I really need to sort my bits out at some point
I have like 4 craft boxes full of them from tau, SM, DE, Necrons, Sylvaneth, Daemons, some Orruks, Admech, I think that's it?
Very happy
I just want a Harlon nayl, patience kys, and kara swole now
Unfortunately I don’t think they’ll ever be made

but then I keep most things on frames if there are sufficient bits so I know what kit/frame it is if I need multiple

I have a really useful box, I think it's the 18 ltr one, with two inserts that contains most of my unbuilt stuff, then I have some retail boxes - Falcon, triumvirate, wraithknight, land raider - and then my bits boxes for some of the unbuilt models... Tbh, it's not as much as some, but I just paint really slowly...!!

does @tag8833 live? or will one of us have to pick up orks
I should have the time to do it provided I can get the epub asap
but will probably need some help combing through the thing for changes with how much will be different
I’m expecting DE level silliness and beyond, but at least the spiky elves prepped me for where to look

I haven't see him for ages and have been picking up Orks issues. I was going to offer, but if you're good to do it, I can concentrate on Commanders for KT.

i've seen him active elsewhere. maybe worth pinging him on a different platform, in case he has notifications for here turned off?

I'm still here
I'll take care of Orks as soon as I get a copy of the new rules, unless someone else really wants to do it.

so... I got fed up with those foam boxes that are expensive and useless. I looked after magna racks and found them to be.. a wee bit costly. 170 pounds and the like.
So I started to build one myself... Obviously WIP, I'm waiting for delivery on the pre-cut steel sheet which's gonna get glued to the wood under the handles.
Some laquer and some airbrushing and I might even stencil somehting onto it.
thats 2x 290x400mm of room for miniatures up to easy dragoon height.

plus it stores dice, codexes and rulebook below the lowest plate
about 3-4€ material cost per plate.. so all in all 10€ with the box (plus magnets)

@Thairne can you take a shot of how you’re attaching the handles and supports? I might have to steal this idea

I have been thinking about something similar, but currently I'm finding metal bicuit tins are doing a pretty excellent job
although, I am planning on using the metal sheet AS the base, since then you gain the thickness of the wood in "head height" (and I have an air joggler, which will stiffen sheets of metal in a jiffy  )

@WindstormSCR sure, its pretty easy though, all craft store supplies
the supports are simple angles, screwed into the wood.
The handles are the same, they come with 2 screws. Just drilled 2 holes, screw the screws, done.

I'm just not sure yet what glue to use to affix he steel sheets yet... probably hot glue, and the handles will press down the sheets as well later on

what the hell is an "air joggler"?
20181025_212159.jpg
it basically puts a step around the edge of a piece of metal
they are used when doing car body repair to allow two pieces of metal to sit flush together so you can weld then and not need too many tons of filler to cover the join
so, the flange of one bit of metal sits behind the other up to the step created by the tool

I see
Yeah, with 0.5mm of thickness I felt safer to attach it to something :P Plus these boxes get up to 33cm in height, so thats a plate and a knight on top... fits 4-5 knights easily and if that isnt enough room - these boxes stack :D
you also can just pick a higher box ;P

I just went to a craft store and let them cut a few sheets of plywood to the inside measurements of a box of my choosing
you can go as nuts as you want, from tiny to admech worthy :P

uhuh
I find it harder to concentrate, but I joined a "pledge, paint, or pay" group on Facebook, and now I've pledge I just need to get the rascals done
also, I need them for a tournament too so.... as @CrusherJoe has previously mentioned, tournaments should really be attended by well painted armies because #hobby

Oct 25 2018 21:31
well, they won't be totally finished and polished, but my army is now very nearly "3-colours with a little detail", and I have a month to go
so, once they are acceptable for a "basic" level of painting I'll start polishing them as much as I can before the torunament

the hilarious thing is, it is only a 1k tournament, and I have about 1k's worth of beautifully painted dudes - but it wouldn't be a competitive army
all helps towards the target of getting all my Deathwatch to "Gaming Standard" by the end of the year
I need me one of these for bits
Simon Porter
@FarseerVeraenthis
Oct 25 2018 22:27
yeah, that... a lot of different bits...
