have just put out a pdf with the update in like they have for the new primaris units
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 14:02
Which is why I'm saying the non-Codex cats should stay with the unchanged points costs, until their respective codecies come out.
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 14:02
but i guess they dont want to freely publish rules AND points costs for stuff where they can avoid it
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 14:03
They could, but that would then invalidate the Index for more armies
It's a delicate balance, business vs customer friendliness. I think to GW's credit, they're handling it decently well - I mean, Index:imperial 1 will probably be completely converted into codecies by Christmas so it's not like we'll go 6 months with blood Angels getting the shaft (as usual)
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 14:08
aye
lets hope the indexes do end up being truly temporary and some poor shmucks dont end up lumbered with it without a codex for the next 2 years :)
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 14:09
I'd think so - I mean that might be what CA is for - smaller armies (DW, assassins, AAT, etc) getting a "Codex"
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 14:10
i cant see em getting the 10 out this year that they said they would tbh
some sites are reporting that CSM is due on the 22nd of August, although that seems wrong to me since it's a Tuesday and GW release on Saturdays... but if it's around that time then its ages off
and i cant see them releasing any in december
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 14:13
One every two weeks – it's still possible.
Or maybe two at a time; who knows.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 29 2017 14:32
Index:imperial 1 will probably be completely converted into codecies by Christmas so it's not like we'll go 6 months with blood Angels getting the shaft (as usual)
CrusherJoe @CrusherJoe eyes Sisters of Battle army
CrusherJoe @CrusherJoe considers time between codex updates and new model releases for Sisters vs. BA
CrusherJoe @CrusherJoe throws his head back and laughs, then starts to tear up
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 29 2017 14:34
Yep you're right @alphalas, them poor BA players really got it bad with getting updated things.... :) :) :)
Though I almost feel the same as a fellow Sisters player commented on B&C -- "I'll happily play the Index for the next couple of years instead of GW sticking us in another condensed codex with less units than before like has happened the last couple of codexes..."
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 14:37
Yeah Index:I2 is practically the best book sisters have had since witchhunters
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 29 2017 14:38
Pretty much every time someone complains about their stuff not getting updates I pull out a metal girl and set it on the table, look at it pointedly, look at them, raise an eyebrow, and wait. It's funny how much complaining that stops.
Funny....and kinda sad, really.
So according to iTunes, Codex Heretic Astartes pre-order Aug 5, download Aug 22
Dear emperor please let this codex not suck.
Not because I play chaos
But I'm oh-so-very sick of the whining and crying of Chaos Space Marine players over every codex they've had since 3.5 (and yes, I get it, your books have sucked, but geebuz stop with the whining and wailing)
In fact I'm pretty sure no matter how good the new damned book is, some Chaos wanker will find something to complain about like a little bitch
Ugh
"But....but....it's not a complete cheese-fest filled with the most over-powered and broken things in the history of the game...mah cheese, Ah've gots ta have mah cheese!"
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 29 2017 14:53
And every time one of them says, "But none of the new books have any flavor" all I hear is, "But none of the new books just let us ROFLstomp our opponents without trying". I know that's not quite true but lord sometimes it seems that way.
Aaaaaand again, any player of any army that wishes to complain about how bad their army has been since 3rd edition, please take a metal Sisters model with a number on it and wait your turn -- but while you're waiting, take a moment to contemplate the fact that your army has plastic models and then consider the implications of the metal girl you hold in your hand. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 14:55
22nd of August is a Tuesday
since when do GW do releases, digital or physical.. on Tuesdays?
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 29 2017 14:57
Shipments from them to LGS arrive on Thursdays (at least, all the ones local to me anyway)
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 14:57
WHich they cant sell until Saturday
i know some do btw
but if GW catch them they get sued
or just get their reselling thing removed
The digital stuff always unlocks at 12:01 of the Sat morning
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 29 2017 14:59
Maybe they are breaking with tradition to meet the release schedule they've set for themselves? IDK
Or iTunes got it wrong
Or the whole thing is a hoax
That's the only 3 possibilities
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:00
iTunes being wrong is where I'm at
:)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jul 29 2017 15:04
That's what's up @alphalas
I'm with you @skonk
The thing is we know it's coming, just not exactly when
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 15:09
@alphalas going to go null maiden rhino to get more gold?
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 15:10
they said 10 codexes by christmas. if they keep to that schedule, thats a codex every 2 weeks from now until then.
thats an on average spread out release. they could stack releases. which would seem wierd for them
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 15:12
I'm assuming the other Space Marines will get stacked a bit; but before that we'll get GK pre-order next week
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 15:13
yeah. i was guessing sm>gk>csm>dg. story from imperium pov first, then csm pov. then morty appears
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 15:16
makes sense as a decent progression, hoping it is so I can stop buying new models...
i'm still debating if I'm pre-ordering one or two repulsors...
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:18
GW have made 2 posts that included what looked like a release order
one had GK next the other had CSM next
infact, 1 had GK and CSM together, the other had CSM first
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 15:19
i would understand csm and gk flipping too. SM vs cam, then DG/Nurgle shows up, so GK show up to help. Then Morty shows up
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:19
the logical way to do it IMO is to release SM then CSM since between those 2 books they cover like 17 armies
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 15:19
i would be fine with gk+csm/dg - give both sides of that a little "boost" or clarification- I only play one side of that fight ;)
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 15:20
well isnt konor focusing around these releases?
stack imperium up first then give chaos the tail end boost
James
@skonk

