so far two thumbs up, definitely better than readium since it has actual management tools for sorting collections and searching text of multiple books
the text selection isn't as schizophrenic either

Oh really now
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 04:07
unfortunately it shares readium's intractability for changing zoom levels and fitting to window space

I'm checking it out now
The interface isn't exactly what I'd call "intuitive"
But I just told it to add all my 40k epubs and it's grinding away
Huh
Well it looks pretty damn good
I guess I need to Index everything?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 04:14
yeah for the search function
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jan 20 2018 04:15
It's not showing the contents for each book
WindstormSCR

mouse over to the side

Jan 20 2018 04:15
Which Readium does, and that's a very important thing to me since I use it to reference things quickly
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 04:15
right side edge
at the top
there is a white bar that'll pop out into the contents list
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jan 20 2018 04:16
If you mouse over it?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 04:16
yep
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jan 20 2018 04:17
I see the "Contents" button but pressing it did nothing
Now it's busy indexing

Jan 20 2018 04:17
not on the toolbar
its a context-thing, on the actual right window edge
took me a minute or two to figure out

Jan 20 2018 04:18
Aaaaaah yes there it is
Okay I approve :)
LOL
It looks great
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 04:19
granted, readium might be better for just thumbing through dataslates
but if you want to actually read the lore sections it works for that
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jan 20 2018 04:19
Indeed
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 04:19
and the search is handy

I like it though
Good find man, thanks for sharing
Hmmm
No zoom?

I'm still trying to figure that one out

Jan 20 2018 04:26
Aha
suddenly the reason GW's stuff is so completely fucked is clear to me
they're using fixed layout Epub3 by just exporting a variation on the print master
instead of actually setting the thing up as a correctly-standard flowing epub
end result is that when a properly implemented reader that assumes all epubs to meet the flow standard correctly tries to render it in flow-layout, the text gets smashed together
summary: whoever is in GW's publishing job for the epubs is an incompetent
its not like indesign makes it hard to set it up right or convert
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jan 20 2018 04:32
Can it be re-converted?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 04:33
maybe
I'll take a look in indesign this weekend
but probably not
because you'd need information that is removed when it's exported

Ah, you scamps, there was me thinking you'd found something new... Azardi has been mentioned here before, in fact I've been using it for... Years... :wink:
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 07:21
hasn't been mentioned while I've been about
ohwell
its has its uses but readium will still probably be my day to day

Jan 20 2018 07:24
It's no drama, but it's nice to know that there is a reason for the text smashing together sometimes
Chapter Approved is virtually unreadable in places
I've always felt that GW are Apple snobs from the point of view that they produce beautiful iBooks and only grudgingly produce sloppy ePubs...
That's how it feels anyway, I'm sure you can insert links in ePubs in the same way as iBooks - but I don't know for certain
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jan 20 2018 07:33
tbh from what I can see its just whoever does the epub export is a lazy fuck and can't even be bothered to put the element flow flags in
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
