A lot of people play commander, yep
Aaronra30 DF?
@aaronragsdale1_twitter
do you just have to put the commander in the sideboard or somethin?

Hi. I'm having trouble running cockatrice on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6. I recently deleted cockatrice in a moment of weakness. It was running fine beforehand with the father of ruins update. Now it tells me I need version 2.7 (Dawn of Hope) to run on my computer, but I am running Sierra, and cannot upgrade to High Sierra for some reason. Any clues here? I would like to playtest on the platform

@ZeldaZach
You can self compile on an older Mac version.
We have instructions on the wiki

I'm nearly illiterate, but linux is the only way for me to play, outside of untap.in

@ebbit1q
@Alecmtg d you know why you can't upgrade?
you should be able to find max os high sierra on the appstore and simply install it from there
Alecmtg
@Alecmtg
I think it is because I don't have enough memory space.
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
you don't have enough disk space to download or does it specify a higher ram requirement?
because hardware requirements for high sierra didn't change
anything running sierra should be able to upgrade to at least high sierra
you just need enough space on your computer to download it
Alecmtg
@Alecmtg
Disk space I believe. My computer has a lot of stuff on there
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
you should free up at least 15 GB for it to download, having free space on your machine is a good idea in general
if the upgrade goes well you can delete the old version to make about 12GB of space again

o/ figure it's best if I do most of my dev chat in here rather than in discord.
Just getting started, total newbie, will be learning C++ from working on this project. I have CMake and CLion both installed with their respective licenses if necessary. Just one question: What toolchains do I need in CLion to load Cockatrice code from Github?
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
@shawneric welcome!
Eric
@shawneric
Thanks buddy! :)
Eric
@shawneric
Derp, got those toolchains figured out. Now I just need to figure out how to get the Qt5 core library in CLion. Shouldn't be a big hassel.
Eric
@shawneric
I can't seem to get CLion to see my Qt5 library. Any suggestions?
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
where is qt installed?
Eric
@shawneric
C:\Qt...
Oh does it need to be installed in the same directory as CLion or something, or CMake for that matter?
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
I don't know, you should probably need to tell it to use it yeah
I don't know how to do that, you should look at clion's documentation for using libraries probably
Eric
@shawneric
From what I gathered from CLion's documentation, it's not built to specifically use Qt, but it can be made to by making CMake use Qt. That's what I tried to do, but I think I did it wrong. https://www.jetbrains.com/help/clion/qt-tutorial.html#debug-renderers
When I added the -DCMAKE PREFIX PATH C:\Qt... it just wouldn't load the Cmake file then.
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
ah, yeah there should be a separate argument to add the library to smake then I guess
Eric
@shawneric
hmmm, alright, I'll do some more digging on that then. Thanks :)
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
cmake*
cool, I'll just be here and remain confused at how anyone can compile software without having a simple system controlled directory for libraries
Eric
@shawneric
Sounds like a plan :D

Hey - I've been having immense frustration all morning with some things. Is there a number I can call to explain? There is nothing written about any of the problems I've been having.
Sombataille
@Sombataille
I'll just state what I can here:
  1. Cockatrice doesn't show up in my AppData like it seems to with every person I've seen who's ever downloaded Cockatrice, so there's no perceivable way to export my card images.
  1. My most pressing concern regarding uploads is that I have exported my whole set over, but I just want to use Cockatrice for testing right now. I really hope my presumed mess of a set is not public, and, if it is, I can't find anyone who seems to know how to remove my set from Cockatrice (un-export?).

@ebbit1q
we are an open source project, we don't have a budget to spend on call centers 😅
the location that cockatrice uses is clearly visible in the general tab of the settings (you can configure it)
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
simply go to the location those are set to and look in the customsets subdirectory

@Sombataille
@ebbit1q - Okay, thank you very much. For some reason, my computer doesn't recognize the file's existence (no information/text appears), but it worked anyway.
Is there anything anyone can tell me regarding my second question? Was I wrong to think I could use Cockatrice as an offline way to test my set? Admittedly, I have yet to really navigate the functions of the program; I was just following the instructions in the ReadMe, but fear I may have prematurely uploaded my set to the public. Please forgive my lack of savvy thus far.
Sombataille
@Sombataille
I'm sorry, but the images export actually didn't work after all. It's telling me the images have been exported, but nothing is showing up. I saved my image folder to the main Cockatrice folder (like the ReadMe says) - nothing shows up. I saved it to the "downloadedPics" folder - nothing shows up. "Custom" - nothing. However, if I try to export to those folders again, it says I've already done it and would only be replacing the file. How does that make sense? Why might nothing I exported be showing up when it's telling me that it's there, and why wouldn't my computer acknowledge it apart from the general settings accessed from within Cockatrice? I'm aware that AppData(\Local) is a hidden folder - that's not my issue; It's that Cockatrice shows up nowhere external to its own general settings.
I'm willing to pay someone for answers at this point, as I've spent 4 months on this project and refuse to see it crumble now, and Cockatrice seems like the only viable place to test and play it online. Thank you
Sombataille
@Sombataille
Also, here's the really frustrating part I just realized: I noticed that all the cards I have whose names are identical to cards already in the official MtG game were auto-converted to those cards, so I just re-exported the .xml (problem solved). But, while I was doing that, I noticed all my images were showing up in the correct folder while I was in that* window, but don't show up at all otherwise. I don't get it.
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
note that card images are case sensitive, the card images should be placed directly in custom
cockatrice does not have a feature to publish your set, you couldn't have uploaded the set like that
ebbit1q
@ebbit1q
if you'd like, can you simply send me the logfile you can get from help>show debug log?
it shows if the set and the images are correctly loaded
