@CrusherJoe so how did your weekend go?

@WindstormSCR you're right, I looked at the sprues and changing shoulder pads would be ... troublesome... I'll keep my money in my pocket for the time being then

Is there a method of validating the 'number of 'Units in a Force''? So ... If all of the core entries are setup as a 'Unit' (not model or upgrade) do a Max 'Units' validation in force against a total number of 'Units' in a different force? (i.e. to enforce a 'Maximum of 25% of your Units, (not points) in a given Force as compared to the entire roster)?

You could kind of.
Set max something all lists have to 1
If more than 25% in roster and child forces of “unit”
That may work.
By set to 1 I mean 0
To flag an error.
Only way to do a generic error atm

@Kohato Can you do it for the generic “Unit” selection type?
Hmm have to stare at it after I’m back editing

could try using a count of categories??
is this AoS???
If so, I'd have to know the full requirement, but you could use multiples
so, if you have 4 Core units, and that gives you a maximum 1 x "Other" unit then you can increment a limit based on the count of categories
I think that works... I admit I'm clutching at straws somewhat
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 02 2018 19:52
@FarseerVeraenthis Yeah, this is AoS. You can have 'Allies' (which is a Child Force in our current implementation). But you can only have 25% of your units be 'Allies Units', in addition to the constraint (for Matched Play) that they be no more than a specific points allotment.
So, basically.
But it isn't 'Core' it's just 'Units in general'
So, it is 25% of the total number of units. (with "Units" being a 'sub-selection' of "Selections" ... the 'Units/Models/Upgrades' thing.)
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 02 2018 19:58
hmmm...
the problem is that you cannot directly reference "Child forces"
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 02 2018 19:59
exact wording is “One out of every four units included in an army can be an allied unit.”
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 02 2018 19:59
so, something that might work (blue sky thinking :wink) is to add a flag in the allied force, "Allied" and then have it automatically add an "allied" flag selection to the units in that force
so then the user would have to manually flag the child force as the ally
and I'm not sure if you could make Battlescribe automatically add the subsequent Allied flag to each unit or not
I mean, that would be an option, if thye user wanted to validate his number of units
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 02 2018 20:01
So, current implementation is that the “Primary Force” can have a child force of “Allies”
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 02 2018 20:01
but it would be ... unpleasant .. from a UX persepctive
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 02 2018 20:02
But prior edition didn’t do any form of “Unit % validation”
Yeah... one could put a “Allies switch” into a unit.
And hide that switch unless it is an instance of the child force “Allies”

@OftKilted allies is a particular force type right?
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 02 2018 20:05
Yes
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 02 2018 20:05
oh right, that probably changes thing
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 02 2018 20:06
sinply make a SSE in the GST called "Allies" with a "max selections in roster" of 25%
add that to every unit, with hidden unless "Ancestor Allies"
*ancestor instance of
should work
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 02 2018 20:07
Okay ... when we're referring to 'Selections' as long as we don't hit 'Child Selections' that doesn't capture upgrades, etc?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 02 2018 20:08
might need to play with the logic a bit, but it's the first idea that comes to mind that isn't horrible

@FarseerVeraenthis
Jul 02 2018 20:08
:+1:
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 02 2018 20:10
So min1/max1, with set min1=0 if Ancestor !=Instance of 'Allies'
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 02 2018 20:11
nah, just max 1
you don't want to add it automatically
just have the option present in the unit
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Jul 02 2018 20:11
So, the end user is manually selecting that a unit is counting as 'an ally'? for validation?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Jul 02 2018 20:11
then have it make sure no more than 25% of units have the tag
unfortunately yes
only way to do it that won't involve manually removing it from the primary force
without duplicating units

You guys know what's still really good for Tau?
2 Riptides and a Yvahra
With drones
Drone everywhere
You wanna know what's also really good?
Knight Gallants. With the Paragon Gauntlet.
And outflanking.
They are amazingly destructive.
Greatest hits:

R1 opponent had a Falchion. Outflanked the Gallant. He murdered my Armigers (duh) T1. T2, outflanked in, soaked up some piddly Auspex Scan fire, then CHARGE ON IN! Didn't kill the Falchion first fist fight (they're T9, and I rolled one too many 1-2s) so one Strat later, fight again! Boom goes the falchion. He had a librarian on the second floor behind the Falchion, I use the Devastating Reach strat when I initially charged so I could declare him a charge target...tossed the Falchion wreck but didn't score, Death Grip strat played, snatched up his LIbrarian and choked him out.
It was glorious.
R2 vs Tau. Outflank knight (this will become a theme). He drops 3 commanders in a little circle into my deployment zone. My turn outflank in, charge all three, soak up over watch, Paragon Fist the first two then death grip out the last one. TRIPLE TAU TERMINATION!
