@tekton I had a good laugh at #3895 . it epitomizes typos and raw arguments in such a humorous way

@WindstormSCR thanks for the tip, I'll check it out :smile: :+1:

@Thairne, did you get Mechanicus (the game)? Bought it last night and played till 3am. It is that rare beast, a genuinely good 40k PC game.
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 10:48
@WindstormSCR, regarding #3881, what you've done isn't quite what I meant. You also need to make the weapons collective, so that multiple selections collapse into a single entry, like this.

What's been amusing the last several hours is seeing how many time @Mad-Spy has started playing Mechanicus
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 14:37
what? I haven't played it since 3am this morning. :)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 14:38
LOL
Also, I thought you guys might find this entertaining

>BattleScribe output
>easy to read
choose one
i'm personally a fan of what minihq does where you submit the actual .rosz file and it generates its own output, while also allowing you to download the roster so you can load it into your own bscribe
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 14:46
Yeah...basically...what we REALLY need to do is lobby for the creation of and/or create our own formatter that will output ETC format lists.
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 14:47
XSL transforms!
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 14:57
The sad thing is...if I had any idea how to even start creating such an animal I would do it myself
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:00
it's actually not incredibly difficult if you've done any coding.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:00
That's just it...most of my coding is shell scripting and Android ROM hackery.
And neither of those is actual "coding"
And while I'm guru-level (according to my boss) in IT the two areas where I am the weakest (by my own admission) are databases and webservers.

<h1>
<xsl:value-of select="@name"/>
</h1>
<section>
<xsl:for-each select="bs:forces/bs:force/bs:selections/bs:selection">
<xsl:if test="@type='model'">
<!-- Card Front -->
<div class="card">
<xsl:variable name="nodePoints">
<xsl:for-each select="bs:selections/bs:selection/bs:costs/bs:cost">
<ItemCost>
<xsl:value-of select="@value"/>
</ItemCost>
</xsl:for-each>
</xsl:variable>
<xsl:variable name="subTotal" select="exslt:node-set($nodePoints)"/>
<div class="extra">
<div style="float:left;">
<xsl:value-of select="@customName"/>
</div>
<div style="float:right;">
<xsl:value-of select="sum($subTotal/ItemCost) + bs:costs/bs:cost/@value"/>Points
</div>
</div>
If you can parse that, you can write XSL
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:03
Hmm...I think I know what that does
Are any of you guys familiar with this "ETC format" of lists?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:05
It's in the context of a Roster, and for each "selection", which is type "model", it finds the "cost" (which is the base cost), then finds the costs of any sub-items, sums them together, and then outputs the result.
no, not up on Tournament formats
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:07
I'm looking for it -- the closest thing I've found is in the ETC docs
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:07
The above is from the Kill Team XSL which outputs the Rosters in datacard format. It actually works for some catalogues almost as is.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:07
Yeah I've tried it on a couple of my lists -- it's definitely cool
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:12
Here's a link to all the ETC 2018 lists that the captains submitted:
...and there's variations in there from list to list. Minor ones, to be sure, but there are variations.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:18
You'll also notice it's very similar to the text output of BScribe
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Nov 16 2018 15:22
yeah, looks like a lot of people take the text output of bscribe and edit it to fit the format
which is good. the default text output is really annoying to read
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:25
Does that mean transforming the text output into this format would be....easy?
(or maybe "less difficult"?)
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Nov 16 2018 15:27
maybe. but it breaks down when there's a lot of sub-selections
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:30
It's also difficult to work around inconsistency between catalogues. The Aeldari cats don't play nice with the KT transform, but others do.
We can probably work something out.
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:31
I'm thinking it might be time to have actual standardized ways to implementing datafiles when "2" comes out
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Nov 16 2018 15:32
that's what we said when we started on the 8e files ;)
though tbf, they are a lot more uniform than 7e was
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:32
As I think transforms are going to become important next ITC season
Maybe even for LVO
Actually....definitely for LVO
I mean...it's only the biggest 40K event on the planet...
(lol)
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:34
It's just little things like having SSEs that are just for profiles.

Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Nov 16 2018 15:35
i think that was a solution to summary output not telling you who has what (which it now does)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 16 2018 15:36
Hmmmm
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:36

Nov 16 2018 15:37
Nothing like inevitability
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Nov 16 2018 15:37
i mostly just want to avoid breaking lists
but if 2.02 is breaking shit anyway, then it's a good excuse
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:37
@Mad-Spy yes, yes Idid! I only could clog 2h in it, but I like it. It feels very genuine and a work of love... The devs nailed the AdMech spot on so far. Cant wait to get home and explore some more necron tombs!
Will Pattison
@GenWilhelm
Nov 16 2018 15:38
though i do get slightly triggered whenever i see a list with hive guard in it
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:38
@Thairne, Do you want a hint?
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:38
a hint? yes, but no spoilers please :P
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:38
Did you get to leveling up yet?
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:39
once for each of the guys, went secutor to buff troops and the other is an enginseer to help conserve blackstone
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:39
ok, then I strongly recommend getting Lvl 1 Lexicanus on everyone
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:39
free CP
?
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:40
Because you will surely need those CP
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:40
hm yeah... I see your point
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:40
once you get the nice weapons that cost 2+ CP per shot
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:40
omnissiah edition has an arc scourge that costs 3
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:41
yeah, so when you start you can fire that 1 every other turn, if you're lucky. When everyone has one of those, you run out quick.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:41
so far I didnt feel strapped for CP with the servo skulls, but if you only have a phosphor blast pistol.. go figure :P
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:41
Yeah, totally missed the "Skulls can fetch CP" thing in the tutorial!
and the skulls get more useful as you level as well.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:42
watched a bit of the dev stream, otherwise I'd have missed that too..
Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:42
so you're contesting for sending them to fetch CP
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:42
just having the 1dmg from the.. dominus? tree to knock out those pescy RP necrons...

Yeah, also Deathmarks are literally the worst.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:43

Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:43
yeah, like you didn't know that all the Necron units are in the game.
:P
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:43
actually
I didnt :P
I went in totally blind
I only know of destroyers, warriors and scarabs

Iain Launchbury
@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 15:48
Lots has been said about the sound, which is awesome. I love that the Magi speak in Binaric, but still have different "accents".
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 15:49
the portraits. The characters, coming from differrent forgeworlds, being totally different.. the writing! Faustinus speaking from "emotional cores" he can "access" and "allow"...

I hope this shit plays as well as I hope so they announce add ons... just imagine what they could do with BOYZ

I want to implement them for WGCXI
I probably won't get to, but damn I want to

it's a funny way to put a soft ban on unpainted models, but probably not actually any fun to use/have used against you

@Kohato, I really hope there are no C'Tan in Mechanicus.

They'd be great bosses
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 16 2018 18:18
considering you run 2 techpriests and 4 servitors at the start... I dont think a C'Than would be a fair matchup for now :P
there is some "Void Admiral" guy that is a sentient Destroyer Dude

@Mad-Spy
Nov 16 2018 18:20
I can neither confirm or deny the existence of other boss battles in the game.

Nov 16 2018 18:21
@CrusherJoe I need these. Stat.
Bad thing tho is.. the slaneesh player that had his demon princes unpainted for 5 years?
He started Harlekins. This is what he puts out now.

Im getting scared. Cant paint for shit with a brush still, but his airbrushing is impressive
So I fear duncans stratagems will soon fail...
