Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545

Mayukh
@Mayukhdeb

@Suryansh5545 , here's the result
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
ok
but have you set up the venv
virtual environmet
Mayukh
@Mayukhdeb
@Suryansh5545 , I think that's where I went wrong , do I need to build again after setting up the virtual environment ?
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
as i can see you are using base
yes
Mayukh
@Mayukhdeb
okay thanks for the help
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
Welcome
Mayukh
@Mayukhdeb
@Suryansh5545 done setting up a virtual env , do I have to git clone inside the virtual env and build again ?
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
no
just change to your old folder
you dont need to clone it again but i will say to use this if not done until now
pip install -r requirements/dev.txt
or if you have followed all 10 steps then it will work perfectly
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
@diningPhilosopher64 What seem to be the problem?
Sourabh Kondapaka
@diningPhilosopher64
I wanted to solve this #512 , there are 2 approaches. Asked mentor which one would be better (as mentioned in the issue)
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
I think it will be better if a seprate production file is there .
Sourabh Kondapaka
@diningPhilosopher64
Yes. @RishabhJain2018 , should I handle #512 by creating a seperate file for production ?
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
also if you go this way you also need to edit the docs for instructions
Sourabh Kondapaka
@diningPhilosopher64
@Suryansh5545 Yep.
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
and it will be better if you also ask other gsoc and gci mentors
as Rishabh Jain is very busy
Sourabh Kondapaka
@diningPhilosopher64
@Suryansh5545 Any idea about other gsoc / gci mentors in this group ?
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
GCI Mentors:- Sanjeev Singh,Yash Dusing,Pushkal Katara , Ram Ramrakhya and Deshraj Yadav
These are mentor for gci
you can contact them here or privately also
Sourabh Kondapaka
@diningPhilosopher64
@Suryansh5545 Thanks..!
@yashdusing , @Ram81 , @deshraj , for issue #512 , should I go ahead and create a seperate settings.py file for production or get some of the values from environment variables. What do you guys suggest ?
Mayukh

@Suryansh5545 after setting the virtual env, and after following the steps I get this error
Sourabh Kondapaka
@diningPhilosopher64
@Mayukhdeb , looks like psycopg2 module is missing. Try installing it from inside the virtual env. Alternatively you can install docker and docker-compose and build the images.Most likely you wont be facing any issues with the latter approach.
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
@Mayukhdeb please use this command
pip install psycopg2
This error is python related
May be your python modules are not properly installed
Alternatively you can also go with docker w
It's more easy than virtual env
Mayukh
@Mayukhdeb
@Suryansh5545 do I need a virtual env for the docker approach as well ?
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
no
docker is a virtual env itself
you just need to enter one command
and all will be done
Kaustubh Maske Patil
@nikochiko
Yeah @Mayukhdeb installing using docker is waaaaay easier lol! :smiley:
Suryansh5545
@Suryansh5545
until you dont forgot to turn it off properly
if you do then you are in a bad situation LOL
