I've had this conversation in here before but GW need to give cover back for being shot at through intervening terrain and imo should remove the +1 bonus and add back in actual cover saves (4+ and 5+ depending on the terrain type) with Ignore Cover mechanics being a -1 to the cover save. Going second will still be meh in some cases but it would massively reduce the chances of being totally smashed on turn 1 an make terrain useful again.

Hmmm... "being tabled" happens at the end of the round doesn't it? So, all terminator / vanguard / drop pod deploy at the end of your movement phase would still work, and wouldn't matter if you went first or second so much

In 7th it was at the end of a Game Turn, so if you went second you could have nothing on the table for the other guys turn and then bring stuff in during yours and you were fine

Does reloading a roster fix the nested points issue?

@CrusherJoe the bugrep I just assigned to both of us - I'm not sure if I'll get to it in the next few days or not - so if you want to knock it out of the park go for it

just further to my earlier comment, you have to setup at least half your units on the battlefield, and with the change to "deep strike" that you have to be 9" away from enemy units it's not a good idea to keep too many units off the battlefield because a cunning opponent could very well deny you a drop zone. While this tactic would lessen the first strike blow - to a certain extent - it is very situational :frowning: so alpha strike is still extremely powerful

Played against a leafblower Catachan/Cadian mess at NoVA during the narrative. Every. Single. Unit. re-rolled ones to hit. Half or more of my army was dead before I was able to act.
I think it is hard to call the problem "alpha strike" when the offensive output is neither once a game nor because of risky (close in, in the open to not move) deployments.
