Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 01:12
Yes there are "s"
They are present at the end of most nouns to make them plural

Sorry
Is there something wrong with the repo website?
I can't find the 40k repo on the index to update it
Only the 7th Ed one

It happens
Give t time. It will come back.
It eventually realizes it loves us and comes running back.
But we’ll fight and chase it away again. It’s just the nature of our relationship
We don’t know what we do to send it running. It just up and leaves some days.

I guess I've just had bad luck lately
seems to happen every time I want to make a list

I think BCB is realising that asking (slightly more) nicely is more likely to get things done. #3134, #3133
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 23 2018 10:10
Color me impressed
He’s even figuring out that asking for ridiculously complicated things isn’t completely reasonable
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
May 23 2018 10:12
beautiful
in other news, something less beautiful is that Combat Roster won't let you add more than one unit of the same type
unless you add a different unit between the first and second
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
May 23 2018 10:13
Or select the heading again
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
May 23 2018 10:14
oh right, yeah
got it
because that makes perfect sense
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
May 23 2018 10:15
it is basically a complete waste of time.
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
May 23 2018 10:15
yup, I realise that now, thought I'd throw together a pick-up list without having to stare at my phone (at work... :wink:) but, erm... No.
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
May 23 2018 10:22
ok, who is logging tickets under BCB's name and what have they done with the real BCB?

hehehehe!! perhaps he is suffering from a head injury

@amis92
May 23 2018 10:32
Or we lived long enough to witness a change of behaviour, maybe partially caused by our efforts at non-offensive criticism of his offenses and making an example of ourselves ;) Anyway, win for all. 🥇
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
May 23 2018 10:38
yes, that is possible, and we should continue to (try to) set a good example :smile:
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
May 23 2018 10:49
Although I admit, I'd laugh my ass off if someone PM'd him somewhere, say dakka, asking if he didn't have his github account stolen. :smirk:

Iain Launchbury

May 23 2018 10:51
Now I want to go over and do that. :grinning:
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 23 2018 12:12
No dude, we are not making up points for those LRs
-.-
@amis92 that right there is why I was agreeing with @Kohato about 9999 base points cost
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
May 23 2018 12:14
i like the current version, so i can agree with my opponent that it costs a certain amount for the model and just add that onto my roster
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 23 2018 12:15
I almost guarantee you that guy is wanting us to make up points just so he can be a cheesy bastard and go but BattleScribe said I could
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
May 23 2018 12:38

It'll pass. I think, with time, more and more people will fall into Power Levels, just because GW intends so: there's constantly more models that don't have points cost (like those LRs or some old Forge World models).

Also, we could have these models require selection of GameType and not Matched Play, so they either have to go Open or Narrative (both are legal for non-points cost).

Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
May 23 2018 13:57
I like the final suggestion from @amis92 then it is impossible to select them in a valid matched play roster
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
May 23 2018 13:58
makes sense to me
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 15:21
Wait....are you telling me that Combat Roster, the chosen an anointed...um...army list maker, nay, a tool for scribing armies for battle...isn't perfect? It has...bugs?
Say it ain't so!
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
May 23 2018 15:33
I'm not saying it has bugs (although it does), I'm saying it's a terrible tool in the first place.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 17:20
Oh, indeed.
And just one guy doing it LOLOLOLOLOLOL
OftKilted
@OftKilted
May 23 2018 17:20
Well ... technically it's just one person coding Battlescribe. (the application, not the data files)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 17:20
BS has a team of people and we aren't perfect. I can imagine that poor bastard trying to implement everything on his own and slowly losing his mind
Honestly its the data that really matters
Granted without BS the app we wouldn't be here
So I'm not denigrating the important of it by any means
I'm just saying the data files require a LOT of effort to get done, and get done right
I tell people this all the time
Before I got involved I had no clue as to how much work went in to making the data files
I assumed it was effort-intensive
But my respect for everyone working on this project is (ahem) tremendous
OftKilted
@OftKilted
May 23 2018 17:22
When I started looking for tools (in the way back) the other primary alternative was a product called 'Army Builder' (which is still around)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 17:23
Army Builder is what I used for forever
OftKilted
@OftKilted
May 23 2018 17:23
But they weren't cross-platform. And I couldn't make lists on the fly. (Their app didn't allow list building creation on mobile.)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 17:23
It's a good product
...for what it is
I STILL WISH we could use AB's output
MMMMMM clean, clear, crisp TABLES of stats. So organized. So efficient. So succinct.
BS's output is pretty (for the most part) but geebuz does it waste the paper
And the "summary" is...less than useful.
Really...I wish there was an "Army Builder Output" mode
OftKilted
@OftKilted
May 23 2018 17:26
But, even with that ... they still don't have a list-builder tool for mobile.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 17:26
True
I use the mobile apps...mostly for reference
I don't (usually) build lists on mobile
OftKilted
@OftKilted
May 23 2018 17:27
For folks coming into the local GW ... people will often craft up a list on the fly, since not everyone has all of their lists pre-done.
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
May 23 2018 17:29
AB is basically defunct now. The program itself hasn't been updated in a couple of years.
WolfLair are focusing almost exclusively on their RPG output.
Their strong link with Paizo for the Pathfinder content has driven that
OftKilted
@OftKilted
May 23 2018 17:31
And for many use cases other tools are 'good enough', as an example the AoS Warscrollbuilder website was 'good enough' to give one a general idea of a list for AoS. It just lacked any level of validation.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 23 2018 17:54
@Mad-Spy I know 4months or so ago they were talking about releasing 8e data for AB; I’m not sure it ever actually happened though
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 18:58
I will say that HeroLab is bad ass
I use it exclusively for D&D 5E
And it's great
So there's that
But for realsies AB's output is baller
So goooooooood
Can we please get that? LOL

Question: will Battlescribe be modified to make the mixed units of Deathwatch possible? As it is right now, it lacks the ability to do so
tekton
@tekton
May 23 2018 19:38
@ShadowsofVanity_twitter it should be working well with what's in the current Codex; maybe make sure you have updated data? Otherwise raising a github issue, maybe with a screen shot, would be in order so we can track what's wrong :)
ShadowsofVanity
@ShadowsofVanity_twitter
May 23 2018 19:40
ah there we go. I tried to update it a couple hours ago, but it said there were no files to do so with. It works now scratches head, shrugs whatever, now I can start theorycrafting. Thanks!
tekton
@tekton
May 23 2018 19:41
yay! have fun with it; I can tell you from experience this last weekend that Intercessors with assault running around with a single aggressor is hilariously fun

Hmmmmm
So what's the trick for including an Assassin now?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 23 2018 20:22
Aux support detachment
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 20:22

Nope
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 20:23
Like an Outrider detachment? Something? Or am I delusional?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 23 2018 20:23
Not for assassins or inq
Only LoTD and SoS got the hq-less detachments
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 20:25
Incorrect
Pages 114 and 115 – Vindicare Assassin, Callidus
Assassin, Eversor Assassin and Culexus Assassin, Abilities
Add the following ability:
‘Execution Force: So long as your Warlord is from the
Imperium, you can include this unit in a Vanguard
Detachment even if that Detachment contains no
HQ units. However, if you do so, that Detachment’s
Command Benefits are changed to ‘None’.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
May 23 2018 20:26
Ok
So min3
Do you really want to have 3 assassins?
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
May 23 2018 20:27
...a case can be made for 3 Culexus or 2 Culexus and an Eversor
Jon Kissinger

I see I've been missed. Sorry for being away. I was in australia.
trying to catch up, looks like a few ork issues out there. I'll get them fixed up tonight unless someone else is already working on them.

@tag8833 So ... how many times did you watch the toilet flush and note hat the water was draining the wrong way?
Troy Graber
@tag8833
May 23 2018 23:53
They got 2 flush buttons on every toilet, and I never found one that made a whirlpool when it flushed
but I did my duty and checked frequently
