I regret saying too much
Ajay Mishra
@iaeliyen
What happened?
dramforever
@dramforever
I just had a tiny idea and now you are doing all these unholy stuff...
hobovsky
@hobovsky
well Voile used to download whole JS modules at runtime and I have definitely seen solutions which installed python packages, so iaeliyen is not the first one :)
Blind4Basics
@Blind4Basics
mmmh? I guess I solve python katas too wuickly, then... Never seen such a thing, for now... x)

I just had a tiny idea and now you are doing all these unholy stuff...

'unholy'?

the system is quite restricted but still badly designed.
dramforever
@dramforever
I mean, as long as you know you're doing 'bad' things, you get the idea...
Ajay Mishra
@iaeliyen
no idea, why you're being cryptic. due to phone?
hobovsky
@hobovsky
how is he cryptic?
he's quite clear for me :)
dramforever
@dramforever
@iaeliyen Maybe because I'm not native English, so I'm saying things in a way that isn't the most straightforward
For example, on a second thought, I could have just said 'I'm saying things in a less straightforward', but it takes me a bit of time for me to realize this, and it sometimes might even require me to read my own message after a while
Not unlike how I manage to write 2x lines of code for the same method of solving the same problem

@iaeliyen
@hobovsky what is the feature of JS you hate most(assuming JScut=>I hate JS)?
hobovsky
@hobovsky
I am not really sure which I do not like the most. I am not sure if the feeling is even rational, you know. It's like with Apple fanboys: it's not that they like iPhones because of features. They worship $1000 monitor stands just because they have the Apple logo. Similarly, you can say that it's not that I don't like JS because of its features (although I could name plenty of them I don't like). Im just kinda mysojsist, I think.

I mean, I like my iPhone because of the look, feel and OS. It's an iPhone X from 9/2017 and I don't have any expectations of replacing it any time soon, so I guess it could be argued that this isn't a great example as I'm not a "fanboy", but still :P

They worship $1000 monitor stands just because they have the Apple logo.

I don't think many if any people were especially excited by the $1,000 price tag of the stand; the reaction was pretty universally disgust. It's a bit disingenuous to claim they all worship the stand simply because it exists :P

Im just kinda misojsist, I think.

I appreciated this XD

I personally appreciate most of ES6 JS although I could name any number of things about any version before that which I hate (including the whole language). One thing that comes to mind I don't like is the oddity of things like converting to and from a char code.

Going from a string to a character code? Sure, char.charCodeAt(). Simple, if a bit verbose.

Want to get a string from a char code? Oh okay! String.fromCharCode(code)😃

Incredibly stupid and unintuitive, and a pain to remember.

Show me that amount of sold items was close to 0 and I will believe you ;)

found the total items sold

Yo cool people! Hope everyone in the channel is having a delightful week
Thought i'd swing by and ask a mod if they think my problem should be made 6kyu instead of 7kyu. A user commented saying it's more aligned with the 6kyu difficulty and when I was writing it I had that difficulty in mind so I thought I'd swoop in and see if we could update it. Thanks all!
Steffan153
@Steffan153
Ranks cant be changed tho
Ror
@rorcores
they can't?
Ajay Mishra
@iaeliyen
and that's not a 6 kyu, even 7 is over ranking. :D
Ror
@rorcores
Okay sure no worries, have a good day
It's obviously not an 8 kyu haha you've lost perspective
Ajay Mishra
@iaeliyen
:)
just a one-liner?
Ror
@rorcores
Are you suggesting length of code is indicative of difficulty?
That's an odd way to think about things but I suppose there may be some weak merit to that argument from a certain perspective
Ajay Mishra
@iaeliyen
(exception: regex stuff, and codegolfs)
Ror
@rorcores
Anyway all G
catcha later
hobovsky
@hobovsky
Unfortunately rank cannot be easily changed after it's set. I also think that 7 kyu is kinda OK for this problem. But if you keep receiving complaints then let us know again
Blind4Basics
@Blind4Basics

and that's not a 6 kyu, even 7 is over ranking. :D

wrong...

(about the last part)
dramforever
@dramforever
length of code is a good indicator of difficulty
and when it isn't, you know it when you see it
It's far from the only metric to consider though
