the cultist didnt explode, melt or mutate over night and looks fine and non-sticky. Guess it worked!
Marneus Calgar is the original and perhaps most iconic Space Marine character, having been with us in one form or another since the very first edition – so it’s only fitting that this venerable hero is the first to be reborn as a Primaris Space Marine.

oh lord.
They are actually doing it.
at this point buying ANY non primaris SM model is... a bad idea I feel.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 13:34
Eh, I don’t see deathwatch changing to a non-mix anytime soon, so I’m going to finish them out
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 13:35
true, but buying and painting a model that I feel is being completely replaced once they get to it does not feel nice.
Primaris Deathwing/Ravenwing are years out at least, but still...
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 13:38
Eh, still a long way to go, and primaris don’t have good bike/terminator/vanguard replacements yet, or gear like storm shields, etc
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 13:38
sure, no disagreement there
but I'd rather focus on AdMech for now, get 3 of every unit and then I might go back to the Dangels.
cause those dont get phased out anytime soon, young as they are
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 13:39
Inceptors could become interesting if they get some weapon options like aggressor gauntlets or power weapons
but right now they’re in a bit of an oddball spot
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 13:39
that would require a new sprue tho, wouldnt it?
I'd rather thing they'd add rules or stratagems to help them out
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 13:40
yeah, which is why I only see it happening as a ‘new unit’
the biggest thing primaris need is an affordable, no-frills transport
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 13:41
definately
less land raider, more rhino

VigilusWeekender-Nov24-Noise2jvfesbhv.jpg
If all noise marines were like this, i'd totally go chaos.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 13:43
that at least answers the question - do noise marines do dubsteb or heavy metal? :P
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 13:43
tbh, that model screams “popularity test” to me
Earl Bishop
@DrTobogganMD
Nov 24 2018 13:43
I just noticed, the whammy bar is the trigger.
That's amazing.
It's the new special edition model in GW stores.

Im actually more interested in seeing the rules of the warbringer
thats one big gun

Right?

Nov 24 2018 14:16
10D6 S16 AP-5 MW or something :D
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 24 2018 14:19
So, I mean, yay new Titan
But...um...why did they have to make it look like those incredibly poorly-proportioned (and just plain goofy-lookin') first-gen terminators?
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 14:22
its basically a warlord with a different faceplate and top section...
I'd wager you get some different faceplates to choose from
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 24 2018 14:23
I'll bet it has a tasty "basically a warlord" price tag, too LOL
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 14:24
no doubt because it IS, add 10% new shit bonus on top ;)
Joe Beddoe
@CrusherJoe
Nov 24 2018 14:38
So I dig everything about the new Marneus except for the completely unmotivated placement of jump pack intakes just randomly slapped on his backpack. It looks random and very much out of place serving no "function" whatsoever
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 14:41
uhm.. yeah. No jets whatsoever... unless its a "grav jetpack" which needs intakes for whatever reason

@CrusherJoe

Looks like his honor guard got the "primaris" procedure as well?
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 15:31
yep
Looking at this I wonder how many toilet seats they mange to put on a model... its a bit ridiculous

Nov 24 2018 15:36
...huh
primaris stormshields?

The new CSM jetpack Lord is a much more interesting model for me.

@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 15:41

Eh, still a long way to go, and primaris don’t have good bike/terminator/vanguard replacements yet, or gear like storm shields, etc

@WindstormSCR you were saying? :P

WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 15:41
I'm surprisingly ok with this
since I can't see them getting rid of DW vets until a replacement kill team box
and with the KT box being so new I don't see that happening any time soon

17 ... the answer is 17, 10 front 7 back

at this point you can glue a bolterbit to an omega, put it on a base, paint it blue and call it done.

I was talking to the guy who sculpted the noise marine, he said he was listenging to glam rock the entire time for inspiration, i asked him what he was listening to when he sculpted the new slaanes (cos same guy) he just said "screams... nothing but screams"

the new book will contain new "specialist detachments", basicly like the chapter master stratagem where you pay cp to make a captain better, this gives certain units in a detachment a special rule, example given was an imperial fist detachment that gave bonuses to devastator and devastator centurions (didnt say what bonuses tho)
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:01
Either the bonuses are really good, or no one will use them if the detachments cost CP
no real in between because of how valuable CP is
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:25
sounds more like "for the rest of the battle"-typ strategems baked into the detachment..
they are either weak or expensive, no way around that.. with 1-3 cp stratagems with partially huge impacts
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:37
my real concern is it ends up becoming "Formations/decurions 2.0" which was what turned 7th into a clusterfuck
7th pre-decurion when there were less formations, wasn't that bad
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:38
but the problem with those were that they were free (sans tax units)
these dont seem to be
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:38
as evidenced by the HH system
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:38
so no tax units, but a CP cost?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:39
both systems have me dubious
because CP are such a valuable resource that to make it worth using they need to be exceptionally good benefits
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:39
yes, but they are, by definition, tweakable, as formations were not
too good? FAQ the CP up. Too bad? FAQ the CP down.
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:40
formations were, GW just hadn't figured out what a balance pass was back then
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:40
we have precedence with stratagem CP points changes, so...
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:40
I'll wait and see what these give and require before passing judgement
the news for GK/DW and other marines seems good so far
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:41
true
but I'm more leaning ont he positive side than on the negative
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:41
I'm curious what they're going to give GK and deathwatch if they decided that basic marines needed these formations
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:41
huge point drops as declared in the article + about the same?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:41
since both are supposed to pay the premium for thier special rules in points
or DW simply get a larger drop than vanilla stuff
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:42
hm.
but that is probably the intent
with DW and GK, you can give them their own detachments with anti demon/anti xenos rules
without overpricing them vs non target enemys
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:43
GK just need thier old first turn teleport exemption like the old NSF detachment
that was what kept them working (even if not staggeringly well) in 7th
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:46
how many CP would that be worth you'd say?
WindstormSCR
@WindstormSCR
Nov 24 2018 20:48
for GK? probably 2-3
but that would be worth paying on top of the TP cost if it affected the whole detachment
since the bulk of GK forces need TP strike to get where they want to be
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 20:49
Now there you've got a potential example of a GK specific detachment that gives a unique rule to every unit aplicable in the detachment for a cost without adding the cost to every unit, if you want to use it or not
sounds smart to me
tekton
@tekton
Nov 24 2018 22:16
Yup; I'm very cautiously optimistic they will indeed go that route. It's a basic game theory mechanic that is super tweak-able and doesn't change the base make up of the game. Makes it easier for events to go, "these stragemems are banned/augmented due to the way we want to score and/or have tables set up," too. Have a table that's very narrow corridors? Stratagems that give bonuses to being in that environment are a little more expensive, but ones that make it more like a city are cheaper since they have little to no use. Detachments are just a currency generator, now go figure out how you want to use that vespane gas, I mean command points.
Dirk Bachert
@Thairne
Nov 24 2018 22:48
and by stratagems you mean detachments? ^^
tekton
@tekton
Nov 24 2018 22:50
no, i meant strategems
Even if it's a 0 cp stratagem- leave the detachments the same and uniform for everyone
