well, once I get it formatted, playtested and wrapped up into a PDF you can make all the representations you like if you like it
I'm considering sending it to FW proper
once I know it works on the table
prince options become WL traits since that's where they fit well (you only get one prince)
still stuck on reaper of the outer dark
its supposed to be CC focused but rage is hard to replicate this edition
or at least I haven't found a clean way

@WindstormSCR

I had to give webway maze WC 9
it'd be stupid otherwise, and the void dreamer only gets 1 power

since I couldn't sleep, and apparently have corsairs on the brain, have a homebrew dex for them: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/249739800725159938/355266053904793611/CorsairHomebrewCodexV1.0.pdf
let me know how it playtests for anyone else who runs corsairs

Awesome work :+1: that internal politics rule is good but does need rewording, I'll finish my lunch and type it on a proper keyboard in a few minutes
Also, ranger long rifles are 0, how are the corsair ones better for 2 points?
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 12:30
How does this sound: Internal Politics: A Corsair Force must include at least one Prince, and each detachment must include a Prince or a Baron as an HQ choice. Each detachment must be from a different <coterie>. The only exception to this rule is that if your warlord is chosen from a Supreme Command Detachment, one other detachment may have the same <coterie> as the Supreme Command Detachment.

whats the difference between a power sword and a void sabre?
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 12:39
Originally (in IA 11) they were +1 Str AP 3 Type Melee, Rending
so, perhaps a +1 Str would be required, at 10 points they're too epensive since they are the same as a power sword at present
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 12:40
yeah, was gonna say you're paying an extra 6 points for no additional benefit
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 12:43
the difference with a Huskblade (also at 10 points) is that the Huskblade is D3 damage (even though it is only -2 AP)
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 12:43
so a slightly weaker force sword (typically 12pts)
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 12:45
The huskblade is an existing DE weapon
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 12:45
yeah, was just drawing a comparison :)

those wargear options on the prince look quite abusable. is there anything stopping you from taking every pistol?
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 12:55
yeah, it does seem that way, that wording needs to be changed, or you could have a Prince with 5 pistols, all of which he could shoot at the same time in the shooting phase, even if he was within 1" of enemy models, with no penalty to hit
also, I'm under the impression that ALL grenades should be 6" range
since they FAQ'd the original Eldar index melta bombs back from 8" to 6" I believe that is the intention
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 12:57
defensive are 12" range so you can use them in overwatch
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 13:08
why is a blast pistol more expensive than a fusion pistol?
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 13:15
I see... the tanglefield and haywire should be 6" though??
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 13:16
yeah, probably
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 13:16
a blast pistol should be less... Fusion is D6 roll two dice take the highest within half range, Blast is a straight D3
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 13:17
in the index fusion pistol is 9pts, blast pistol is 10

eh, probably more like 2 actually
Simon Porter

Sep 07 2017 13:25
uhuh, and are defensive grenades even still a thing??
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 13:27
tau have them, i know that much
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 13:57
hmmm... Photon grenades? see, both Photon and Shadowfield would be good to throw in the shooting phase if you intended to charge the unit in the Fight phase of your own turn. As well as being a partially sensible idea in Overwatch, since you get D6 changces to hit
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 13:59
i hadnt even considered that you could throw them then charge in the same turn
welp, its time for the strike team to get stuck in with the boyz
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 14:24
well, from the point of view that the Strike team can throw a single grenade along with a fusillade of Pulse Carbine shots, then the Kroot can bundle in and "chop them up"
(Soulstorm reference)
so, now they're just extra long range grenades...
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 14:26
oh yeah, i also hadnt considered that it benefits other units :D
teach me the ways of melee tau, oh wise one
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 14:27
hehehe!!
looking at the datasheets, the only unit that should be in melee are Kroot
everything else is WS 5+ <-- I didn't realise they were quite that rubbish in combat..
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 14:32
oh sorry, Vespids are 4+... hardly melee monsters
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 14:32
at least initiative is gone so they dont have to embarrass themselves there too
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 14:35
there is that.. but even Kroot only have 1 attack each at Str 4 AP 0 D 1

Anyone notice that the 8th ed 40k repo has dropped from the battlescribe data site?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 07 2017 17:36
@FarseerVeraenthis the corsair long rifle has -1 rend. I do need to limit the prince to 2 or 3 selections, and the costs are all duplicates of whatever was in the official indexes except stuff that did not exist
So just the balelight, tanglefield, haywire, long rifle and shadowwave grenades
and grenade ranges are consistent with the index. Shadowwave are pretty much a photon clone, and sunburst grenades were left at 8"
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 07 2017 18:19
@Toreador13 yeah that happens on various different repos. we have no idea why it happens, it just seems to be at random
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 07 2017 19:10
@FarseerVeraenthis also after doing a review, of your rewrite, I took part of it but left the wording on supreme command the same, since you often want the prince in the regular detachment to give out his detachment level benefits. supreme command is just a way to get extra barons/void dreamers of the same coterie choice and/or a LoW
same way people used the old command section of the corsair list
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 07 2017 20:49
@WindstormSCR that's cool, Sunburst grenades are 6" range in my index... Otherwise it all sounds good I wasn't sure if warlord traits were detachment or force based, and I thought if you took a Supreme Command Detachment it should include your warlord and then his buff would roll over to the second detachemnt that had the same <coterie> keyword
and you're right, I didn't pick up the -1 AP for the long rifle
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 07 2017 22:11
I thought about it, but it didn't feel as fitting for the flavor of the tight knit control required to keep corsairs working together
