Or stomp it out with the gallant
I want to pick up Lilith with the gallant and choke her out LOL
I haven't played with Knights in a looooooong time (like, last summer) so y'all be prepared to just laaaaauuuuuuggghhhh you asses off at my performance
But
If the list does well it may become my summer GT list
I'll be using my regular crusader: Malles Lupen, The Hammer of the Wolves
...and a couple of others
Which are reg
red
And not my favorite but it's what I've got...they are pretty shamefully painted because the guy I got them from kinda...wanked them up
I need to repaint them
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 00:12 UTC
Hmmmmmm
Ravager or Paragon Gauntlet on the Gallant??
re-rolling 1s to hit on a WS2+ model is haaaaard to pass up
But with the Paragon Love Glove you hit on 2s and wound pretty much everything on 2s
AND do 8 damage
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 00:18 UTC
yeah that's what I'm going with
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 00:26 UTC
That way I can name the list Bulls on Parade v1.1: The Glove of Love
That pleases me, and I'm not sure why (but it does)
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jun 13 2018 00:38 UTC
@CrusherJoe You know how it is ... If there Ain't no Glov'n, there ain't no Lov'n ...
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 00:40 UTC
True that
tekton
@tekton
Jun 13 2018 01:20 UTC
Speaking of Knights, getting closer: https://imgur.com/gallery/gl3RDbY
I technically need to be done tonight with a fieldable version
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 01:55 UTC
AAAW SHIT @tekton that's looking GREAT
tekton
@tekton
Jun 13 2018 01:56 UTC
thanks :) i'm trying to work through the other one or two colors to wrap up the panels tonight...something between stygies and deimos
tekton
@tekton
Jun 13 2018 02:03 UTC
Seems like "Omnissiah's Grace" would end being the best house trait for a supporting fire base
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:07 UTC
tbh while the house traits are nice, basically vulker/hawkshroud or bust
mostly because durability is the primary concern, weapons output the secondary
hawkshroud keeps you shooting better, vulker the same and vulker has saturation bombardment
tekton
@tekton
Jun 13 2018 02:09 UTC
i need one good shooting turn; hawkshroud was also interesting- vulker i can't see as much since it's a GK support platform for me
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:09 UTC
do it up in deimos colors
Deimos is a forge, and every forge has at least a few knight guardians
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:10 UTC
Vulker also has adamantium knight
note the last sentence
so that's pretty much carte blanche to make a GK-aligned knight house
get yoself some of the shapeways faceplates
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 02:14 UTC
So looking at what I'm going to be up against I think the biggest threats are the Ravagers with dark lances
I'm considering using Sally Forth! on the Gallant
that guy is a treasure trove of great knight bits
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 02:15 UTC
Because I know he's going to hide his Ravagers like a little bitch
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:16 UTC
he's even done rotary cannons for the armigers
tekton
@tekton
Jun 13 2018 02:16 UTC
@WindstormSCR yup! that's why i mentioned it above for the extra colors; the base color of the Knight is a variant on their shrouds ;)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 02:16 UTC
That Templar mask is baller
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:16 UTC
yeah, the knight I had was done that way
I'd do a very different one if I made another
might do a house for my deathwatch eventually, but that's a long ways off
@tekton also consider that the best castellan gun relic (and by extension the single best anti-tank knight loadout possible) is mechanicus only
vulker castellan with the cawl plasma cannon is about the scariest thing going with RIS active
4++ that's only woundable on 4s even from a volcano cannon
tekton
@tekton
Jun 13 2018 02:18 UTC
that was my other thought of omnissiah really
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:18 UTC
and is pretty much "here I paid 150 points to give a shadowsword 2d6 lascannon shots"
"and a 4++"
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 02:19 UTC
Volcano cannons aren't exactly common, though
Granted that only wounded on a 4+ is good...but the constraints on the Vulker house tradition are....very not great.
tekton
@tekton
Jun 13 2018 02:20 UTC
one of the guys i've been helping has been using Vulker and had a decent run against drewcarey given how fast they get in his face
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:21 UTC
@CrusherJoe I prefer to think of it as a free bonus that you might occaisionally get in exchange for having one damn near unkillable knight
ESPECIALLY if you stick a couple of techpriests behind it
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Jun 13 2018 02:21 UTC
There is that
We'll see how Hawkshroud does against them Thursday
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 13 2018 02:23 UTC
Does quiche have Custodes Armiger bits yet?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:24 UTC
@alphalas the prow one is a mix of the custodes and templar, so you could just use that one
