Hello.
I added keywords to the SOB cat
By looking at how it was done in the Necrontyr Cat
BSData/wh40k#1664
Not sure how you guys do stuff around here, but the work is done, feel free to double check/idk
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Oct 24 2017 13:57 UTC
dont worry, we were all new to this at one point :smile:
Guillaume G.
@Nokhal
Oct 24 2017 13:58 UTC
If approved, i'll probably do Inq/AM/Fw Elyseans as those I also build armies with and are in an not-complete state
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Oct 24 2017 13:58 UTC
pretty sure @alphalas is the keeper of those too, so you should talk with him before putting in any time/effort
Guillaume G.
@Nokhal
Oct 24 2017 13:59 UTC
Idk. I was using it, saw a problem got it fixed, forked/pulled.
If it's more complicated it's kay I can simply live on my fork.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Oct 24 2017 14:00 UTC
that's entirely reasonable, but most of the keepers are quite protective of their catalogues because of the amout of time and effort it takes to get them to a good quality
Guillaume G.
@Nokhal
Oct 24 2017 14:01 UTC
Then please provide guidelines.
I'm not very good with social stuff.
English not main language.
I opened issue afterward but it got closed.
Github provide diff
Cats are glorified XML, so eye is good to check.
Idk what more I can provide.
I have to go work, I will leave this tab open. Feel free to ping me if any news.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Oct 24 2017 14:03 UTC
oh I agree with you, but ultimately it's down to the keeper how they want to manage their catalogue
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 14:08 UTC
@Nokhal that's great work, and I'm sure @alphalas will appreciate it. The problem is, if he is partway through an update it can be difficult to merge the two files together, hence in general if a CAT needs to be modified the first thing to do is raise an issue and assign it to the keeper (check the CODEOWNERS file in the wiki) suggesting that you would like to help provide a fix. Then the keeper can open a conversation with you about who is going to do what and when.
As a prime example, you cannot be sure if the work has already been done, but just not released - if that is the case (unlikely in this particular situation), you may have wasted your time...
Also, guidelines are found in the wiki: https://github.com/BSData/wh40k/wiki
Guillaume G.
@Nokhal
Oct 24 2017 14:12 UTC
Guideline were very basic github tutos for non-devs with more indepht for regular members
nothing about random stranger popping in with works
Thank you for the answer.

We're also not really adding keywords separately at the moment, because support for all the keywords will be coming in a future version of BS.
a couple of owners have done it, but most are waiting for the proper support.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 14:43 UTC
Iain pretty much summed up why I’m hesitant to merge your request- I’m waiting for the real think, not bandaiding
Thing*
Because once the proper fix comes, I’ll then have to remove all the bandaiding
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 14:52 UTC
do we have any idea when the real fix is inbound??
I notice there was an update to BS last night when I opened the roster editor, but it didn't specifically mention keyword display
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Oct 24 2017 14:53 UTC
that was the cost update bug i think.
I suspect it won't be until 2.02
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Oct 24 2017 14:54 UTC
thats the only documented fix, yeah
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Oct 24 2017 17:07 UTC
Well, that's exactly what I hoped for. No more, no less.
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 17:36 UTC
Uhuh :+1:
The question is, should I buy some more...?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Oct 24 2017 17:44 UTC
more smite, more smite
interesting they're releasing the rules for it now, rather than waiting a few days for the codex to drop
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Oct 24 2017 17:55 UTC
Yeah well, they don't have much else regarding Eldar to fill the week with, except the separate release of Eldrath.
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Oct 24 2017 18:24 UTC
They can't even be bothered to have an Eldar army on Twitch this week, the day before the codex becomes available.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 18:59 UTC
I'll be buying at least 1 more
Because it's a nice elite slot filler, and I do like my tanks
However there is an oversight in the data sheet
Does it generate from runes of battle or runes of fate?????
