Er...hold on
20180304_205931.jpg
Now that's on straight rattle-can black primer
I should probably use a different brush to do the "streaking" bit
And I should probably have put a matte spray on top of the primer, too LOL
tekton
@tekton
Mar 05 2018 03:04 UTC
probably, eventually
still turned out pretty okay
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 03:04 UTC
Yeah for literally the very first time I've attempted it, not bad
There's a reason I'm practicing tho. :)
I think I need to make smaller dots (I wasn't sure how big to make them) and the brush I used was an oil point filbert brush with stiff and thick bristles...so...that made the streaks kind of...crude, maybe?
I'm gonna make a wash out of the Van Dyke Brown tomorrow and play with that

Re #2592 it was left up to individual Catalog authors to do validation or not and how
the only thing we did arrive at a standard for was tying them to the warlord for max selections and adding relevant extra relic stratagems
Custodes for example are fully validated but don't overwrite, Craftworld Eldar are fully validated but DO overwrite.
I believe the AM relics were recently given regiment validation but not base gear validation
so that's on @alphalas if he wants to leave as-is, validate/replace or validate/non-replace
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Mar 05 2018 06:12 UTC
if we decide to create a standard, my recommendation is to validate but not replace, as it allows list building planning without leaving out information in the event of a switch
And yes, i am trying to be reasonable and not reply with Kneejerk fuckoff because the guy who reported it appears to be learning a little
tiny knights are tiny

those Armiger Warglaives look about a little bigger than a dragoon?
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 10:19 UTC
maybe little taller, but bulkier
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 12:14 UTC
did I miss something or did admech get a flyer or superheavy since I was away?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Mar 05 2018 12:16 UTC
dont think they got anything
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 12:16 UTC
I'd be surprised if I'd have missed something THAT big...
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Mar 05 2018 12:17 UTC
yeah. i think theyre supposed to get rules for their FW models at some point
but idk when or where that will be

It's Blizzard Soon ™ levels of release date.

want
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 13:44 UTC
Yea ... I'll be getting 2 of those boxes.
then maybe selling 1 of the armigers.
or having 4.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 13:52 UTC
@Thairne Admech can take the glory that is the Fire Raptor. They need no specialized ship!
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 14:24 UTC
They can? Last time I checked that was for FW Adeptus Astartes and not accessible to AdMech?
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 14:27 UTC
Do not need knight armigers. Wantses them, tho. Baby knights!
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 14:27 UTC
Hm. I have two knights. Therefore I'd need 4 Armigers. That's another 2 useless Dominii and 2 squads of rangers with a shitload of necrons I dont want.
really a thing of cost and how much these necrons are gonna sell off for
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 14:29 UTC
I have a friend that is a die-hard Necron player. Problem is, he's also a die-hard Mechanicus player LOL
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 14:32 UTC
"the set will cost you less than getting everything inside separately, and that’s BEFORE you count the new Cryptek and Imperial Knight units."
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 14:36 UTC
Sure
"The first one's always free..."
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 14:37 UTC
I wont start Necrons. No. Not until I have my backlog to zero and everything i wanted in my 2 armies. Therefore never.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 14:39 UTC
I'm not really a xenos player so I'm safe around Necrons LOL
Knights and knight-like-things, tho? Sign me up!
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 14:41 UTC
and there you have the reason why I'm hesitant.
Marke'ts gonna flood with necron stuff and tank in resale value big time.
so "less than" might still be "more than"
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 14:43 UTC
@Thairne Aren't they imperium?
Super Heavy Imprium detachment.
I'm not worried about the box at all. I play admech and necrons ... 2 boxes of those? Done. That's another 10 immortals, 10 praetorians, 6 wraiths, and 2 awesome crypteks. and 20 more rangers? done.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Mar 05 2018 14:46 UTC
We'll see how the necron dex plays out, my imperium stuff doesn't need much to be 'complete' and necrons could be fun
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 14:47 UTC
The only things i'll sell from those boxes is the 2 tech priests.
I don't need 4.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Mar 05 2018 14:47 UTC
Esp if i can pick up tons of warriors and related off ebay
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 14:47 UTC

Yes ofc. But thats the thing, you want 2 per Knight to fill a detachment.. those smart bastards!

JF selling Dominii for 5 cents :P

Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 14:48 UTC
I'll have 4 armigers and and 3 knights.
That'll be perfect for me I think.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 14:48 UTC
2 super heavy dets, 2 knights, 4 armigers, 6 CP
6 armigers would be 9 CP :P
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 14:48 UTC
Then if I ever get around to getting a Ulator.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 15:07 UTC
Are the Armigers HQs?
Cause ... that'd actually be awesome.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 15:07 UTC
article says they're LOWs
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 15:07 UTC
Oh :(
Tiny tiny LOWs
No matter, i'm still excited. I'll get 2 boxes of those, 1 spare box of rangers, and i'm set.
*1 spare ranger box so I can get 3 sniper bases)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 15:08 UTC
They're still bigger than Bobby G :)
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 15:08 UTC
Hah, true
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 15:08 UTC
tiny LOW is cool dude!
as said, 1 Knight and 2 baby knights make a complete detachment!
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 15:08 UTC
Yeeeeaaaaah
But knights really struggle right now
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 15:09 UTC
If they get into melee and hit first they are deadly. But ... they're huge targets until they get there.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 15:09 UTC
I own a gaggle of them, and they're on Shelf Patrol for now. Sad really.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 15:09 UTC
dunno, never fielded one yet... but I hardly played or painted. Sigh.
But now you can get them without going either really heavy with 3 OR suffering a CP penalty
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 15:09 UTC
Playing ad-mech all of my CP go to giving Shroudsong to them.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 15:10 UTC
it all depends on the baby knights cost
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 15:10 UTC
Oh how I wish I could spend CP to cause them to explode though.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 15:10 UTC
@Thairne nails it
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 15:10 UTC
I spend CP now as it is trying to make things explode in my enemies' face
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Mar 05 2018 15:10 UTC
If the Baby Knights are reasonably priced and suitably durable, then fine, maybe
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 15:11 UTC
heck I could have them painted according to my Crucible of Wrath and Mars Ascendand Knights... to match the babies to the biggies...
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 15:12 UTC
If I can ever find suitable sitting posed knight figures I may still paint mine as 3 Lords of Cinder and their knights.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Mar 05 2018 15:12 UTC

the crucible could walk with my Dangels and have his squires with him as fluff already says...

just imagine, all of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Witnesses accompanied by color matching amigers...

I think I'd cry with all that cuteness!
wait
wrong link xD
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Mar 05 2018 16:04 UTC
people are speculating 200~ for the mini knights
based on the cost of the necron side of the box
tekton
@tekton
Mar 05 2018 17:49 UTC
I was thinking of starting Necrons this year, too...that makes that easier
tekton
@tekton
Mar 05 2018 19:42 UTC
I still feel like softening things up with the hammer head and it's ability to wound, then finishing it off with easier wounds from a ton of fire warriors would end up being a better use of CP some games; esp for 3 cp
