So fun story
Everyone remember those dreadpods I acquired 3-6 months ago and was bitching about the amount of dremeling they required?

no
but go on

Ok so tldr of that part of the story was I bought 2 dreadpods and 3 dreadclaws, and the dreadpods needed dremeling just to get the part of the bottom with the hinge points to sit flush with the part of the bottom that has the gravplates and retro-thrusters
So
I just finished my fellblade
So now I need to do the service I offered as payment; building 2 dreadpods, knowing they’re from coolcast so logic states they should be better then the 2 I built, right?
RIGHT?

No.
Never right.

Down to a imperfection I noticed in mine that I’m seeing again
So I’m thinking that coolcast must have made the yellow pieces of shit too
Which automatically makes coolcast, well, pardon the pun but less cool then I previously thought

Is coolcast a reseller?
Or are you being facetious with failcast.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 09 2018 02:30
I don’t actually know tbh; as far as I knew they produce their own product same as z
No coolcast is the actual name of a actual recaster

ahh
maybe a mold issue?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 09 2018 02:31
If so they’re incompetent
The dude I’m building these for bought them 2-3 months ago
The ones I got came into country years ago
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Jul 09 2018 02:33
That's odd
same issues that far apart
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Jul 09 2018 02:34
Exactly
And in quite different resins too
Because this is admittedly a much nicer resin then the crap I had gotten was

I wonder if they have a mold reselling network or seomthing
like, z made his own mold - it had the issues, then shared it among others in their network

It's probably more like "the models that FW sold weren't as perfect as you might think"
Because some nights I still wake up in a cold sweat mumbling about "storm eagle" and "clamps" and "heat guns"
Other nights it's some nonsense about "dreadnaught drop pod"
And I've come to learn that the older and bigger a FW model is, the greater the chances are that it's gonna have some...issues, to put it gently.

@FarseerVeraenthis That doesnt happen in the heresy yet, since it's even after the battle of Terra. BUT in the Dark Angels books by Gav Thorpe shit goes to town in current 40k. Not want to spoil anything, but in the last book, The Unforgiven, a major mindfuck happens at the and which reveals what may or may not happened on Caliban :P

@CrusherJoe I fixed up a Dread drop pod with some 3mm Hardboard as a shim between the base and the top, around the hinges

Hang on .. lemme see if I kept any pics

as I recall ... for the doors to actually go flush on the floor after opening ... a 9mm shim would be needed
Add into that the actual base wasn't uniform in sizes, ... it was all over the shop with one side much shorter than the others