Jul 29 2017 15:48
I feel I must be blind: is there a rule somewhere for 8th that says a psychic power can only go off once per round per player? Was it in an FAQ I missed?
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 15:48
matched play rules of one
look at the matched play section
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 29 2017 15:49
Yeah that's specifically for Matched
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 15:49
right. its only for matched play
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:49
a lot of people are mixing rules ive noticed
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 15:49
narative or open it is free reign
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:50
using some rules from one section while ignoring the others
terrain especially
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 15:50
But it's ONLY matched play for the "Rule of One" style...
Thanks, thats all I was finding, too.
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:50
I see a lot people going on about what you can and cant do in Ruins, with vehicles, monsters etc
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 15:50
yeah. we have also done matched played but with PL instead of points
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:50
but then they totally ignore the rules for other terrain
if you aint playing advanced terrain rules then you get +1 save for being in on or terrain, period
infantry or a fecking titan, you get the +1
and you can drive that tank to the top floor or a ruin all you want :)
folk should obviously be using the advanced rules though, but it miffs me off a bit that they go all in on the Ruin's advanced rules but then don't do the pipes, craters, woods etc
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 15:53
We've been slowly adding them in- a few people in our group are slow to pick up rules, so we're spoon feeding them a bit.
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:54
:)
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 15:54
I think Wednesday we add in pipe rules since ruins were at launch, and craters were a couple weeks ago.
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 15:55
I noticed they failed to put rules in the indexes for those reactors they released not that long ago
the newest bit of terrain they've made and they didn't make 8th rules for it :(

@tekton

Jul 29 2017 16:00
has someone posted a cool cheat sheet somewhere?
tekton
@tekton

i haven't seen a good one yet, though I keep thinking I should make one
CloverFox
@CloverFox
Jul 29 2017 16:04
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 16:09
are you all finding that the movement portion of melee combat has way way more complexity and finesse then most people realise?
ive won at least 3 or 4 games pretty much all off the back of what almost feels to me like a meta game of getting the most out of how you can get things pulled into or pushed out of combats by how you pile in and consolodate
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 16:10
magic 1" and the "consolidate" does keep messing some people up...
((time to go pick up some new dreadnoughts assuming they got delivered to the store correctly this time...))
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 16:11
heroic intervention too is amazing when you remember it
flakpanda
@flakpanda
Jul 29 2017 16:14
Consolidating tho can be tricky. You have to end closer if you do move. But it can be amazingly good since you can after every round of combat
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 16:19
yeh
for me starts with the charge, looking at how you will then pile in and consolidate to your own benefit and ending your charge moves in the right place to get those pile ins done
ive done stuff like charged, left the model bang on an inch away and as much to the side of the model as i could get with the distance i rolled
then piled in 3 inches so im now right behind the model and like 0.99 inches way
but it's pilled in a land raider so it now cant shoot next turn
pulled in^
the fact that characters can heroic intervention even when they or the thing you get them in combat with were nothing to do with any of the charges your opponent made seems a bit odd
James
@skonk
Jul 29 2017 16:24
but can be really useful
tekton
@tekton
Jul 29 2017 19:00
The redemptor dreadnought has not just a kastellan fist (which I was excited for) but the legs are too
