    My task is to evaluate the "collection inspector". I think it would be good to have a separate room for each recipe. Shall I add one?

    Hi there! Yes, good idea, please go ahead, thanks.

    euhm, when I want to create a room, gitter shows the window for creating a community. The 'create room' window only appears for about 1 nanosecond and is then replaced by the 'create community' window. So, there seems to be a bug in Gitter. So I will put everything here. Not now, but sometime next week
    or perhaps I do not have the admin rights to create a room?
    lilimelgar
    @lilimelgar
    Yes, it was the latter. The room is added: https://gitter.im/CLARIAH-media-studies/recipe-collection-inspector. Thanks!

    @lilimelgar can you add another room for comparative search?
    and for Multi-layered single collection search

    Hi, there is a bug in the annotation system. When I press 'Add' without entering a tag, the browser fails; after which the previously entered annotations are lost. See screenshots for clarity:

    Maybe you know of it already, but I thought I'd share.

    Hi Rob, thanks for showing this! This is the way in which we would like to use our chat ;) I will look at it with @jblom next week (due to holiday), and let you know about the solution. I am sorry you lost some annotations... but it may be that they are still saved, we will check

    A video annotation design proposal: when I have made annotations the list appears underneath in my browser screen. It would be more intuitive, for scanning/browsing purposes, if the annotation list would appear next to the video player. Just a thought, maybe you have different ideas.

    Hi Rob, great, thanks, we will look into it and come back to you

    It would be useful to have mouse-over/hover explanation of the annotation buttons in the interface
    To explain what the +, x mean
    For the annotation controls I mean
    Ah, never mind... I am now getting mouse-over explanations of the buttons. Maybe it took a little while to load

    It is not completely clear how to create a subsegment. Am I supposed to first select the segment, save it, and then create a subsegment?
    SauerSabrina
    @SauerSabrina
    Added links do not seem clickable
    we can see the link when we hover over the added link, but we cannot go to the link, or copy the link to open it in a new window
    SauerSabrina
    @SauerSabrina
    In the adding metadata field, there are 2 "save" buttons. First you have to click the one above, and then the blue save button. This is very confusing, as I lost all my added metadata because I did not notice the save button on the left hand upper corner

    @lilimelgar
    Hi Sabrina, thank you for your input about the annotation tool. About segments and subsegments: it is not possible to create sub-segments at the moment (there are no "tier" support at the moment or dependencies between segments as other tools do (e.g., ELAN), this is being considered for future improvements. About the links: only the title of the object you wanted to link to your initial object is being stored at the moment, we took note of adding the actual link to the external object for future improvements. About the two "save" buttons, yes, we have noted this issue before: #119 (CLARIAH/wp5_mediasuite#119). For further discussion about the Annotation tool, please visit the Annotation-tool room. Thank you for your feedback :smile:

    Regarding visualisation tools, the following visualisations were requested at the Summer school. Where these would be shown, is a matter for discussion:
    Visualisation of effect of search terms/ metadata fields on the results of the query (e.g 4D Venn Johannes)
    Visualisation of timeline showing where clips come from a programme (prototype in Jupyter notebook in the platformisation project)
    Wordclouds (without punctuation marks)
    Completeness of metadata for the results of a search query (prototype in jupyter notebook)

    Hi @mwigham Very interesting suggestions for visualizations in the Media Suite, mainly the 4D Venn diagram! that Group 1 and Johannes came up with. About where to place these visualizations, I would say that it would make sense to make them available via the Search tool itself, perhaps opening in a separate window (as Scopus does -see screencast here. This would work for non-saved queries as well as for saved queries (which are "replayed" from the workspace but end up in the search tool again). Ideally, we should find a way to connect these analytics with the Jupyter notebooks that you are working on..., and perhaps add them dynamically in the MS (to facilitate interactivity/viewing of resources). I will try to organize more user sessions to get input about this, or our users' suggestions are welcome in the chats here.

    In the Inspect tool, if you open the list of metadata fields and then search for 'Description', it is very hard to find the description fields as all fields with 'description not available' are also displayed

    Feedback from UU workshop: a query that was deleted while it was open in the Compare tool did not disappear

    Thanks @mwigham for reporting: this issue has been fixed, it works as expected now in production (released yesterday)

    Thanks again @mwigham : there is also an ordering option in the column for Field names (down arrow next to the "Field" header), which makes it easier to see the description fields at once. We could improve the search functionality by making it search in field names only, but this would limit the option to search for terms that may occur in the definition/description fields, so, I think this may not be a good approach to solve the issue, but we can ask users about this. For now, ordering would be the best option.

    @mwigham
    A simple alternative could be to change the message 'Description not available' to 'not available'
    lilimelgar
    @lilimelgar
    @mwigham Perfect, I'll make the changes soon and upload the dictionary again :)
