Hi, I need a help) I create open source project and I don't know how to manage my public repo. I can't find any examples.
Sunny Kharel
@sunnykharel
Hello everyone, my name is Sunny Kharel, and I am a junior studying Computer Engineering at UT Austin. I have just joined CloudCV, and am new to open source projects. Do you have any suggestion on how I should start? I am very familiar with GitHub and Git as well as with Python and ML libraries
Looking up at previous comments, I have found the answer to my previous question. Do I have to be a part of GSoC to contribute to the project?
Vladyslav Horbachov
@LeftTwixWand
@sunnykharel I think you are already late. Registration is closed.
Sunny Kharel
@sunnykharel
Yeah, I saw that I missed the registration. I want to contribute to this project even though I am not part of GSoC. Is this possible?
Vladyslav Horbachov
@LeftTwixWand
I don't think so.
Kaustubh Maske Patil
@nikochiko
@sunnykharel Yup why not, feel free to work on an open issue or suggest new features and bug fixes in the GitHub issue tracker
There are also the Fabrik and Origami projects besides EvalAI which might interest you,
Vladyslav Horbachov
@LeftTwixWand
@LeftTwixWand But you can start your own open source project or join existing.
Sunny Kharel
@sunnykharel
Oh, thanks @nikochiko and @LeftTwixWand. I'll join this project and start fixing bugs in the issue tracker!

Hi everyone, I need help setting up local evalAI. I have a local machine and a router with a public domain name. I want to access to my local evalAI via internet. First, I installed evalAI on my local machine using docker compose and opened these ports on my router: 8888 (domain name, say, "competition.blablabla.com) and 8000 (domain name "django.blablabla.com"). Next, I changed the frontend config.json file: API path in "dev" section from "localhost:8000" to "django.blablabla.com". Now I open evalAI competition.blablabla.com, type login and password, and get the error: Access to XMLHttpRequest ... has been blocked by CORS policy. P.S. Direct connection to "django.blablabla.com" works well, I see "Hello World!" page.

Hey All, I am a noob here. Just tried executing "docker-compose up —build” on a mac, Got the above error message:
I checked in https://evalai.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq(developers).html#common-errors-during-installation , couldnt find it. Could i get any help.
Thanks in advance.

@vpozdnyakov
@yajna-pandith check this Cloud-CV/EvalAI#2787
yajna pandith
@yajna-pandith
Solved @vpozdnyakov
Now, I am getting the error "evalai_celery_1 exited with code 1”.
I figured out that this is solved in Cloud-CV/EvalAI#2516 which again led me to Cloud-CV/EvalAI#2593 .Here I do not know what exactly to be changed as, the proposed changes in the pull req has not been passed by codeFlow checks. Thanks in advance.

@nikochiko
Hey @sidhu1012, @sanyam1997 ! Great to have you here. You can get started by going through the contribution guidelines: https://evalai.readthedocs.io/en/latest/contribution.html and start working on issues from https://github.com/Cloud-CV/EvalAI/issues

Since the GCI ended, a major outlet for the younger developers to get introduced to tech, (and to CloudCV) was lost. There have been a few attempts to recreate something like that. I recently got hit up with this new contest: https://aicode-in.github.io/AICode-In/
I'd love to see CloudCV participate there; and mentoring new developers which would also help make this a more lively community.
@RishabhJain2018 @Ram81 can we participate as an org in this contest?

Can you check if you can run docker without sudo? If not, then either run docker-compose as sudo or follow this to use docker without sudo

@vkartik97 thank you, apparently docker needed sudo to run and now it works fine.

Hey everyone ! I am an undergrad CS student and I am already familiar with Python, Machine Learning, Django and Devops. I am actively looking for an open source project to contribute to and be a part of a community. I found that the stack used in CloudCV and specially EvalAI is similar to my interest. How can I get started with this ? I looked at some beginner level issues but it's hard to understand the problem when you're not familiar with the project. How can I approch this problem and get comfortable with the project and it's modules ? Thanks in advance :-)