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:26 UTC
I kind of want to get those underslung blasters for kastellans
No need to magnetize then
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 13 2018 02:33 UTC
Christ on a cracker $181.50+tax for a full custodes set for a knight
Sorry 181.50+shipping
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:35 UTC
yeep
shapeways takes a hell of a cut
Hugh
@Tigerwraith
Jun 13 2018 02:35 UTC
yep shapeways isnt cheap
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:35 UTC
Anyone happen to have 3d print files for various knightly weapons?
Hugh
@Tigerwraith
Jun 13 2018 02:35 UTC
its why I only went after the cover for my stormsurge
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 13 2018 02:35 UTC
Plus I’m doing smoothest detail instead of smooth
Hugh
@Tigerwraith
Jun 13 2018 02:36 UTC
thingverse may
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 13 2018 02:36 UTC
So that’s partly me being lazy and not wanting to have to deal with print lines at all
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:37 UTC
most of the people making knight parts are savvy enough to know they'll make a decent buck putting the designs up on shapeways
I'm so glad that part wasn't very much, and was the only part I wanted for my surge
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:38 UTC
That looks pretty good
Hugh
@Tigerwraith
Jun 13 2018 02:38 UTC
Oh it works like a charm
Wished I had gotten it for the first surge I put togeather
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:39 UTC
Oh fuck yea
8 of these babies
and I have helverins
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:40 UTC
I mean, thingiverse is nice, but the inherent problem is finding someone with the print resolution to do those
shapeways is expensive partly because the smoothest detail stuff uses laser-hardened resin as the material
Hugh
@Tigerwraith
Jun 13 2018 02:41 UTC
the printer I want is 3.5k USD
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:42 UTC
tbh you won't get properly smooth small-detail prints without either a really fucking tiny aperture FDM printer, or going full-on resin-bath UV cure
the PGTM shoulderpads are so good primarily because the tolerances allowed with UV-laser resin are very, very small
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:44 UTC
True :(
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:47 UTC
and I can say from personal experience with my own printer trying to make eldar terrain peices, that the only way I get a good finish on them is by using the printer to make the armature and then covering it with some air-drying clay
not exactly an option on the helverin cannons
so if anything I'd go for the CQ rotaries on shapeways
especially because shapeways is like forgeworld, even minor defects they'll reprint and reship for free
they only do "what you ordered" not "mostly what you ordered"
my shoulderpads order had one misprinted pad on the end of the third set, they're currently reprinting the whole damn order after I talked with the CS
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:49 UTC
The issue is
those guns are 30$ a pair
and I need 4
lol
For 2 pair, I Can go get a damned helverin box from a local shop
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:53 UTC
true, but that box is one armiger
2
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:53 UTC
...huh
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:53 UTC
So for 60 at local shop prices plus tax
I can get 2 helverins for what 4 of those rotaries cost
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 02:54 UTC
pretty crazy
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 02:55 UTC
They'll unfortunately never look great :/ but they'll service for anything but a major event
Hahah, Knight Valiant bits are 20$ already with 6 days left on ebay
that's not surprising
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 03:02 UTC
I might try and pick up some of the carapace parts and things for basing/terrain since those will be cheap as dirt
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 03:02 UTC
yea that's not a bad idea
half destroyed knight as a terrain piece
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 03:15 UTC
whelp, we'll see if I win some valiant bits for 20$. 40$ is worth it for those.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 03:21 UTC
If I do win them I can blue stuff a mold and cast copies if people want.
Might not be perfect. But it’d be free :p
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 03:24 UTC
my friend needs the castellan bits
though if I ever did a knight I'd get the castellan and hunt for the valiant parts
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 03:27 UTC
I can so that
I haven’t built mine yet.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 03:27 UTC
I think he's built his sadly
so it may not be useful
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 03:28 UTC
Ill mold those bits too if you need.
Oh :(
Yea you’d need to have magnetized already in prep
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 03:28 UTC
also we play at a GW so plastic is the only way to really go for things like that unless its obvious 3rd party replacements
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jun 13 2018 03:28 UTC
I’m 3rd party
And it’d be pretty obvious
Lolol

