yeah i got it to move instantly, i'm going to try an animation
http://kivy.org/docs/api-kivy.animation.html makes it seem decently easy
for widgets
at some point we may need to convert those buttons into widgets but i think it's ok for now

well, i'm not sure how much customization you can do to it, if we need to change the look or something
but the more i think about it, since we can just subclass Button and change whatever we want about it, then it should work

ok, so i'm still trying to figure out why the Player is whacked out when I try to set the size to a relative value
but from http://kivy.org/docs/api-kivy.uix.widget.html i found this: If the parent is a Layout, then the widget size will be the parent/layout size.

need some help on my latest commit ChodeGames/kivycontest2014@d281675, I'm getting an error: AttributeError: 'Building' object has no attribute 'buiding_left_x'
But it doesn't really make sense since I'm defining it in the class, and I can reference it in the text variable
but it doesn't seem to work when referencing it from the canvas
can't find anything online on it either

you may need to define Bulding in the .py file, and give it an ObjectProperty(None)
i do something like that in https://github.com/ChodeGames/kivycontest2014/blob/player_icon/main.py in the player_icon branch

i'm going to commit and pull request a working animation for moving a player tonight
what do you think i should work on next:
  1. adding multiple players, naming them
  2. a main menu system
  3. something else

i think i'll open a bunch of issues tonight for stuff we need to do
i guess we should list out anything we might want to do, and prioritize based on what would constitute a finished fun game
