Also, this is a thing happening at my place:

And where did you find that?
Because that's just mean

One of the shit-stirrers on the Berks Page
Hence why I said cruel joke

@CrusherJoe whatcha printing?
and what printer model?
you also want to check these guys out
they do good shit
also these guys: https://warlayer.com/
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Aug 24 2018 04:09
Ooooooo
It's an Ender-3
And it's the "test dog" file that comes with it
Spent some time getting it dialed in and so (as is tradition, I guess?) I'm printing the dog
Also...wow. That printablescenery.com stuff is niiiiiiice
Searching for "40k" on Thingiverse is dangerous
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Aug 24 2018 04:56
most of them are badly designed for FDM printing
PS and warlayer are some of the only guys to get it 'right'
@CrusherJoe ABS or different material?
if you're using something besides ABS then it'd behoove you to make a 'dry box' since most non-ABS filaments are hygroscopic
this vid has some useful bits and peices from the perspective of a beginner
for printable scenery stuff, not sure how fine yours goes, but while they say use 0.1 i got best results from thier test models using 0.06
for layer height

going to try some of thier orcish/ogre-ish terrain for my Armies on Parade project this year
I can't tell you the model of my printer because it doesn't really have one, built out of a bunch of cheap chinese parts and a few bits of open source hardware between myself and my dad, acts like a makerbot though, at least that's what Cura thinks it is
lol

nice
I'd love a bit of 3D printer action - simply because they're cool - but I don't know where I'd put it or what I'd really DO with it... :smile:

@FarseerVeraenthis the new Necromunda boards are 11.5x11.5 the deathwatch overkill boards are 8x10.5
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Aug 24 2018 11:21
11.5? Is GW producing things in SI system now? (I think it's exactly 30cm)
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Aug 24 2018 11:25
pretty close to that, yeah. but what do you mean by "now", their base sizes have been in mm for a long time :stuck_out_tongue:
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Aug 24 2018 11:34
Hmm. That's true, I forgot :D
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Aug 24 2018 11:35
also BFG and Epic were metric game systems ^^
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Aug 24 2018 11:35
Still, game boards are in inches, aren't they? Realm of Battle is 48/72, not 120/180?
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Aug 24 2018 11:36
They are in inches
I blame the U.K. for that form of measurement.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Aug 24 2018 11:37
hey, we use metric everywhere that it's important
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Aug 24 2018 11:37
Me too. I mean, they are leaving EU in the name of their "Imperial" self-consciousness
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Aug 24 2018 11:38
The old Necromunda system didn’t use 2d boards. It had the Card stock platforms. So for New-cramunda it’s the 30cm boards
And we all use inches for distance in 40k and AoS ... unless those aren’t important ...
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Aug 24 2018 11:42
well it's not important in terms of precision
but it being a d6 system makes inches much easier to work with
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Aug 24 2018 11:44
That's an observation I've never made...!
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Aug 24 2018 12:00
righto, thanks for the measurements, they're a lot smaller than a Kill Zone board then
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Aug 24 2018 12:04
@GenWilhelm that’s actually a good point - I never thought about it like that. If your system is based on d6, using inches is almost perfect. Hmm
CloverFox
@CloverFox
Aug 24 2018 12:16
isn't lotr based on cm?
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Aug 24 2018 12:22
@FarseerVeraenthis the Boards are all designed to be connected together to create larger semi-randomized boards. (Much like the current FW Zone Mortalis boards. But lots lots cheaper.)
Necromunda comes 9 individual double sided boards and Overkill with 8 boards.
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Aug 24 2018 12:23
huh..?! and each board is 11.5" square??
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Aug 24 2018 12:23
And there is an expansion for Necromunda that adds another group of boards
Yes.
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Aug 24 2018 12:24
right, so, 6 of them gives a Kill Zone
that would be 23" x 34.5"
2 wide by 3 long
OftKilted
@OftKilted
Aug 24 2018 12:25
Basically.
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Aug 24 2018 12:26
groovy
So, ~18 sq/f of double sided boards
And we have the Rogue Trader Killteam boards coming in soon as well.
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Aug 24 2018 12:29
Have you seen the image of all the KT boards put together?
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Aug 24 2018 12:32
that is pretty awesome
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Aug 24 2018 12:41
took me a while to figure out where the boards are from - two x killzones are doule sided, the second side being sector imperialis, and then the starter set board is double sector imperialis
I wonder if they will continue to link them all together...?? Deathworld forest would be the next one
all very exciting, so much stuff to spend money on!!
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Aug 24 2018 12:50
You're in Hertfordshire, right?
We should get together for a game. It's not that far from Oxford.
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis

Hampshire, starts with H, ends in shire but not all that close
That would be cool to meet IRL

I live in Eastleigh, just north of Southampton

About 60-90 mins depending on traffic then.
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Aug 24 2018 13:43
:+1: possible then, but not regularly :smile:
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Aug 24 2018 14:14
So another instance of something in Index being turned into a strat, lone wolves
Now, here’s a question
Stim injectors were FAQd away
Was the Crucible of Malediction FAQ’d too?
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Aug 24 2018 14:16
@WindstormSCR it'll do .08 or .05, I forget which (I think .05) but yeah .1 is the sweet spot for terrain I do believe
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Aug 24 2018 14:19
@alphalas yes, anythig that was a unit or wargear that becomes a strat is not allowed to be taken from the index anymore
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Aug 24 2018 14:19
are lone wolves not a unit you can take in the codex?
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Aug 24 2018 14:20
Apparently no lone wolves (the unit) are not in the codex, but lone wolf (the stratagem) is
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Aug 24 2018 14:21
smh
the stratagem looked fun when i first saw it. now it seems bittersweet with it killing lone wolves proper
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Aug 24 2018 14:36
It's not like Lone Wolves were burning up the charts anyway
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Aug 24 2018 14:36
i thought they were one of the few SW units that actually saw play?
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Aug 24 2018 14:37
I've not seen them played -- like, at all
But that's a very small sample size
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Aug 24 2018 14:38
im thinking back to pre-Big FAQ, when people would soup a SW / guard brigade with lone wolves as the mandatory elites
