Better late than never.. I did eventually create an 'active' state for the nav items @trianah (yellow! ;)) I had to learn a bit of pug first!

Github question. Have this forked version of the organisation-database on my github account
There are 4 branches displaying and I want to remove branches redux, tooling and webpack - leaving only master.

Try this:
git push origin --delete <branch_name>

Have run 'git branch -dr origin/<branch name> in my terminal. And in fact when I run 'git branch -a' only 'remotes/origin/master' is listed. So that is correct. But why are they still being listed on my github account? Am I missing something obvious?
Awesome :)
Thanks Dave! Definitely one to remember for the future.

Should add it to this page at some point: https://staging.javascript101.co.uk/getting-started/git

Yes. Its good to encourage working in branches but the branches list does get large pretty quickly. Be good for everyone to know how to delete outdated branches.

We could make a git todo list.

Sounds interesting... what are you thinking?

A check list of things you need to be able to do in git e.g.:
  • Checkout code
  • Commit code
  • Make a branch
  • Delete a branch
  • Make a pull request
  • etc
Also thinking it might be easier and quicker for new comers to use the github client and then progress to the command line.

What do you mean by the github client?

Used it a bit last session, made forking and pull requests easy. Not had a play about with it yet though.

Looks really useful. I would have preferred something like this to start with.

I’ve just tried it out and it makes using git much easier.
I’ve updated the git-playground
