@alphalas, thought I'd look at #2145 and got a bit carried away. See #2147.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 11:53
anyone know why centurions are marked as imperial fists?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 11:54
because no one else wants them?
:D
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 11:56
heh, good one
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 11:57
Did someone check Imperial Fists instead of Imperium by mistake?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 11:58
oooh, that could be it
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 11:58

Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 12:00
nope, they have imperium as well
oh, its infantry they dont have

@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 12:12
i can now console this very confused BT player
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 12:13
"console"? He's genuinely upset because he though he couldn't take Centurions? No Codex then, I take it?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 12:18
sorry, poor choice of word. and i expect they do have a codex, but decided to ask other people instead of checking for themself
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 12:19
I'm just messing with you.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 12:26
right, no worries. i think i need some more sleep
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 12:27
take a look at #2149. That's one odd BS bug.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 12:45
huh, thats an odd one. i have an idea of what might be going on
the sergeant is in the group with the rest of the models, so it's filling out the min5 with the default selection, completely ignoring the min1 on the sergeant
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 13:15
I'm not inclined to worry about it overly.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 13:18
yeah, not really worth fixing. just an odd quirk

Jan 04 2018 13:28
I take back what I said about CA necron strategems being too much at 2cp
Holy crap that is strong.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jan 04 2018 13:28
Because both index and Codex have specific lists, not keyword lists
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jan 04 2018 13:28
On a 6 strong unit of wraiths, with 4 CP I effectively had 10. And it took 2 whole turns of dedicated fire from an entire army to take them down.
Use them to escort nightbringer down the field and god damn is that a ball of melee 12" range death.
My new favorite turtle list. 2x 15 warriors, 2x crypteks, 10 Tesla Immortals, Overlord on foot with relic, Nightbringer, 6 beamer wraiths, 5 Deathmarks, 1 spyder, and 2 doomsday arks. May swap the spyder for some more death marks, not sure.
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 13:32
@alphalas, are you talking about #2143?
ah, I see that you are.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 13:33
you've found a use for deathmarks?
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jan 04 2018 13:34
Oh yea. Don't use them for their intercept
unless you have to.
Drop them in and pop a character.
If you can do it with 5, well worth 100 points even if they're obliterated next turn. With 10 ... be careful where you drop them so they live enough to get reanimation.
bonus if you can use it to get a secure objective
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 13:36
ah, ive never seen them be able to kill a character in the turn they drop. its always been just not quite enough
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jan 04 2018 13:36
With 5 you'd need to choose carefully, LTs or apothacaries.
don't go against a captain or the like unless you're dropping 10 in
Couple games now, I've kept them until I draw a back-line objective
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 13:37
seems so obvious when you say it like that :P
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jan 04 2018 13:37
drop them in, take that, and try to pop a character
100pts for 5, well worth a victory point and attempted kill.

Hey guys, I'm an ork player and I'm interested in contributing to the datafiles to fix some issues I found.
What do you guys prefer as text editors for managing the munged xml that makes up *.cat files?
Is the preferred method of contributing a fork -> edit -> merge as normal, or do you do something different?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 14:36
there's an editor just for Battlescribe which you can install on a PC. Editing the XML directly is "interesting".
If you have PC Battlescribe, it's installed automatically.

The issue I submitted got assigned to someone else, but I'm going to work on it anyway
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm

yeah, @tag8833 is the maintainer for orks, so he gets assign as standard

I use Github Desktop for cloning the repo.
@genwilhelm, Haven't seen him around for a while though...

Thanks, guys! looks like his last contribution was like a week ago.
I'll just follow the developer guide and try to fix it myself.

he did CA a month ago. not sure if he keeps up to date much here or on the repo

Jan 04 2018 14:43
@aerospace-venoms, if you want to pick up the Snikrot issue (#2097) as well, I'm sure no one will mind. If you have any questions, give us a shout.

You'll have to fork and do a PR from there.
for now

I'm having some trouble checking my work after editing the data files. When I try and import data from file via battlescribe to test a roster, I can't seem to get my github-linked source files to work. Any tips?
Maybe I'm not importing the right file from within the github cloned directory
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 15:44
i just clone the repo direct to the bscribe data folder
aerospace-venoms
@aerospace-venoms
Jan 04 2018 15:44
Aah never mind, seems to work fine
Battlescribe's imported data repos screen doesn't indicate success
but I can still create a new roster and it works fine
Cool, looks like my updates worked! Now I just have to commit back.
That was a surprisingly painless process.

@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 15:47
to do those changes it was. Wait until you get into the joy of shared constraints and collectivity.
aerospace-venoms
@aerospace-venoms
Jan 04 2018 15:47
lol
Not bad for now. Oh, since Gorin' Horns was a mandatory melee choice, I constrained it with min 1 and max 1. Is that the right idea?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 15:48
that's exactly right.
aerospace-venoms
@aerospace-venoms
Jan 04 2018 15:50
Cool, thanks. I'll see what other easy wins I can find in issues.
I think this means #2151 and #2097 are now resolved
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Jan 04 2018 15:52
I don't see your pull request into the main repo?
aerospace-venoms
@aerospace-venoms
Jan 04 2018 16:08
Okay, I think I did the pull request right
However, beware that there seem to be some other changes in the files besides the ones in the issue reports
I think it's because I hit "calculate identifier" a couple times on various different things... But that shouldn't be an issue, right?
Troy Graber
@tag8833
Jan 04 2018 16:13
Hi, see your pull request. I'll check it out and merge it shortly

@tag8833, I've had a quick look and it seems fine.
someone needs to go through Orks and take out all the Keyword profiles now that BS supports Categories properly.
zopha
@zopha
Jan 04 2018 16:26
Is "Calculate identifer" the same as Generate ID for entries? I'd say that would cause issues with saved lists, depending on what entries got changed.
aerospace-venoms
@aerospace-venoms
Jan 04 2018 16:27
Oops, yep. I meant "Generate ID".
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jan 04 2018 16:29
looks like you didnt change anything that was already there, so no harm done
Troy Graber
@tag8833

@ilaunchbury I'll clean out the keyword profiles when I get a chance this afternoon or tomorrow.

dont think someone in the UK (like i am) would actually make a saving
and i own a H & S Infinity and a H & S Evolution
James
@skonk
Jan 04 2018 17:36
altho i dont know the badger range very well so thats just based on some googling, dont see any of their brushes costing more than £150 ish in the uk so by the time you pay shipping and potential import duties i cant see the saving being huge and if anything goes wrong with it warranty issues would be a nightmare. Unless someone knows of a product they make that sells for more than that?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jan 04 2018 17:45
the renegade khrome series sells for 150usd iirc
i think they said international shipping is $40 usd
James
@skonk
Jan 04 2018 17:46
yeh
the patriot 105 xtreme is about £150-160 here
the krome is about £140
both are supposed to be good for miniatures
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jan 04 2018 17:48
a lot of people i trust recomend the krome
James
@skonk
Jan 04 2018 17:48
so assuming it is $40 for the shipping, $54 for the brush then thats £69.38 with the current exchange rate
but there is a high chance of being hit with import duty which could add another 40% on the doorstep
so its closer to £100 potentially
and it sounds liker all you get is the brush in a plastic box
if i bought it here for £150, id get a hose, lube, some tools etc all with it
and if there is a warranty issue it could be sorted in the UK quickly
so i dont think its worth it outside of the states
they may also have to add VAT if selling to the UK so thats another 20% (dont know if thats the case or not, but could be)
i really dont need one of their brushes but i kinda want one... for like, collection purposes
i want to pick up an Iwata Eclipse at some point too