@alphalas
Jun 13 2018 03:36 UTC
I wonder what my GW manager would say to a custodes knight
I actually asked him if I could play my DK or Elysians or any of my FW stuff in his shop
And he was like yeah no problem
....fuck I want to do a custodes knight and 2 Armigers now
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 13 2018 03:41 UTC
Hey @Kohato how much smaller is the Armiger codpiece?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 03:49 UTC
@alphalas from what I can tell from the GWs I've visited, most managers don't give a fuck as long as you buy local for the stuff you can
hell, my local manager doesn't even mind people working out trades in store as long as any cash changed hands in the form of GW giftcard
which works out pretty well

@CloverFox
Jun 13 2018 08:54 UTC
doing your own resin casting is pretty easy, hella fun too imo, bit expensive to get going due to the cost of the mold rubber so now sure how viable it is for the small numbers your looking at, unless you have a lot of friends needing the parts as well
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD

not so much inheritance, more importing. But yes :)
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jun 13 2018 15:45 UTC
this also makes custom stuff easy for those of us that like to rules tinker, since we can make a custom cat then just add an import link
@Jonskichov how does the new beta handle missing import links?
also @Jonskichov this means that imported catalogs cannot be modified by the importing catalog correct?
meaning say I have for the sake of argument a "legions" cat file, that a "Salamanders" catalog imports, I would not be able to modify any of the entries correct?
WindstormSCR

handful of new things we can do with links
WindstormSCR

Jun 13 2018 15:52 UTC
being able to modify imported entries would be the ultimate helpfulness, but even if not that's still pretty good
going to make FW easy
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Jun 13 2018 15:53 UTC
Imports mean you can link to shared entries from imported catalogue, so you can modify it as much as you can with Link.

SHOCKINGLY
A solution was reached
After I gathered enough evidence to prove exactly what was wrong.
I started the call by saying, "I don't really care who is to blame. I don't. Here's my evidence. Now, you fuckers are going to stay on this call until everything is working."
Amazing what setting the tone and standard like that does for a bunch of squabbling vendors.

@/all please take a second to visit appveyor and tell me, what you think. Now, after a push, a build will run on the public server, and for 6 months it'll store generated artifacts. These artifacts include:

  • standalone.bsr for ever single build, which you can directly download into a BattleScribe and test the files at that exact commit,
  • and a pair of .bsr/.bsi that currently isn't supported by BattleScribe (we'll have to wait for update to implement handling URL query params)

When a release is created via GitHub, AppVeyor will trigger a tag build, and this will result in AppVeyor generating artifacts that'll be automatically uploaded and attached to that release (a repo-name.bsi and repo-name.bsr).

Announcement redux

  1. Someone commits changes. nothing new
  2. These changes get pushed to GitHub (synced). nothing new
  3. Magic happens: external service (AppVeyor) gets notified of the push and creates a bunch of files from this commit that's new
  4. Besides commit, a ✔or ❌appears - it's a link to the page where you can download a standalone.bsr file (called artifact) which contains all datafiles as presented in the commit.

So something a non-tech priest like I will never actually make use of, roger
:+1:
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Jun 13 2018 23:29 UTC
Not really. You can download the standalone.bsr onto your mobile device and it'll probably be a little easier than manual copying, or dropbox
.bsr is a standard BattleScribe-handled file format that contains a repo distribution - a bunch of datafiles.
Also, when a Pull Request is created, every push to that PR will be built, and so you can download the datafiles as they are in PR without any git tools.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 13 2018 23:30 UTC
Ok - @amis92 there’s not much simpler then just saving-as a .catz file in my DB folder on the computer and then hitting the sync button on my phone
/js lol
Which is the only thing I can see this being useful for, troubleshooting a new build on mobile

Amadeusz Sadowski

When BattleScribe fixes handling index.bsi query parameters, we'll have per-branch feeds, so each one of us could use directly master-branch files.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jun 13 2018 23:34 UTC
Because it’ll automatically upload the imported file to DB
