well, two deathwatch games today that were complete butchery
with me doing the butchering
in the right hands it is a crazy good codex

Yay! Well done :g

I probably have an advantage having what amounts to 3/4ths of a watch fortress worth of DW stuff
with more still being added
company 1: terminators/vanguards/bikers
company 2/3: Veterans
company 4: intercessors
company 5: Reivers, agressors, Inceptors
though I'm not settled on that being the final company organizations, as I start to develop standard KT templates I might use those instead for more character

Sounds pretty solid
the pred is convertable to a rhino/razor, the landraider is magged for all three variants
currently in build queue are 10 more vets (close-combat spec), some vanguards, and the levi/contemptor
might be trading a friend for a landraider achilles
tekton
@tekton
Jun 03 2018 01:02
The next land raider I work on is getting chopped up for terrain board..
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 02:08
RIP
I like them, I think running more than one and some other high T/Sv threats is the key to making them work
they're better for DW because of the need to carry terminators and provide AT

If Exorcists get the Grey Knight keyword in Talons of the Emperor then I will have something cheap enough to take to put in there to justify at least one again
But I was thinking about making a black Templar/DW land raider anyway after I chop one of my 4 up
@WindstormSCR so just lascannon land raider for DW?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 02:16
most fo the time
sometimes crusader
I'll probably run crusader more in pair with the achilles
tekton
@tekton
Jun 03 2018 02:18
I did have some luck running a crusader with GK just for gate of infinity fun

@tekton is the LR you’re chopping at least complete? Lol
Cause I just got a LR from a dude that really needs to be taken out back and put out of its misery
tekton
@tekton
Jun 03 2018 02:24
@alphalas nope, going to put it together still, and actually paint all the stuff inside after I saw it up
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 03 2018 02:26
@tekton ah ok - was going to suggest if you were ok with it I was gunna offer you my LR and some monetary compensation for your LR
tekton
@tekton
Jun 03 2018 02:26
It’s going to be part of my game board for showing my army at tournaments, and later a 2’x2’ terrain piece for our Wednesday night group(s)
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 03 2018 02:27
Because the more I look at this LR closely, the less I want to try to fix it

@alphalas after this hockey game is over I will go out and find the sprues and let you know

@WindstormSCR i'm now wishing there were Primaris Biker models after looking at that force...

sitrep: super-heavy company worked very nicely - tabled my opponent in 90 minutes
final score was 34-8. though i am feeling like a got a good match-up where i pretty much hard countered him

Jun 03 2018 11:34
Fantastic
On the subject of Deathwatch Armies, the more I think about my last game, the more I agree with the thinking that 2x Corvus is not strong
At T7 they're too fragile to be relied upon
But I'm still going to keep both because it is proper rule of cool territory when the Deathwatch come swooping in on wings of fire :smile:
@GenWilhelm who were you playing?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jun 03 2018 11:38
i was cadian, my opponent was emperor's children
my list was basically "how many baneblade chassis can i fit in 2k?" and his was something along the lines of "how many blastmasters can i fit in 2k?"
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jun 03 2018 11:46
Righto, spam tastic
What's the answer either side? Baneblades =? Vs how many blast masters?
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Jun 03 2018 11:48
blaneblades, you can comfortably fit four at just shy of 500pts each. i took one regular bblade, two sswords, and a stormlord
for blastmasters, he had 3 sonic dreads with two each and two battalions of noise marines for another 6
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jun 03 2018 12:23
Pretty loud on both sides then!
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 13:31
@FarseerVeraenthis I hate to say it, but the only reason to use a blackstar over a stormeagle is if transporting bikes
stormeagle is more expensive, but brings a lot more firepower, has potms, and can carry all the same dude types except bikes, and has a 20 capacity, and more wounds
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 03 2018 13:32
I’d concur
And I don’t play DW lol
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 13:33
unless I'm running the "death on treads" list, 1 stormeagle is an auto-take for my DW
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 03 2018 13:33
It’s the same thing raven vs eagle
Unless you absolutely want to transport a dread the wag
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 13:34
and as long as you have more than one armor threat (couple of razorbacks or dreads) and keep all vets in transports, it forces the opponent to spread AT fire
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 03 2018 13:34
Eagle* is better
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 13:35
and if your vets aren't in transports something is horribly wrong
only primaris should be footslogging
and then only because you've run out of teleport slots
(or they're objective camping up in ruins)
my usual list for 2K looks something like:
stormeagle, watchmaster, 3x other HQs, 2 intercessor squads (1 SBR, 1 other) , 4 vet squads, razor, razor, squad of reivers
DS the reivers and second intercessor squads, 2 vets in the eagle, 1 vet in each razor
each vet squad in the eagle has at least one terminator (assault cannon) and a stormshield guy for tanking shots, then weapons load suited to job, the razor vets are usually more HH special squad style, like a plasma squad
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 13:42
@alphalas thoughts on the achilles for deathwatch?
I'm warming up to it, it only holds 6 guys, but that's a KT or KT+character, and it has a hefty anti-tank loadout

