Hey @GenWilhelm or @amis92 - how many stickies do you have to play with on the subreddit?
It might be good to sticky a post about Appspot taking a nap every so often.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 12:29
only 2. i believe it's the same for every subreddit
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 12:29
@Mad-Spy - we should not be deleting comments from other people.
re: #3622
Ah damn. Jon's using them for other useful purposes
Oh well
I need to have a .self post archived and ready to link every time it fails lol
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 12:32
lol, appreciate it :smile:
appspot has been rather finicky lately
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Sep 17 2018 12:34
If people are going to post completely useless and unhelpful comments, then I'm going to delete them.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 12:34
Yep, then I see the expected posts of omg data is gone, are we C&Dd, woe is us.
We're not here to control the course of discussion. Censoring people who are already irritating is the definite wrong way to go.
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Sep 17 2018 12:54
Deleted comments were the caw fellow?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Sep 17 2018 12:56
yes.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 12:56
he's been commenting on a lot of issues lately, rarely adding anything of value
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Sep 17 2018 12:57
and in some cases, just being completely wrong.
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 17 2018 12:57
now I want to know what he said...:-(
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Sep 17 2018 12:57
it was basically "recreated"
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Sep 17 2018 12:58
Yeah I noticed that. I’ve just been ignoring the fuck out of him
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis

Sep 17 2018 13:01
I'm sorry I encouraged him on the world.
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Sep 17 2018 13:14
I suspect he doesn't have access to the books, as he put a comment on one of my tickets which didn't match the RAW.
the comment on #3624 is incredibly unhelpful
Jon Kissinger
@alphalas
Sep 17 2018 13:16
Yeah I didn’t want to let that be the last comment on that thread hence my clarification
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Sep 17 2018 13:19
Although, #3624 is basically the reason why I split all of the FWHA HQs into the relevant catalogues.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 13:20
well technically any named character from FW (other than the sala ones) can be SM, BA, or DA successors
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy

Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 13:21
pretty much
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 13:25
Ok yea - none of what I see from him is helpful -.- That said we probably still should not be deleting comments outright.
H4lek1n
@H4lek1n
Sep 17 2018 14:45
i see what you mean but it could be worse if people get the impression he is part of the team and they get responses like " just take another captain"..
@CrusherJoe congratulations. was this the purple feminist knight? i can see how he performces well in 40k especially against marines ^.^
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 17 2018 15:01
the problem is, people who are "subscribed" to the issue (as a thread) will get an email with the unhelpful comment anyway - deleting them in Git simply makes it difficult for anyone who wasn't subscribed prior to the deletion to see the whole conversation
it is also the case that we have had "heated debates" previously and deleting comments has simply inflamed the situation
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Sep 17 2018 15:02
my bad, it won't happen again
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 17 2018 15:02
:cuddle:
its OK
this is not what I would class as a "heated debate" so there's no damage done
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Sep 17 2018 15:03
I will now passively-agressively fix all of the issues which have been open for more than 7 days
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Sep 17 2018 15:04
beautiful
have fun!!
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 15:12
@Mad-Spy, i couldnt find a working solution to completely solve #3536, but i think my comment fixes Anon's issue, so don't spend too much time on that one :wink:
Amadeusz Sadowski
@amis92
Sep 17 2018 15:40
@Mad-Spy regarding comments, there's a new option to hide unhelpful comments since about half a year or so. It's probably best of both worlds, ie. it leaves a post, but it's hidden and visibly marked as unhelpful/spammy etc.

Thanks. Wasn't aware of that. I'll use that in future if needed.

That reminds me I need to commit the DW fixes
I have been a bad contributor
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 16:53
Lol. fixes issues in anger "There. It works now." Glare
@GenWilhelm I don't even see that as an issue to solve?
SHAD has 1 Superheavy, which by the rules can be a relic.
So there shouldn't need to be validation there.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 16:56
Did you read my comment? ☺
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 16:57
Yea, I guess I mean that there's nothing to fix - so don't bother keeping the issue open. I agree with your comment :D
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 17:00
It does currently allow some invalid selections, can't remember exactly what rn.
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 17:04
ahh gotcha. Damn FW
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 17:10
yeah, it's the whole "dont apply this restriction to the first one in the army" that throws a wrench into the whole thing
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 17:12
I had similar with relics on FW Knights
I just said fuck it and stripped things out into other groups lol
MS word can do that to page numbers, why can't BS do it to constraints - /s
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 17:15
if we could just do a "Max 1 in <Specific Force Type>" constraint, it would be a lot easier
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 17:15
I thought you could?
Wait no
nvm
you can do conditions, not constraints that way
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 17 2018 17:35
@acebaur any reason you deleted the AGL/Fist combo from the DW watch captain?
it was a legitimate index option and a model exists for it
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Sep 17 2018 17:38
Let me look into it
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 17:39
For reference.
I'm guessing at least.
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Sep 17 2018 17:40
@Kohato thank you, that was it
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 17:40
:D
Alex Baur
@acebaur
Sep 17 2018 17:40
So it was a legal option for a captain but not a watch captain
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 17 2018 17:40
except #3443 was wrong in his interpretation of how index options transition for "modified indexes"
as far as the codexes are concerned, the modified index doesn't exist
because the designer commentary explicitly says use the original datasheet
which is the base unmodified captain
I hate to be that rules lawyer, but someone has to since we're "strict RAW"
so I'll put it back with these fixes
because the people who 'think' they know how things work are the same ones doing this: https://github.com/BSData/wh40k/issues/3549#issuecomment-419184915
which is utterly wrong
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 17 2018 17:54
also
daily reminder
DEPRECATION WAS A MISTAKE
and a further reminder that GW can't write the DW codex worth a shit either

"They get all the best stuff"

proceed to have them missing large chunks of the space marine armory and options

thank fuck I mostly play narrative and have a permissive local scene that doesn't mind playing against my conversions/additions, but at least I keep track of what's legal vs ask
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 18:01
Mmm, Marine Soup,
I want a mega-dex. Codex Astartes
Everything in one damn book
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 17 2018 18:01
I actually am making a little checklist I can just keep reprinting
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 18:01
make it gigantic, idc
it'd solve so many issues
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 17 2018 18:02
I mean, that's basically what index 1 was
and it didn't solve as many issues as we thought
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 18:03
But, it could
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 17 2018 18:03
that would imply not-crappy rules writing
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 18:03

Sample TOC:

1) Chapter Traits
2) Shared Units
3) Unique Units

True
Disclaimer, all previous publications are moot, stop asking
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 17 2018 18:09
that would open up a giant can of worms with deprecation unless they added anything that is currently indexed
which legal would REEEE over
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Sep 17 2018 18:10
Add all that was indexed.
Fuck it, it's a game
make everyone happy
4) Shared Points Values
5) Unique Points values
We have battle brothers, so an imperium index is not needed. But with as fucky as Astartes is, one single book would do wonders.
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 18:22
@WindstormSCR what's the logic that allows a termi watch captain to take a grenade launcher?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR

this is how it's been handled for all derivative codexes (BA/DA/SW/DW) because otherwise a bunch of things that have models don't work
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 18:25
oh, i see you're not applying the deathwatch modifier to the datasheet
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Sep 17 2018 18:25
yeah, because if you do that to BA a bunch of things break
same with SW
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Sep 17 2018 18:26
does it?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR

yeah
I'll go dig for the details of the original conversation
