@/all C# devs: call to arms! Who here knows this stuff (C#/.NET)?
Or, do you know where can I find BattleScribe-oriented volunteers
James

i know some c#

I know it's supposed to be "Cee-sharp" but every time I read it my brain thinks "Cee-pound"
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Feb 02 2018 12:08
i've heard it called "Cee-hash" before, but never -pound :D
but thats probably because we dont call # a pound sign

Aaaah, a holdover from simpler times
From a more civilized age
I would like to take a moment to pass something on
My FW Vulture gunship model has had some...issues...with certain part staying attached
The little landing struts, the rear flaps and rudders specifically
Sometimes good ol' super glue just isn't up for the task

Duct tape?
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Feb 02 2018 12:14
Also, sometimes the old ways are the best. I broke out the Dremel last night and did some pinning but was wanting a better adhesive. The girlfriend happened to have something called E6000 which she uses in making jewelry. It's a clear thick liquid that doesn't smell and behaves similar to rubber cement if you have excess
i did the landing struts and rear flaps a couple of days ago as a test. Played a game last night with it, pinned the rudders on last night after the game
No hazing/fogging
Sets quickly but gives you enough working time

Feb 02 2018 12:17
Well, yeah, it should actually be written as C♯ (<- that's musical 'sharp' sign, half-tone up mark)
But noone has that on keyboard, so
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Feb 02 2018 12:18
C♯ is Microsoft's attempt at a Java, isn't it?
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Feb 02 2018 12:19
Quite successfully surpassing its predecessor, yeah.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Feb 02 2018 12:19
Why do Java devs need glasses?
Because they can't C#.
badum tsh
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Feb 02 2018 12:20
Well, there was an even more "java attempt" in effort called J# but they got sued and stopped.
Yeah, that's a classic one.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Feb 02 2018 12:20
What you mean "successfully surpassing its predecessor"?
I'm almost certain Java has a much larger user base than C♯
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Feb 02 2018 12:22
Oh, not in terms of user base. You know how the worse product wins, right? Same here. C# is uniformly called as better in terms of design, architecture, syntax and almost every aspect of language and framework you can imagine.
Except for portability/x-platform, which is only a recent development in .NET world.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Feb 02 2018 12:24
x-platform and portability was the real selling point of Java in the first place (though the portability promise was never quite delivered upon as much as everyone hoped)
And I'd say the difference is that Java was developed over time from a hodge-podge of needs and programmer wishes (basically OO folks that were tired of C+ treating them like a bitch)
C♯ was purpose-built from the ground up using the lessons learned from Java
Java's user base is mainly due to its age and ubiquity on the Interwebs

Gotta love my FLGS owner. He's letting me have my Banana Bikes this afternoon because i'm going to be out of town on Saturday
@alphalas all I can tell you is, the stuff works
I rate it Thumbs Up -- or 5 out of 5 Repaired FW Flyers
Also, E6000 -- benefits of having a crafty girlfriend
Now I need to make a hard choice

I’ve started using it for all my heavy-duty repairs on cyanoacrylate-unfriendly stuff
Used it to glue a rubber cup holder liner back into the cup holder on my van - did that 4 months ago and it’s still fine

Do I purchase a VGA Glorious Gold (airbrush) or meticulously brush on Vallejo Liquid Gold on the Banana Boys?
The Liquid Gold is an alcohol based paint -- it's harder to work with...but damn it look amazing

I've got a running effort of making a library managing BattleScribe data files https://github.com/WarHub/wham/tree/source

Yeah e6000 doesn’t offgas nearly as bad as cyanoacrylate but it still gasses pretty good

Oh I'm sorry, we really respect Java for being so <headache starts/> man, I just can't say a good word about it :P. Android Studio/IntelliJ idea however is one of the best IDEs ever. JetBrains really know their stuff.