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 24 2017 19:01 UTC
Neither. Mwahahaha
Smite or heal. Choose one.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:02 UTC
I think RAW you are correct, RAI is probably RoB like the spiritseer
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 24 2017 19:02 UTC
Unless it’s listed in the army traits
Who chooses from what
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:02 UTC
Could be with the new codex
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Oct 24 2017 19:03 UTC
Aye. Be a good spot for it. I think gk did that
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:03 UTC
Still, getting a techpriest equivalent is really making me eye more fire prisms and WS
And do an IG style full mech
Also, good candidate for the falchou's wing relic
Which gives FLY and move 12"
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 19:26 UTC
My goal even before 8th launched was to have an Eldar tank army; might add two more of those to my pre-order...
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:27 UTC
@FarseerVeraenthis @tekton revolving door fire dragons
someone pointed out that fire and fade allows you to embark
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 19:27 UTC
omg, that's brilliant
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:28 UTC
since its the unit moving that qualifies embarkation (finish with whole unit inside 3")
fish of fury FDs, I expect a fix in the first FAQ
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 19:31 UTC
How many skewers would you like for your fondue...?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:33 UTC
lol
I wdon't plan to use it and I'm pretty sure its unintended
but people will
thankfully you can only do it with one unit
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Oct 24 2017 19:42 UTC
Pretty sure that Bonesinger only has Smite or Heal. It would say if it could pick otherwise.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:45 UTC
dem points drops:
3 vypers with starcannons, enough points to kit wave serpents with weapons of choice (they're triple scannons in that pic) and repairs all around
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 19:49 UTC
nice
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 19:49 UTC
Want to paint army green, but Biel-tan only gets kind of a mech buff...meh, GK is my competitive army, time for full fluffy fluff
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:51 UTC
biel-tan is actually pretty good for mechanized dire avengers
and shuricannon windriders
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 19:52 UTC
True; should have been more clear I wanted to go more tanks. But it's going to make my horrible rolling a little bit better
Means I need to buy more Fire Prisms...
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:53 UTC
I'm going to see how what I have shakes out, then I'll be seeing what I'll focus on
as much as I want wraith units I think I might go for WS and stuff to shove in them, so dragons, banshees, etc
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 19:55 UTC
nice
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 19:55 UTC
I'm using Iyanden traits
since I like my grav-tanks
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 19:56 UTC
yeah... what colour should I paint my wraithknight...
black or yellow
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 20:00 UTC
sword&board?
the only real way to make that viable is iyanden traits to connect with your targets
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 20:01 UTC
well, it is currently wrapped in cardboard... so all the weapon options atm...
and yes, I could design a whole Iyanden army, but I have a lot of dudes already painted black
although, I ave some painted yellow too...
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 20:05 UTC
the heavy wraithcannons are a good pick then
they're str 16 in the new codex
so good for smashing landraiders
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 20:07 UTC
yeah, I heard that, they sound pretty nasty
I think my main problem is that I'm really indecisive about what I want to do with my army
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 20:11 UTC
puts them in contention with the ghostglaive for killing things, but the lack of scattershield sucks
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 20:11 UTC
I probably should decide if I want to get up close and personal, or sit back and shoot
normally my armies tend to try and do a little of both, which always sounds like a good idea but never seems to work out in practice...!
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 21:11 UTC
Personally, I'd only take wraithknights for fighting other LoW, where the ghostglaive shines best
if you want one just for punking landraiders and other heavy transports go wraithcannons
the suncannon is just to expensive to bother
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 21:24 UTC
I don't have my book near me, was there another "tech priest" like unit for Eldar in the Index?
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 21:25 UTC
nope
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 21:27 UTC
time to order two more bonesingers then...
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 21:27 UTC
hehehe
just a quick point, what units have the Wraith Construct keyword atm...?
because I can't find any in either Index (GW of FW)
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 21:29 UTC
i didn't look at the leak of the new codex, maybe they're adding it?
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 21:30 UTC
well, either that or the bonesinger can only heal vehicles
or it means anything with "Wraith" in the keywords section, which includes wraithguard/blades
and is extra awesome
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 21:32 UTC
well, they pick out wraithlords and wraith knights
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 21:32 UTC
I would assume it’s that Simon ;)
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 21:32 UTC
so I'd expect at least those 2
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 21:32 UTC
i'll end up having three now to spread out
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 21:32 UTC
just did a quick run through my current collection:
I need a set of footlocks
at least
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 21:33 UTC
The only Eldar unit I actually own right now is an Armorcast Revenant titan...
