Exactly, no software change on client. A WS we use to route sessions to 'least used edge server' has been updated to provide URIs using standard ports, and of course, a reconfiguration on the edge server provisioning layer. Thanks for the suggesting this move to standard ports! (turns out Squid proxy server also doesn't like to do secure sockets to anything other than 443)

You are welcome.

Hi! Is the CodeTogther code open source?
Brian Fernandes
@brianfernandes_twitter
hey Alex, no - CodeTogether isn't open source.
Alex Dibble
@axdibble
Thank you. Is there any way to modify it for logging purposes?

if you're concerned about security, some of the details here might help: https://www.codetogether.com/download/security/

It's more for research, but I'll check that out. Thanks again!

Yesterday I was host of a Pairprogramming session .
It was started by me in Eclipse and me and my participant were both using firefox.
I added files to the repository via the filesystem and refreshed the workspace in Eclipse and it was reproduced in the web as expected.
Then I moved an already shared directory on the filesystem and did a refresh on the workspace in eclipse.
In the web interface the files were shown as well at the new place as at the old place.
and also showing the compile errors of the old files (which was the reason to move them in the first place)

Your Feedback / Ideas Here

Coding in multiple files, in parallel

We are investigating the possibility of allowing coding in multiple files. Basically allow people to code in independent files. If multiple people are in the same file, have basically automatic change of control aka seamless mode from today.

In addition, we are thinking to have selection work like control -- since you can be talking and highlight something but if you don't have control, it is hard to follow.

All that said, we want to simplify the Code/Follow lifecycle as people are getting confused.

How do you feel about...

Does anyone know what is used to pull the project files for Intellij? When I do a share session the project files listed in the browser only the ones in the same directory as the .ipr file an none of the other loaded modules.

CodeTogether is working well with JetBrains? I saw there's an early release and we'd to play a little bit to check if we can use It for some code interviews haha
Brian Fernandes
@brianfernandes_twitter
yes, it works just fine with JetBrains.
we've moved past the early release stage. you can take a look at some of the issues here: https://github.com/Genuitec/CodeTogether/issues/

I just tried out the CodeTogether extension (v1.2.0) with VSCode (v1.45.1). I've logged in, but cannot start a session. Clicking the button "Start Sharing" button in the CodeTogether view doesn't seem to do anything except change the "Log Out" icon to a cloud-with-a-ling-through-it icon. Then, double-clicking the "Start Sharing" button changes the icon back and gives a message "CodeTogether session closed".

Hi. Think i'll really appreciate this plugin. Might solve a long standing issue over at Jetbrains.
I was wondering, are there files I can block so others cannot view or edit those? Thanks!

Or, rephrased: how do i block access to files?
Timothy Webb
@TimWebb
Right now it exposes what is visible in your workbench.
That said, that's an interesting idea and certainly something we could explore -- will start a thread with your Q in a sec

Hello everyone! A lot of you have been asking for the ability have multiple people code simultaneously in a session - and we're releasing this capability in CodeTogether 2.0 :) Here are some other features you may find interesting too: https://www.genuitec.com/codetogether-2-0-gets-simultaneous-coding/

yes, we relalized it's a bit of stumbling block when the controls you're familiar with don't work.