@CrusherJoe

Unless something very drastic happens, yesterday was the swan song for the Not-so-Pure Guard Filth list
And also, also unless I hate it or it just sucks my summer GT list is going to be Banana Derpstar/Dubstep Scions
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 15:21
knights may change that
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 03 2018 15:21
They might.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 15:21
especially if the lance allows three warlord traits
"the dominus can only be wounded on 4s, this knight has a perma 4++, and this other one just says fuck you"
"also this plasma cannon is equivalent to 2d6 lascannon shots, and say hello to the other arm which is a shadowsword equivalent"
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 03 2018 15:23
Yeah...the CP farm battalion is hard to beat, and knights are going to need CP in bucketloads
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 15:23
thing is
if the lance is correct
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 03 2018 15:23
Oh the Castellan is an auto-buy for me.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 15:23
you can get two WLTs in a lance without having a knight warlord
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 03 2018 15:23
Still haven't seen what the terrain piece does
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 15:24
so farm battery + knight lance + bananafuckers

@CrusherJoe

Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 03 2018 15:25
Unless I've gone blind or lost English comprehension I don't see the terrain piece in there LOL
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 15:25
1-3CP- Pick a Knight (or 2 for 3CP), it gains the Character keyword. They get a warlord trait for free (but aren't the warlord). All must be different (re-roll duplicate)
and a lance already gives one the character keyword
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 03 2018 15:27
Yes that's pretty aweome
But terrain piece LOL
What does it do?
I've had crazy thoughts based on WC posts and I want to know what it does
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 15:28
re-arms missiles
its probably shit
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 03 2018 16:16
I may have discovered an evil way to run pure DW vets footslogging
terminator in every squad, and 2 bolter/chainsword bodies, 1-2 stormshields, then weapons as needed
take armor shots on the terminator, invulns on SS, easier armor shots on the bolters
H4lek1n
@H4lek1n
Jun 03 2018 18:49
@CrusherJoe re arm missles or weapons with random shots get maxed depending on config.
which is pretty cool because as a knight player you have probably hundreds of free points for stupid terrain pieces

The valiant Freeblade Sir Hekhtur, and his Knight Preceptor steed Canis Rex, will be available later in the year as part of a dual kit that also builds the Knight Preceptor (not to mention every other variant of Questoris-class Knight)
Mother fucker.
Well now I am considering getting that
Though I still may just buy weapon sprues. I really have no need for more than 3 proper IK models and the dominus and 4 armigers.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 03 2018 21:16
Hmmmmmmmmm
So I'm confused
They're obviously pushing Armigers
Then they punish us if we take them
And they fuck us on the Dominus
Like, bend us over and ride us roughshod fuck us
tekton
@tekton
Jun 03 2018 22:38
Yeah, something seems a little odd