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 21:33 UTC
that is an impressive collection
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 21:33 UTC
the wasps I think will still be pretty good as support units, especially since they retained in-unit cloudstriking
I'm going to see how things play out for a bit, but my current thoughts are to add at least one of the new start collecting boxes, possibly a falcon and some fire dragons
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 21:35 UTC
yeah, i need some wave serpents
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 21:35 UTC
everyone does
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 24 2017 21:35 UTC
although, really, I need to do some painting
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 21:35 UTC
since bikes are under no circumstances obsec, dire avengers are where the work will be done
right now I think what I'll end up doing is sticking my troops in WS and then save falcons for the aspect warriors
shove an MSU aspect squad and a buffbot per falcon
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 21:46 UTC
@FarseerVeraenthis the clue to what has wraith construct was in the iyanden reveal
everything wraithm does
guard, blades, lord, knight
Owlsbane
@Owlsbane
Oct 24 2017 22:04 UTC
Yep, just checked Striking Scorpion's review, could read it pretty clear amongst the keywords for the Wraithblades and Wraithguards.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 22:27 UTC
so
friend just reminded me why revolving door dragons doesn't work
[forgot this one. "Note that a unit cannot both embark and disembark in the same turn" first paragraph of trnsports]
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 22:30 UTC
but if it disembarked last turn and the transport moved up a bit they could just back in
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 22:30 UTC
yep
so it works like the armageddon guard order
useful but not broken
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 22:32 UTC
yalp
...I'm also playing Armageddon guard with my GK :P
the gf's collection
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Oct 24 2017 22:43 UTC
Welly welly well
Your gf has Eldar
LOL
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 22:46 UTC
Yup - all 3 flavors
Got it for her years ago; but since she doesn’t play I might dust them off
Lolololol
I’m getting like 6 more new jetbikes from my buddy
tekton
@tekton
Oct 24 2017 22:55 UTC
¡MOAR BYKES!
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 22:59 UTC
so, a very relevant question
what was the final deal with use of index stuff
is it just the options added to the new sheet? I was under the impression it was old sheet with adjusted wargear costs
with the change to autarchs it's definitely a relevant thing
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:06 UTC
For example: fielding a swooping hawk autarch with power sword and reaper launcher
use new base cost, and old weapon selection?
I can't remember the details from the SM arguments and since then
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:11 UTC
@alphalas and others may from guard problems and chaos bits
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 23:14 UTC
So here’s a question- reavers or cloud dancers?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:14 UTC
have you got spare war walker/wraithlord weapon sprues?
could do the conversion I did to cloud dancers
they've been A+ helpful to me so far, but with craftworlds release I'm shelving them for a bit
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 23:16 UTC
What did you do?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:16 UTC
let me find the pic
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 23:17 UTC
I’d just use reaver jetbikes as cloud dancers - Dark lances on bikes sounds fun lol
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:17 UTC
shaved off the spikes on reavers and mounted the WW bright lances underneath for darklance stand-ins
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 23:17 UTC
Sounds easy enough
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:17 UTC
unit of 3 brightlance dancers work wonders
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 23:18 UTC
I was thinking of running them same way I use to set up bikers - 1 Heavy 2 regular
But again, not sure lol
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 23:20 UTC
Not bad
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:20 UTC
have to do a little chopping, but they look good
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 23:20 UTC
Would probably want to go a little shorter imo
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:21 UTC
can you shed any light on my earlier question RE index implementation with codex?
trying to work out the 'correct' points for the listed autarch build
since reaper is 31 in index, and 22 in codex
and base unit points changed too
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Oct 24 2017 23:35 UTC
You retain options from index, at index points
So the base autarch keeps his old options; but if the points dropped in Codex they have to stay at index points
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Oct 24 2017 23:43 UTC
I can live with that
since the goal is to make him my vindicare equivalent
and use the reaper with mark of the incomparable hunter
