A friend of mine playtested a game with me, he was using a full proxy army with nothing by Primaris marines with the exception of Pedro Cantor using Crimson Fists rules. The Repulsor puts out a disgusting amount of firewpower and shooty Aggressors are no joke. Plasma Inceptors were also good, as was Hellblasters with heavy incinerators (sense an all-plasma theme?). Intercessors weren't that great, but they weren't pushovers, either.
I feel like GW did “1 steo forward, 2 backwards” by not including all the datasheets in C:SM and referancing those for now. Also not including models/wargear options that they currently do not produce.
the whole point of 8th was streamlining and simplification
Isn't it still the case that data sheets in the codex replace those in the index?
the difference now (vs in 7th) is that GW have said you can use the missing wargear by getting its rules and points costs from the index and you can use totally missing from the codex datasheets, from the index
It also says to use the most recent points costs published
They could, but that would then invalidate the Index for more armies
It's a delicate balance, business vs customer friendliness. I think to GW's credit, they're handling it decently well - I mean, Index:imperial 1 will probably be completely converted into codecies by Christmas so it's not like we'll go 6 months with blood Angels getting the shaft (as usual)
Yep you're right @alphalas, them poor BA players really got it bad with getting updated things.... :) :) :)
Though I almost feel the same as a fellow Sisters player commented on B&C -- "I'll happily play the Index for the next couple of years instead of GW sticking us in another condensed codex with less units than before like has happened the last couple of codexes..."
Pretty much every time someone complains about their stuff not getting updates I pull out a metal girl and set it on the table, look at it pointedly, look at them, raise an eyebrow, and wait. It's funny how much complaining that stops.
So according to iTunes, Codex Heretic Astartes pre-order Aug 5, download Aug 22
Dear emperor please let this codex not suck.
Not because I play chaos
But I'm oh-so-very sick of the whining and crying of Chaos Space Marine players over every codex they've had since 3.5 (and yes, I get it, your books have sucked, but geebuz stop with the whining and wailing)
In fact I'm pretty sure no matter how good the new damned book is, some Chaos wanker will find something to complain about like a little bitch
"But....but....it's not a complete cheese-fest filled with the most over-powered and broken things in the history of the game...mah cheese, Ah've gots ta have mah cheese!"
And every time one of them says, "But none of the new books have any flavor" all I hear is, "But none of the new books just let us ROFLstomp our opponents without trying". I know that's not quite true but lord sometimes it seems that way.
Aaaaaand again, any player of any army that wishes to complain about how bad their army has been since 3rd edition, please take a metal Sisters model with a number on it and wait your turn -- but while you're waiting, take a moment to contemplate the fact that your army has plastic models and then consider the implications of the metal girl you hold in your hand. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
are you all finding that the movement portion of melee combat has way way more complexity and finesse then most people realise?
ive won at least 3 or 4 games pretty much all off the back of what almost feels to me like a meta game of getting the most out of how you can get things pulled into or pushed out of combats by how you pile in and consolodate
